Roland Aira: The Future of Drums, Beats, and Crazy Electronic Sounds

For a month, Roland has been teasing its mysterious "Aira" products with a series of videos that invoke the TR-808 and TR-909 Rhythm Composers, classic beat machines that are amongst the best-sounding hardware, even 30 years after they first hit the market. But it turns out the new Aira series is hardly a throwback. This is the future of electronic music—and it’s for everybody.

Dash Wireless Headphones, Music Player, Headset & Fitness Tracker: Smart ‘phones

Wearable technology is still at a very early stage, but we’re seeing more refined and truly useful examples every so often. Bragi’s Dash is the latest example. Calling this tiny pair of devices “headphones” is as fair as calling the iPhone a “phone.”

Yes, Dash is a pair of Bluetooth in-ear headphones. But it’s also a music player on its own, with 4GB of built-in storage for MP3 and AAC files. It also provides noise isolation, which can be adjusted if you want to listen in on your surroundings. Dash also has a microphone and can be used as a headset. But that’s not all.

Dash is also a fitness tracker. Together with its iOS app, it lets you keep an eye on things like your heart rate, calories burned and body temperature. The app also has a convenient Lost Device Tracker, which I’m sure future owners will eventually need.

It will also keep tabs on performance-related stats like the steps you’ve taken, your speed and even your altitude and drop rate.

While you’ll get the most out of Dash if you use its companion app, you’ll be able to control the device through its touch-sensitive surface.

Dash is also shock- and water-resistant, and it lasts up to 4 hours per charge.

Pledge at least $199 (USD) on Kickstarter by March 31 to get Dash as a reward. That’s not cheap, but assuming it can do all of its functions well then it’s a much better deal than most if not all of the fitness trackers that are currently available.

Sony Sells Waterproof MP3 Player In Bottles Of Water

Marketing is important when it comes to selling a product because not only does a product have to sell based on its own merits, but at the same time it has to have an appeal, such as a specific look, a lifestyle, and so on. Sony has done just that with their W series Walkman MP3 player, which for those unfamiliar, is a pair of earphones with an MP3 player built into them itself. This means that there will not be an additional cable that attaches to your phone, making it a pretty portable device and great for the gym, which is exactly how Sony is marketing it.

Teaming up with advertising firm, DraftFCB over in New Zealand, Sony has decided to market their W series Walkman by placing them inside of water bottles and selling them at locations such as gym and indoor pools from vending machines. Naturally the fact that it comes inside a water bottle highlights how the MP3 player is waterproof, making it ideal for gym goers who might be worried that sweat and light washing of their earphones might damage the device, and swimmers who might want to swim with their headphones on. It is admittedly a pretty clever, don’t you think?

LG Earbuds Which Tracks The Heart Rate Hits The FCC

LG Earbuds Which Tracks The Heart Rate Hits The FCCAt CES last month, the folks over at LG did mention about the Lifeband fitness wearable in addition to a pair of heart-rate sensing earphones, but somehow there was no specific mention as to when these would actually appear over in stores. Hence, it is with a sigh of relief that the FCC has dropped a clue that the heart-rate sensing earphones should hit the market in due time, where these Bluetooth-enabled earphones have gotten the nod of approval from the FCC, making them suitable for a commercial release. As with most devices that have been approved by the FCC in the past, it would also mean one thing – a final release is not too far away, too.

These Snail Speakers Are Uniquely Designed

These Snail Speakers Are Uniquely DesignedSpeakers come in all shapes and sizes, and if you’re looking for a novel and unique way of amplifying the sound coming from your iPhone, perhaps the Snail Speaker could be of interest to you. As you can see in the image above, the speakers are certainly shaped to look like a snail, a robotic and futuristic snail, but we think you get the idea anyway. The speakers will play nicely with a bunch of media devices, including iOS devices, Android, Windows Phone, and so on, just as long as it has a 3.5mm headphone jack in which it will plug into.

The speakers will offer up to 3 hours of playback on a single charge and will charge via USB as well, so you can always plug it into your computer to charge when it starts to run low on battery. Now we doubt that you will be able to get audiophile level quality from these speakers, but for an asking price of $8, we can’t really find that much to complain about, just as long as it is able to get the job done. If you’d like to learn ore or get your hands on the device, hit up USB Fever’s website for the details.

The new speaker is much more attractive and promises better performance. In fact, the company says that the new speaker is its best sounding portable Bluetooth unit ever.

Sound-Enhancing Bluetooth Tube Amp Doubles as Cheesy Sci-Fi Prop
