Amazon Cloud Player arrives on Sonos Wireless Hi-Fi System

The Sony Walkman was the first to make music really portable, but you can say that it was Apple’s iPod that helped spread the digital music oats far and wide across the globe. The mantra, “Your Music, Everywhere” would be very apt to describe the Amazon Cloud Player, as it allows customers the ability to be able to enjoy their music across the broadest selection of devices, ranging from the Kindle Fire to a slew of Android-powered devices, in addition to offerings from Apple such as the iPhone, iPod touch and Mac – without discounting perennial favorites like the PC, with the list finally being expanded to include the family of Sonos wireless Hi-Fi systems.

With the introduction of Amazon Cloud Player, customers of said service are now able to listen to their music library throughout their home – sans wires, of course. The Amazon Cloud Player will allow customers to be able to securely store music in the cloud, playing it back at a later period on any of the previously mentioned devices, over Sonos.

Steve Boom, vice president of Digital Music for Amazon, said, “Our goal is to enable customers to enjoy all their music, wherever they are, and on any device. Launching on Sonos today is an important part of that strategy, as our customers have been asking us to add Sonos to the list of compatible Cloud Player devices ever since we first launched Cloud Player. We will continue to add support for more devices and platforms later this year.”

Right now, there are millions of customers who make use of Amazon Cloud Player already to download, manage and stream their music in the cloud as well as the mentioned devices. Thanks to its availability on Sonos, Amazon Cloud Player will be able to march onwards by offering a broad selection of cloud playback solutions.

For the uninitiated, the Amazon Cloud Player is a service which allows subscribers to securely store their personal music in the cloud, where they can enjoy a playback of it later on across a wide range of devices. It is also automatically integrated into Kindle Fire, so whenever you turn on your Kindle Fire, you can enjoy the full gamut of Cloud Player benefits right out of the box. All Amazon MP3 purchases as well as up to 250 imported songs can be stashed away for free.

iLP Turntable merges old school with new

    No More Device Dropping

Ever dropped your phone or e-reader? You are in an elite club if you have not. Personally, I would have to say JFK airport was my worst. I was, typing on the escalator when imbalance took over and wham! There went the smartphone, tumbling down the escalator like a slinky. Yes, expletives followed.

Face it, technology is cool but we have our klutzy tendencies. FLYGRIP is a device that we should all check out to help preserve our devices.  FLYGRIP’s basic principle is to extend your reach while helping secure your phone or e-reader at the same time. A spring loaded clip securely adheres to your device, or case. It leaves ample room to comfortably insert a couple fingers. So when reaching for your keyboard on your phone you get extra reach for your thumb. Or enough reach to easily navigate your e-reader. Not to mention the massive increase in confidence, knowing that your device won’t go tumbling. And use FLYGRIP as a landscape or portrait stand when you need both hands. Eight colors are available too so you can coordinate your look.

For $29.99, FLYGRIP provides peace of mind against “the drops.”

Props to thenextweb.com for the product review.

    Scosche boomSTREAM wireless Bluetooth speaker

How many of you out there love living out a lifestyle that is free from demands as well as unnecessary shackles? This is what we are talking about when it comes to a wireless world, and we already have had wireless home phones for the longest time already, with wireless printers and scanners starting to take their place in homes and offices everywhere, not to mention having wireless speakers being strategically placed around the room so that you are able to hear just what the artist wants you to hear – at least, as close as possible. All this without running the risk of a wayward kid zipping around the home and tripping over some cables.

Now here is a candidate for a wireless speaker for you to consider – the Scosche boomSTREAM wireless Bluetooth speaker which is said to come with a wireless range of 33 feet like all good Bluetooth-enabled devices should come with, making it ideal for action regardless of where you are – at home, in your backyard while you hold a BBQ session, at the dorm with the rest of your mates, or even at the office when you want to chill out. Let us take a closer look at what the Scosche boomSTREAM wireless Bluetooth speaker is able to deliver right after the jump.

This particular wireless media speaker will play nice with Bluetooth 2.1 enabled devices which run on either the iOS or Android operating system, respectively. It is not only compact, making it lightweight in the process, hence placing the boomSTREAM in a very strategic location where it is ideal for streaming music throughout the home, regardless of where you are. Obviously, you will need to pay some attention to the range which you are working with, not to mention having to take into consideration the kind of obstacles such as concrete walls that might result in lowering the range by some bit.

Kas Alves, Executive VP Scosche Industries, said, “With the overwhelming success of our boomCAN portable speaker, we knew we had to offer a wireless option. Like its wired little brother, boomSTREAM delivers big sound in a compact package.”

Just what kind of audio action does the Scosche boomsTREAM offer right out of the box? We are looking at dual 40mm drivers and a down-firing passive subwoofer which is said to be able to deliver an enhanced bass response while producing an excellent listening experience. Not only that, to make sure you get to enjoy hours of music – up to 8 on a full charge in fact, there is a 1200 mA lithium polymer rechargeable battery. Heck, you can even use the Scosche boomSTREAM to juice up a smartphone thanks to the USB charging port.

It will not lack in terms of aesthetics either, as the Scosche boomSTREAM will come with a brushed aluminum surface, in addition to an intricate speaker covering that makes it very pleasant to look at regardless of where you place it. The presence of a built-in microphone will be able to transform the boomSTREAM into an enhanced speakerphone right there and then. The asking price for this little wireless speaker that could? $99.99 a pop.

mophie Outride lets you capture those adrenaline pumping moments with your iPhone

So you are a proud owner of an iPhone, are you not? While the device is nice to look at and use, it is not exactly the most rugged smartphone out there in the market. This means bringing it along with you whenever you go skateboarding or want to perform some crazy stunts with your pair of in-line skates is not such a good idea, unless the iPhone itself has some sort of extra rugged protective case. Of course, recording your daredevil experiences would also require you to purchase a rugged camera which can be mounted onto a helmet, but why spend good money on that when an add-on like the mophie Outride costs a fraction of that money?

The mophie Outride, in a nutshell, is a hardware and app solution that places the power to record and share tricks, tracks, rides, and epic moments in the hands of action land and water sports enthusiasts, but they will need to own an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S beforehand. At least you no longer need to purchase a dedicated video camera, but rather, use the mophie Outride to record your latest daredevil exploits. Fret not for the mophie Outride’s durability, as it is waterproof and impact resistant while sporting a range of custom mounts to capture action shots in the surf, snow, dirt or concrete.

Ross Howe, vice president of marketing at mophie, said, “With the ever-growing action sports market, and our success in developing ruggedized products for those rough-and-tough tech users, we felt we were ready to design and develop a product that would take the iPhone and its camera capabilities to its limits. While the action sports community has a lot of camera and video options to choose from, they weren’t able to share their moments with the community in real time. OUTRIDE gives the action sports community these capabilities in a durable, compact, quality and cost-efficient way.”

What are some of the advantages of using the iPhone 4S or iPhone 4 alongside the mophie Outride as the action sports camera of choice? It will be able to let you review your own footage or shots, share those moments and follow others in the community, all in a jiffy – as long as there is a decent Internet connection at that point in time, that is. Available from the middle of September onwards, the mophie Outride will come in different bundles that will cost you anywhere from $129.95 to $149.95.
