I am tempted to say that Best Buy is giving out a free Samsung Galaxy S3, but when you take into consideration that one would have to exchange a working cellphone with the retailer, then technically speaking, it is not really “free” in the first place, right? Right now, Best Buy seems to be offering the Samsung Galaxy S3 as part of their trade-in deals, clearly moving to the South Korean manufacturer’s side instead of Apple this time around. Previously, it was the iPhone and iPad which were part of such a deal.
In a nutshell, if you have anything older than the Galaxy S3, and would like to make the jump to the Galaxy S3 (which is one generation behind the existing Samsung flagship), then all you need to do is drop by one of its 1,400 store locations and perform the trade in, or pick up a $50 credit instead toward a new Samsung handset. This offer would end on August 3rd, so early bird, early worm and all that jazz. You know the drill, what are you waiting for?

Google’s refreshed Nexus 7 isn’t supposed to officially land in stores until next week on July 30, but it seems Best Buy is jumping the gun yet again and now has both the 16GB and 32GB versions of the second-generation Nexus 7 available for purchase. Let’s just hope the listing don’t get taken down like they were with the pre-orders.
The new Nexus 7 was put on pre-order a few hours before the official unveiling of the new tablet, letting early adopters get an even earlier start on ordering their own unit. However, they were quickly taken down and replaced with a “coming soon” banner. Now, just two days after the announcement and a whole weekend before the launch, Best Buy has them up for sale.
Furthermore, calling some local Best Buy stores in the area confirmed that the new tablet is in stock and on shelves, ready to buy. Your mileage may vary depending on where you live, but if you’re wanting the new Nexus 7 today, we’d suggest heading down to your nearest Best Buy to see if you can grab one.
UPDATE: Amazon is now selling the new Nexus 7 as well, and if you’re a Prime member, you can get it in the mail tomorrow for only $4 more.
The new Nexus 7 comes with a 1920×1200 7-inch display and runs the new Android 4.3, which comes with several new features, including multi-user accounts with support for restricted profiles. The tablet is slightly thinner all around and it even crams in a 5-megapixel camera on the back.
Users will also be treated with a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB of RAM. The tablet comes with the same graphics chip as before, but benchmarks have proved that performance is increased, thanks to improved OpenGL support. You can check out our own benchmarks to see how the tablet stacks up.

There are sales, and there are $ALE$. This is the latter. Today and tomorrow only, you can get a retina MacBook Pro—13-inch or 15-inch, two configurations each—for $200 off at Best Buy. Have a valid .edu email address? Make that $300. And that’s just for starters.
If the idea of getting your hands on a new Nexus 7 is keeping you up at night, there may be some good news: according to Engadget, it sounds like some Best Buy stores will have stock from as early as this morning.
New Nexus 7 to arrive today at Best Buy, ahead of schedule (update: confirmed)
Posted in: Today's ChiliA tipster has told us that the latest Nexus 7 from Asus and Google will hit Best Buy stores today, and a pre-order we placed earlier for the device seems to confirm that. We put our money down for one when the order page first went up, and while the confirmation originally said it would arrive on the original July 30th launch date, it’s now telling us that we can expect our tablet later today. That jibes with info we were given by a source claiming to be the manager of a Best Buy store. He said that while pre-orders started yesterday, “there were few (of them) in my region,” meaning that “if you are present at a (Best Buy) location today at opening, you have a good chance of buying the tablet.” He added that some stores don’t have stock yet due to agreements with Google, but pre-orders are still possible at those locations. Until we receive confirmation, however, you may not want to make a long journey to one of the outlets. Meanwhile, we’ve reached out to both Google and Best Buy.
Update: Best Buy has touched base, telling us “we can confirm that the Nexus is available at all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores and BestBuy.com now.”

If you haven’t already heard, Google is hosting an event later today that is said to see the official unveiling of Google’s next-generation Nexus 7. However, Best Buy seems to have jumped the gun a bit and have put the tablet up for pre-order on their website, with both the 16GB and 32GB models available.
UPDATE: Looks like Best Buy caught the oopsie and have changed the status to “coming soon”
We already saw a circular ad leak just recently at Best Buy that showed the new Nexus 7 tablet advertised and ready to sell, with a suspected release date of July 30. The ad only showed us a small amount of specs to look forward to, including Android 4.3, but the pre-order page shows that Google is sticking with the Jelly Bean name for this latest update.
The Best Buy listing shows the new Nexus 7 running a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 8064 processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 320 graphics. The tablet also sports 802.11a/b/g/n wireless and Bluetooth 4.0. The screen is staying at 7 inches, but will have a smooth 1920×1200 resolution.
There will also be a 5MP rear camera paired up with a 1.2MP front-facing snapper. You’ll also be treated with SlimPort, which will let you output 1080p video directly from the tablet. The Best Buy listing pretty much gives away everything on the new Nexus 7 just a few hours before the official unveiling is planned to take place.
Perhaps the only thing we didn’t really know before was whether or not Android 4.3 would be Jelly Bean or Key Lime Pie. Rumors in the past have all hinted to the update sticking with the Jelly Bean moniker, but it looks like it’s confirmed now, thanks to this Best Buy listing. Prices for the new tablet start at $229, with the 32GB version priced at $269.
