After receiving a boost from Netgear it appears Roku’s plans for 2011 include hitting retail under its own name, as it’s officially announced the Roku XD (no NTV250 branding) is available at Best Buy, as well as Fry’s and Radio Shack. Previously Roku only sold its own player through online but after breaking through 1 million units it’s apparently ready for bigger things. We’ve been informed the Netgear-branded boxes will sell out their inventory and be replaced by these going forward, so those interested in grabbing one for the archives may want to do so quickly. 2011 should see a big charge into retail from Roku as it seeks to stay one step ahead of the media streaming competition and this is just the first step; for now one can only wonder exactly what the next move will be.

Now that it’s received its big US debut courtesy of Sprint and under the name EVO View 4G, HTC’s Flyer tablet is free to, um, fly under the radar with a WiFi version this spring, exclusively through Best Buy. Specs on the Flyer are somewhat atypical for the current crop of Android tablets, as it opts for Gingerbread instead of Honeycomb and a 1.5GHz Qualcomm chip intead of the popular Tegra 2 dual-core solution. That, and it’s a 7-inch tablet with a capacitive stylus and an aluminum unibody shell. Notably, this WiFi-centric variant looks set to beat the WiMAX-capable EVO View (which Sprint expects in the summer) to market, so we’ll be keeping a very curious eye on pricing as and when it is announced. For now, we have a retailer and a rapidly dwindling release window. Oh, and a press release, which you’ll find just past the break, augmented with a neat little promo video.

After being jilted on Valentine’s Day, you’d think we would learn. But having tasted the goods, we couldn’t help but get suckered in by every HTC Thunderbolt launch date rumor — only to have our hopes dashed each time its release was inexorably pushed further and further back. Now, a leaked email and an HTC regional sales manager’s tweet (whose account has subsequently been deleted) claim our lust for Verizon’s first 4G handset will finally be quenched on March 17th. HTC posted on Facebook that the official launch date will be announced “soon, ” and four days from now would certainly qualify. We just hope Best Buy and Big Red realize they face a legion of disappointed (and drunken) St. Patty’s Day revelers should they delay Thunderbolt delivery day yet again. Let’s hope the luck of the Irish finally gets us our LTE.

Wondering why the Thunderbolt isn’t in stores yet? Hard to say — apart from the reeling HTC and Verizon employees might be doing in light of the Apple / Intel news — but a Best Buy in California spilled the bad news on Twitter last night that it’s now expecting Big Red’s first LTE phone on March 4th. As Android Police points out, the store appears to have confused the day March 4th falls on (it’s a Friday, not a Thursday), but we’re figuring it’s far more likely the date is right, not the day of the week. And if Best Buy has a launch exclusive on this thing, that means it could be another week or two beyond that before the phone shows up in Verizon retail locations and elsewhere. Bummer, eh?

Update: We just got an image (you can see it for yourself after the break) that seems to set the ThunderBolt’s Best Buy arrival date even later than March 4th. According to the Best Buy Mobile document, it will be on sale on March 10th. We’re assuming the timing keeps being adjusted, but we think it’s pretty fair to say things keep getting pushed back.
