Bethesda Defends The Elder Scrolls Online’s $15 Subsciption Fee

Bethesda Defends The Elder Scrolls Onlines $15 Subsciption FeeGiven the success of the The Elder Scrolls franchise, especially with Skyrim, many gamers are probably looking forward to getting their hands on The Elder Scrolls Online. The game is currently set for a release on the 4th of April, while the Xbox and PS4 version of the game will be released a few months later.

Interesting Bethesda will be adopting a subscription model for the MMORPG where they will be charging gamers $15 a month to play the game. This is in light of the current trend where developers opt for a free-to-play model where gamers will be able to play the game for free, but charge for in-game items, such as armor, or services to help them progress in the game. Possible Dishonored II Splash Screen Leaked [Rumor]

Possible Dishonored II Splash Screen Leaked [Rumor]Gamers, if you have enjoyed the Dishonored game by the guys at Arkane and Bethesda, you might be interested to learn that a sequel appears to be in the works. This is thanks to a recent screenshot that was leaked and made its way onto the internet, showing off the logo for the game, along with Bethesda’s and Arkane’s logos at the bottom right and bottom left corners of the screen respectively.

Of course when Bethesda was asked about the possible sequel, they replied with a canned response, stating that “We don’t comment on rumor or speculation.” Granted this is a rather vague response, but in the past we have seen studios and developers outright certain claims, so perhaps the idea of Dishonored 2 might not be so far fetched after all. The Elder Scrolls Online Will Not Require A PS Plus Account

The-Elder-Scrolls-Online-fieldsGood news gamers, if you are looking forward to playing The Elder Scrolls Online on your PlayStation 4, you might be pleased to learn that you will not have to pay a double fee. Basically there was some concern that gamers who wanted to play the game would not only have to purchase the game itself, pay for its monthly subscription fee of $14.99 a month, but will also have to pay for a PlayStation Plus account as well. Thankfully that is not the case as Bethesda has since confirmed that gamers will only need to pay for the monthly subscription (on top of purchasing the game, of course).

According to Bethesda, ”A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to play The Elder Scrolls Online. PS4 players will only be required to pay the same monthly subscription associated with The Elder Scrolls Online that PC and Mac users will pay – nothing more.” Unfortunately the same cannot be said for Xbox One gamers who will be required to have an Xbox Gold account. It should be noted that PC/Mac gamers will not be able to play with those playing on the PS4 or the Xbox One as there will not be any cross-platform support. The Elder Scrolls Online is scheduled for a release on the PC/Mac on the 4th of April followed by a June release for consoles.

Skyrim For Xbox One And PS4 Turns Out To Be A Mistake

Skyrim For Xbox One And PS4 Turns Out To Be A MistakeRemember earlier we reported that thanks to a sighting on Bethesda’s website, it was suggested that Skyrim could be headed onto next-gen consoles like the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4? Considering that both consoles offer vastly improved graphics and performance over their predecessors, we’re sure many are happy and curious as to how the game might fare on newer consoles. Unfortunately as it turns out, it was simply a mistake, or at least that’s what Bethesda wants us to believe. Taking to Twitter, Bethesda’s Pete Hines revealed that the false listing was due to a bug on their CMS platform, causing it to display additional platforms for some of their games. It certainly sounds like an odd bug but we guess until Bethesda tells us otherwise, that’s the story we’ve got for now.

According to Hines, “We have been working on the CMS that runs our sites. A bug caused platforms that don’t exist to show up for some games  Sorry for confusion.” Skyrim was launched on the PC, Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3 a while ago. Microsoft’s Xbox platform managed to gain an exclusive over the PS3 and the PC and had DLCs released for their console first. As you might recall Bethesda had a hard time bringing those DLCs over onto the PS3, leaving PlayStation gamers DLC-less while Xbox and PC gamers enjoyed themselves. In any case it looks like the hopes of Xbox One and PS4 gamers have been dashed for now, but what do you guys think? Would you have loved to have Skyrim ported onto next-gen consoles?
