Bethesda Announces Wolfenstein: The New Order For 360, PS3, PC, Next Gen

The last time gamers were treated to a Wolfenstein game it was back in 2009 when Activision published its sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, simply called Wolfenstein. It looks like a new game will soon be upon us as Bethesda is announcing Wolfenstein: The New Order is headed our way later this year.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is being developed by MachineGames, which is a studio comprised of former founding members of Starbreeze Studios, a studio that developer The Darkness, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assualt on Dark Athena and Syndicate. The game will be a re-imagining  of the Wolfenstein franchise and is said to offer players a “gripping and dramatic experience.” A teaser trailer was also released today showing William “B.J.” Blazkowicz taking on an army of Nazi-controller robots in what looks to be an alternate time that may have resulted in the Nazi threat continuing through history. Bethesda’s ‘Endless Summer’ Rated By Australian Ratings Board

Bethesdas Endless Summer Rated By Australian Ratings Board

Earlier this month, we reported on Bethesda planning to make more noise this year for its upcoming titles. They certainly caught our attention when The Evil Within was teased through a number of Vine videos. But it looks like the publisher has some more tricks up its sleeves than what looks to be a survival horror game as another title popped up on the Australian ratings board.

The title that is raising some eyebrows is called “Endless Summer” and it looks to belong to Bethesda and its parent company, Zenimax. The Australian ratings board listing has Endless Summer as a MA15+ “modified” game that has “strong horror themes and violence. Considering The Evil Within was just announced last week, Endless Summer could be a codename for another horror game, which would certainly be an interesting move. (more…)

Skyrim gets demoed on Oculus Rift VR headset

The latest in the Elder Scrolls series of video games from Bethesda, dubbed Skyrim, has been ported over to the new Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. YouTube user Chris Gallizzi uploaded a two-minute-long video demoing how the game works with the new Kickstarter-funded VR goggles, and also provided a bit of details along the way.

Screen Shot 2013-04-22 at 10.49.55 AM

The video itself isn’t too action-packed, but it gives you an idea of what a game like Skyrim would look like through a pair of Oculus Rift virtual reality goggles. Gallizzi used Vireio Perception drivers to make the port possible, which are a set of drivers that also support Left 4 Dead, Mirror’s Edge, and Half-Life 2.

Gallizzi said that he tested out the port for around eight hours and didn’t experience any problems along the way, proving that triple-A video games are certainly ready for the virtual reality treatment. As far as his experience with the Oculus Rift itself, Gallizzi said he did get vertigo for a short while when dealing with high altitudes in games, but he notes that he’s “a believer” when it comes to VR.

Gallizzi says that the Oculus Rift is a “step in the right direction,” mentioning that it “brings something new to the living room that was only joked about in sci-fi novels.” With modern video games involving only sitting on the couch and moving your thumbs (or just standing and waving your arms with Kinect or the Wii), the Oculus Rift certainly does add a new element to the video gaming experience.

Bethesda’s The Evil Within has company bursting forth in horror genre game

With the release of the first teaser for “The Evil Within”, we’re seeing what could very well be the biggest contender for the Resident Evil collection of monster-filled games in the history of video games. If Bethesda aimed to show their prowess with a vision of barely-visible bits and pieces, they’ve done so here with flying colors. The developers teased this title earlier this week with a miniature Vine video as well.

aghqhewr

In this trailer you’ll see what’s essentially a terror only seen previously in films such as Hellraiser. Bloody monstrosities emerging from the muck-like blood of the innocent. Spiked wires wrapped around the wrists of the decrepit death-spawn of the most evil pits of darkness our eyes are allowed to see. Stuff like that – you know?

If you’re the type to freak out at the sight of quick flickering images of massacred flesh, we don’t recommend you see the video above. If you’re all about a gaming experience that’ll take you to a new universe of pain, please feel free to join in on the fun! You’ll be glad to know that you’ll experience such eye-pain as you’ve ever before seen!

This game is directed by no less than Shinji Mikami, the man behind the Resident Evil series – imagine that! You’ll find that this game will be bringing on a whole new era of exhilaration and flip-outs on your part, and we’re expecting to see some real gameplay sooner than later. Unless, of course, what we’re seeing here comes straight from the game. You never know!

Shinji Mikami’s “The Evil Within” Officially Announced, Launching In 2014

Earlier today we reported that the game Bethesda had been teasing all along is none other than “Zwei”, the survival-horror game by Resident Evil’s creator, Shinji Mikami and his studio, Tango Gameworks. The game has now been officially revealed and is known as “The Evil Within”, and according to its newly launch official Facebook page, the game will be released in 2014 and will be available for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and next-gen consoles, such as the PlayStation 4 and presumably Microsoft’s Xbox 720 (or whatever it will be known as at launch).

As we stated earlier, Mikami has designed this game to be a “pure” survival-horror type of game, and according to its description on its Facebook page, it will offer gamers “Highly-crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and an intricate story weave together to create an immersive world that will bring players to the height of tension.” Mikami also stated that he will be very hands-on with this game to ensure that quality will be there, “rest assured,” he tells gamers. The debut trailer is a live-action one and to be honest is kind of creepy, but if you love horror-type games, be sure to check it out in the video above (via IGN)!

Resident Evil Creator’s “Zwei” Is The Game Bethesda Has Been Teasing

Resident Evil Creators Zwei Is The Game Bethesda Has Been TeasingOver the past couple of days, Bethesda has released several teaser videos for an upcoming game. While many had initially thought it was Fallout 4, this was denied by Bethesda’s Pete Hines, which led some to speculate that it could be Wolfenstein. However it turns out that it is not Wolfenstein either and according to the folks at IGN, the game Bethesda is set to reveal is none other than Zwei. For those wondering why that name sounds familiar, it’s because back in April of 2012, Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami announced that his studio, Tango Gameworks was working on the game.

The title of the game is still unknown as Zwei is the codename assigned to the game. Mikami described the game as a survival-horror, or “pure” survival-horror whatever that means, and it is expected to push the limits of fear and exhilaration. Additional details of the game is expected to be announced later today, so check back with us then for the details!

Bethesda Releases Their Second Teaser Video

Bethesda Releases Their Second Teaser VideoThe other day Bethesda released a video on Vine which was a teaser to an upcoming game, and now the company has released a new teaser video, also on Vine, further teasing fans about the upcoming announcement. Once again the teaser doesn’t really tell us much, but does a great job “teasing” us, and once again just to reiterate, Bethesda’s upcoming game is not Fallout 4 which many had wrongly assumed it would be as Pete Hines himself has dismissed that rumor. Others have speculated that it might be Wolfenstein, with some imagery in the previous teaser that suggested at that. Either way we’re still left pretty clueless but if you think you know what the game could be, let us know in the comments below, on check out the video below if you haven’t seen it yet. (more…)

Bethesda teases next game with Vine trailer

Bethesda is working on a new game apparently, but no one is sure on what exactly they’re working on, even after the developer released a 4-second Vine clip teasing the new game. The clip features barbed wire, an LP spinning, and sheet music of “Air of the G-string” by Bach. What could all of this mean?

Screen Shot 2013-04-17 at 1.31.32 PM

It’s actually kind of creepy, like something out of the Saw movies, but we’d probably feel a bit more comfortable if we knew what the teaser was about. The LP is of The Moonbeam Trio, directed by George Shackley, called “Planned program service program no. 416.” We’re not sure what connection this had to Bethesda, but we’re guessing it means something.

And if you’re guessing Fallout, then you better “guess again,” according to Pete Hines, Bethesda’s vice president of public relations and marketing, who says that the Vine teaser is related to Fallout. Then again, it could just be misdirection on Hines’s part, and maybe it is a new Fallout game we’re expecting.

It honestly could be any number of things. Maybe a new Wolfenstein? Who knows, but it seems the developer is looking to gain some attention by teasing a new game, now that they discontinued support for Skyrim and won’t be releasing DLC for it anymore. What do you think the teaser is all about? What game is Bethesda teasing us? Let us know in the comments.

Bethesda Thinks That Used Games Are A Concern

Bethesda Thinks That Used Games Are A ConcernWe know that there are gamers out there who might not be able to afford to buy brand new games, or don’t see the point when they’ll probably run through it in a couple of days/weeks. What this means is that there is a market for second hand games which is great for consumers, but at the same time it is understandable that some developers aren’t too pleased about it. Bethesda is one of those studios who has expressed their concern over used games, stating that it is “absolutely” a concern in an interview with Destructoid. (more…)
