Remastered Mass Effect Trilogy Being Considered For PS4/Xbox One

Remastered Mass Effect Trilogy Being Considered For PS4/Xbox OneOne of the benefits of getting a next-gen consoles like the Sony PlayStation 4 or the Microsoft Xbox One is the fact that you will be able to look forward to better graphics.

Of course gameplay matters just as much as graphics, if not more, but then again having amazing graphics will attract gamers to the game even if they’ve never heard of it before.

That being said, gamers might be interested to learn that there is a chance that the Mass Effect Trilogy could be remastered for consoles like the Xbox One and the PS4. This is according to a recent tweet by BioWare’s Aaryn Flynn who responded to a question by a fan, asking if the studio would considered a remastering of the game. (more…)

Dragon Age: Inquisition Character Kits: Cosplay Canon

Video game characters are some of the most popular cosplay models. Unsurprisingly, many employees at game developer BioWare also love to cosplay. Those employees decided to make it easier for cosplayers to replicate the appearance of the characters in their upcoming RPG Dragon Age: Inquisition by releasing what they call Character Kits.

The Character Kits contain information such as specific colors, materials and the fashion sense of characters. The first kit is for Dragon Age mainstay Morrigan.

This should make it much easier for cosplayers and other craftsmen – bakers, illustrators, etc. – to emulate the costumes.

BioWare Hopes To Share More Mass Effect Details In 2014

BioWare Hopes To Share More Mass Effect Details In 2014The original conclusion of Mass Effect 3 left much to be desired, so much so that the developers had to release an update that extended the ending which hopefully gave players a better conclusion. Now if you were worried that would be the end of the franchise, it’s not as BioWare has confirmed that a new Mass Effect game has been planned for either 2014 or 2015. Now the bad news for those who tuned in to the Spike TV VGX over the weekend was that there was no news shared regarding the new Mass Effect game, which we guess many had expected as Mass Effect 3’s trailer debuted back in 2010, but in any case the semi-good news is that if you wanted to learn more about the game, 2014 will probably be your best bet.

This is according to BioWare’s general manager, Aaryn Flynn, who stated that they are hoping that come 2014, the studio will be able to provide gamers with some answers to the future of the franchise. For those unfamiliar with the new Mass Effect game, the franchise will be a departure from the older series and will not be following the previous main character, Commander Shepard whose story basically concluded in Mass Effect 3. Instead we expect we will be getting a new storyline and new characters, but as Flynn stated, chances of us learning more will happen in 2014. Anyone else excited at a new Mass Effect title? Or was Mass Effect 3 the ending you’ve always wanted?

    BioWare Unveils Sovereign Replica Statue

BioWare Unveils Sovereign Replica StatueThe folks over at BioWare have just unveiled the Sovereign replica statue, where it will be accompanied by a $350 price point, offering the baddies of the Mass Effect to receive some attention from the masses. Let us backtrack for a little bit – the Sovereign happens to be the Reaper that started everything right from the very beginning, where it measures in at 18.5″ and is most probably made out of some sort of plastic.

$350 sure sounds like a whole lot of money to spend for a replica statue, but one should never underestimate just what kind of fervency that a fan has when it comes to acquiring anything and everything that has to do with one’s favorite game. What makes the Sovereign replica statue special is the fact that it will also be accompanied by a code which will unlock something on BioWare Social.

It is best described this way, “Sized at an astounding 18.5″ tall, Sovereign is the flagship of the rogue Spectre Saren Arterius. An enormous, sentient dreadnought larger than any ship in any known fleet, Sovereign’s original construction hints at a mysterious and alien origin.” There will only be a thousand of these puppies rolling off the production line, so do expect these to sell out pretty fast. GaymerX panel reflects on LGBTQ themes in video games, overcoming public reaction

    DNP LGBT issues will

As video games continue to search for their voice and place in cultural relevancy, they tackle new subjects and issues facing contemporary society. Ten years ago, the world was an entirely different place, especially in terms of LGBTQ acceptance. Joystiq recently learned that in 2003’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the inclusion of a lesbian character had to be hidden from developer BioWare’s other employees, including the marketing team. Why? There was fear surrounding the audience’s reaction. “I think for a long time, it was just assumed that nobody would accept it,” David Gaider, the lead writer for the Canadian developer’s Dragon Age series said, speaking at San Francisco’s GaymerX convention.

In the decade since KotOR‘s release, the RPG-house hasn’t shied away from such inclusions. In its blockbuster space opera Mass Effect 3, players have the option of pursuing same-sex romances; there are numerous openly gay characters, too. This could have caused some to avoid the multi-million selling series’ conclusion, but Gaider said that he thinks there is equal evidence of some people buying the games because of their accepting nature. He posited that as a result, other publishers and developers will likely follow suit because they’re “copycats.” For the panel’s full conversation, read Joystiq‘s report about the “hump of assumptions” associated with LGBTQ representation in games like The Sims and Jade Empire.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Skips On Subscriber Reward Due To “Technical Hurdles”

Star Wars: The Old Republic Skips On Subscriber Reward Due To Technical HurdlesBioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic got off to a pretty good start, but unfortunately over time they started to lose players and eventually dropped the subscription model in favor of going free-to-play. However this seemed a bit unfair to gamers who have been loyally paying for the service and BioWare announced that they would be rewarding their subscribers to show their appreciation for their loyalty to the game. The first wave of rewards were handed out in the form of Cartel Coins, and a second round of rewards was supposed to be given as well, but it looks like that will no longer be happening.

This was confirmed by Eric Musco, the Community Manager of Star Wars: The Old Republic , whose statement revealed that the reason behind the cancellation of the reward was because of technical hurdles in which they will not be able to deliver on their promise. The “tech hurdles” were not specified but either way SWTOR players will not be receiving any rewards in the near future. The good news is that BioWare are looking at other ways in which they can reward their players, although when exactly will this reward be given out remains to be seen.
