BlackBerry Q10 hitting Verizon and T-Mobile next month

With all of the BlackBerry news coming your way today, it’s easy to forget about the BlackBerry Q10 and that it’s coming to Verizon and T-Mobile in the US later next month. Both carriers made the announcement today that the new QWERTY-equipped Q10 running BlackBerry 10 will arrive at Verizon and T-Mobile in June, although exact dates weren’t disclosed.

As for the Verizon version, customers will have their pick at either the black or white model, with the white version being a Verizon exclusive. The carrier hasn’t announced any pricing details yet for the new device, but it’s likely that the phone will sell for $250 after signing a two-year contract with Big Red.

As for T-Mobile, they also mentioned a generic June release window, and since the company recently got off the contract bandwagon, you’ll be paying full price for the BlackBerry Q10 on T-Mobile, with a $99 down payment with 24 monthly payments of $20 a piece. This means you’ll be paying $580 for the phone, but like with other pre-paid plans, there’s no contract to hold you down over two years.

As for pre-orders, Verizon said that customers will be able to reserve their own Q10 unit sometime “in the coming weeks.” T-Mobile has yet to announce any pre-order plans, but we’re guessing they’ll let customers get in on the fun early by purchasing a unit ahead of time.

It was rumored back in February that the Q10 wouldn’t launch until this month at the earliest, with June also being a possible release window, and it seems that the rumors were true. We haven’t heard anything from AT&T yet, but they’ve already confirmed that they’ll be offering the new device, so we’re guessing that Ma Bell will release the Q10 around the same time as the other carriers.

Verizon CEO ‘Hints’ At BlackBerry Q10 And Lumia 928 Release

Verizon CEO Hints At BlackBerry Q10 And Lumia 928 Release

During an investor conference earlier today, Verizon CEO Dan Mead said that there’s an important opportunity in their industry for both BlackBerry and Windows Phone. Both of these ailing platforms are widely considered as natural contenders for the third spot in the market that is largely dominated by Apple and Samsung. Windows Phone has struggled quite a lot in the start, whereas it has only been four months since BlackBerry 10 was launched. Dan also said that three or four operating systems are good for the industry and “good for us.”

These remarks come at a time with it has nearly been confirmed that Verizon will be announcing Nokia Lumia 928 soon, which will be exclusive to this network. Its also a time when analysts believe BlackBerry Q10 will outsell the Z10, having only been released late last month, the QWERTY BlackBerry 10 smartphone has been doing quite well in the market. Regarding the smartphone, Dan said “We’re hopeful it will meet the needs for our customers who have been loyal BlackBerry customers.” While the carrier has officially not announced carrying either smartphone, this could be taken as a hint, given how there’s substantial evidence for the Lumia 928 and the fact that Verizon already carries the BlackBerry Z10.

Analyst Believes BlackBerry Q10 Will Outsell The Z10

Analyst Believes BlackBerry Q10 Will Outsell The Z10

Well before BlackBerry announced its new BlackBerry 10 operating system and two new devices in January, analysts were saying that this would be a make it or break it moment for the company. The company’s stock has lost its value substantially over the past couple of years, there have been management shakeups at the top and quite a number of employees have been laid off as BlackBerry tightens its belt. Some analysts had also claimed that the company’s Z10 smartphone was seeing disappointing sales in the U.S., a statement which BlackBerry firmly spoke out against. As far as overall sales figures are concerned, the Q10 smartphone is believed to outsell the Z10.

Macquarie Capital’s Kevin Smithen believes that BlackBerry Q10 will make up for a substantial amount of overall BB10 smartphone sales. He believes that the company will ship 4.3 million BB10 devices this month. The Q10′s advantage over Z10 is that it sits well with traditional BlackBerry users who just can’t get over the physical QWERTY keyboard, which as per reviews, is amazing on the Q10. The particular smartphone is also deemed favorable for enterprise customers which account for over 13 million of BlackBerry’s user base. Did you buy a new BlackBerry 10 device for yourself? If yes, which one was it?

Gold-plated Blackberry Q10 Will Set You Back Over $2,000

Gold plated Blackberry Q10 Will Set You Back Over $2,000The Blackberry Q10 when bought off-contract is a little pricey, especially considering that one could get more popular devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5 at those prices. However for the hardcore Blackberry fan, we guess the fact that the Q10 comes with the latest Blackberry 10 and a familiar physical QWERTY keyboard layout could justify its price. However if you have some extra cash to splash, the folks over a Goldgenie have created a Blackberry Q10 which has been made out of gold! Yes, as you can see in the photo above, this gold plated Q10 will feature a 24ct gold-plated bezel, and a 24ct gold integrated panel beneath the key pad which we have to say is pretty excessive. Apart from its luxurious gold-plated treatment, the handset’s hardware remains exactly the same as its more wallet-friendly counterpart, but if you have £1597 ($2,478) to spare, you can buy one for yourself via Goldgenie’s website. Analyst Claims Canadian BlackBerry Q10 Sales Off To A Good Start

Analyst Claims Canadian BlackBerry Q10 Sales Off To A Good Start

Many people were skeptical when BlackBerry announced its new devices back in January. It almost seemed as if the Z10 was off to a sluggish start, that coupled with the fact that the smartphone arrived in U.S. over two months late, many analysts were busy writing everything off. It was then reported that the return rates of Z10 in U.S. were abnormally high, the company took stern notice of this and claimed that return rates were in line with their internal expectations. A lot was riding on BlackBerry’s second smartphone, the Q10, which went on sale in Canada on the 1st of May. Jefferies Analyst Peter Misek claims in a note that this smartphone is selling quite well in Canada.

Citing store checks of various outlets in Toronto, Misek says that Q10 sales provide a very positive outlook and that it has solid momentum in its launch week. Many stores are selling out of units or are seeing extremely limited availability. Though it obviously remains to be seen if the major number of Q10 buyers are those who are shifting from a legacy BlackBerry to a new one that has a keyboard. Would the Q10 be able to do just as good in the U.S. or are the only people who will be buying it are those who’re merely upgrading to a better BlackBerry?

BlackBerry Makes Nominal Usage Share Gain in April

BlackBerry Makes Nominal Usage Share Gain in April

The recent struggle of BlackBerry to turn itself around is no secret. Back in January they revealed their latest OS, BlackBerry 10, and also announced two new devices that are powered by it. Initially only the BlackBerry Z10 was available, while the Q10 went on sale in the last few days of April. Numbers from Net Applications reveal that off the back of Z10 sales BlackBerry has made a nominal gane in the usage, browser and operating system that is, share.

Currently it only accounts for a minute 1.51% of the global usage share. To put things in perspective, iOS reigns over every other platform with 59.04%. BlackBerry’s share is actually lower than that of Symbian, which currently stands at 1.73%. BlackBerry has gained from 1.38% in March 2013 to 1.51% in April 2013. While its a very nominal gain, it does provide a good momentum for the company’s second new smartphone, which has apparently been selling like hot cakes in the U.K. Some analysts had claimed that the Z10′s sales were disappointing in the U.S., though the company took strong notice of that and stated that sales were in line with their internal expectations. It remains to be seen how much of an improvement does the Q10 bring in these numbers.
