TREWGrip Mobile QWERTY is going to test your keyboard prowess

QWERTY Mobile TREWGrip
There are some things that we become so accustomed to that we feel uncomfortable when they change. Keyboards have been relatively the same for a very long while, and even though there are a few strange variants out there, not all of them work for everyone. This is the prime reason why the layout hasn’t changed too drastically for the masses. As our technology evolves more and more, we need faster ways to input information that doesn’t cause our hands to cramp up so easily.

While it’s not the first rear-type keyboard to emerge onto the market, the TREWGrip Mobile QWERTY is hoping to be a more ergonomic option for typists. It’s perfect for those who have fingers that block the screen of their phone, but need to write one or more important emails in a short amount of time while on the go. This can connect to your phone, tablet, TV, or PC through Bluetooth.

The standard QWERTY keyboard has been split and rotated for this device so that you can touch-type quickly and effectively. It does say that you need about 8-10 hours on it to become proficient, but judging the amount of time we spend at our computers daily anyway, that is only a day or two. Initially this was made for healthcare professionals, but once it was seen as a product that can be used by mobile device users everywhere, they’re of course not going to turn down the possibility for more money. It’s not going to be available for some time, but it will cost somewhere between $250-350. More information should surface in the coming week as it will be shown at CES.

The Polaroid Socialmatic – “Instant” Gratification

Official_1_little

Ah the memories, our old Polaroid SX-70 camera and the uber-expensive 10 pack of film… mugging it up, and then waving the pic in the air, or rubbing it on your pants thinking that magically would make it develop faster. The Polaroid instant camera is an icon, and one that has taken up where it left off, with this new high-tech development.

Welcome the New Polaroid Socialmatic, a cool concept gadget that has become the real deal. Comprised of a 14 megapixel front facing camera with flash, a 4.3 inch touchscreen LCD display, a Zero Ink printer and GPS, Wifi and Bluetooth capabilities, this baby’s cool-factor comes in its printing and sharing capabilities.

Check it out… when you take a picture with the back, or front facing camera, you can instantly share it on Facebook, or other social media sites using the built-in software over a Wi-Fi network, but the magic is that, at the same time, you can print out a little photo that will contain a QR code so other Socialmatic users can easily scan it and get a digital copy from Polaroid’s servers, and reprint it for themselves.

The Android based Polaroid Socialmatic looks like a fun, must-have for every teenager, or social media junkie on the planet… but I don’t know the price yet, that will certainly be a determining factor. It will be available early this year, we’ll keep you posted!

Griffin PowerMate Bluetooth for OS X: Twist & Scrub

According to Griffin, its PowerMate knob and button gained a “dedicated user base.” I don’t know whether that’s one thousand or one million users, but apparently that base is dedicated enough that Griffin was compelled to release an update to the PowerMate Bluetooth, which now connects to OS X 10.8+ computers via NFC. Just kidding. It uses Bluetooth. I was testing you. You passed.

Out of the box, you can use the PowerMate Bluetooth to adjust the volume or mute your Mac. It also has preset controls for iMovie and Garageband. But it also comes with a companion software where you can add commands for various programs and manage multiple units. Griffin also gave a few instances where the device was hacked. People used it as a MIDI controller, as a gaming display and an audio visualizer. Mike Flaminio checked out the PowerMate Bluetooth at the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES):

The PowerMate Bluetooth will be available this summer for $60 (USD). Honestly I think the Palette will get you more bang for your buck, but if you really want a wireless setup then the PowerMate Bluetooth may be what you’re looking for.
