Zite Launches for Google Glass and version 2.0 on Android

Mark Johnson, CEO, Zite using his app on Google Glass

Zite is the news application that was bought by CNN in August 2011, its 2.0 version was launched for iOS in December 2012, and today, Android devices owners will get access to Zite 2.0. The company is going full force to Google, so the lucky people who could afford the $1500 Google Glass will be able to enjoy the wearable Zite experience.

I had the opportunity to try Zite for Google Glass during my meeting with Mark Johnson, CEO, Zite, and it was surprisingly an interesting experience. Zite gives the ability to scroll through the last ten top stories, the headlines are easy to read  and you can ask Glasseitther to read you an article aloud or go to the website.

Sony NEX-5T with WiFi, NFC and Fast Hybrid AF

Sony NEX 5T with WiFi, NFC and Fast Hybrid AF

At Ubergizmo, in addition to our two Canon EOS-50D we carry the NEX-5N – we bought all those devices –  to shoot videos during briefings and conferences, and we are overall very happy with the photo quality and the high quality microphone that can be attached to the body. So we were quite excited when we could briefly get our hands on the new Sony NEX-5T that has a similar look as its (much) older sibling.

The 16.1 MP NEX-5T is the first Sony interchangeable lens camera to feature NFC that allows one-touch connection with compatible Android smartphones and tablets, for image and video sharing across devices.

    Sony α3000 “DSLR-Style” Camera Launched

Sony α3000 DSLR Style Camera Launched

Sony just made the α3000 (alpha 3000) official. As previous web rumors indicated, it is an entry-level “DSLR-style” (design-wise) camera which is built for those who like the “feel” of DSLR cameras, without diving into complex image capture settings. Basically, the goal is to marry DSLR-like image quality and lens options flexibility, with the ease of use of a point and shoot. In short, the Sony a3000 could satisfy a large consumer base which plans to upgrade from a point and shoot to something much better, without having to become “photography enthusiast”. “Point and shoot” simplicity remains a priority here.

Emotiv Insight: Neuroheadset and Motion Sensor In One Package

Emotiv Insight: Neuroheadset and Motion Sensor In One PackageEmotiv, the company that has pioneered Electroencephalography (EGG) for the consumer market is working on a new product with more sensors. If you are not familiar with EGG, it is the recording of the brain’s electrical activity via sensors on the scalp.

The technology was initially used to study sleep disorders or diagnose coma conditions. However, the technology can also be applied to basic game controls, and that’s how it initially made its way to the market when I first tried it in 2008. Since then, it has been used to control robots, web sites, and some have even theorized that one day, our thoughts could be hacked.

    Moto X Hands-On, First Real-World Impressions

Moto X Hands On, First Real World ImpressionsWith the new Moto X, Motorola has found three ways to fundamentally change how we use a smartphone: a voice command to wake it up for hands-free voice control, a screwdriver-like wrist twist to wake up the phone and camera to capture a photo within two seconds, and Active Display to provide the time and other notifications without having to actually turn the phone on. Some of these, of course, work better than others.
