CEO Tim Cook discussed Apple’s beautiful and ambitious “spaceship” campus during the company’s shareholders meeting back in February, saying it was aiming for a grand opening in 2016. Such ambitions have been contingent on city approval, however, something it is closer to gaining via a thumbs-up vote from the Cupertino planning commission it received today. […]
Not everyone likes to be around a significant number of people. especially not while on a holiday vacation. I don’t know about you, but a trip to Alcatraz Island would be an enjoyable way to spend a few days away from it all. It isn’t a prison, but The Seafort Hotel is equally cool with similar benefits of isolation.
Sega, which was hit with a lawsuit in May over false advertisement for the game Aliens: Colonial Marines, has confirmed that it has laid off some of its employees in the United States, though specifics — namely, the number of employees who were let go — hasn’t been specified. In June, Microsoft saw Windows 8 market share overtake Vista, at the time laying claim to 5.1-percent among every desktop OS in June 2013, trumping Vista’s 4.62-percent for the same month. While the Twitterati waited with heightened anticipation for its beloved
social network to file its public offering (IPO) papers with the
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this past week, it appears the

LG Gate to tackle enterprise smartphone security with encryption, VPNs and more
Posted in: Today's ChiliSamsung chose to name part of its enterprise smartphone security suite after an Army post, but LG’s going for something entirely more generic: Gate. The company’s solution appears to work much like JK Shin and Co.’s, safeguarding both private and business data as they coexist on a phone, allowing outfits to use a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) setup. By wielding Gate, users can encrypt their hardware’s data, use a VPN and make the lives of IT departments easier thanks to mobile device management features. It’s not clear the software will be offered gratis, but it sounds like it’ll be available just in time for the G2’s trip stateside.
