Twitter nabs former Google media ad sales chief to push TV and movie expansion
Posted in: Today's ChiliConsidering how many people use Twitter to channel their inner Mike Nelson, it’s no surprise to see the social network pushing to cozy up to Hollywood. That’s why the company has poached Jennifer Prince, formerly Google’s head of entertainment ad sales, to pimp Twitter out as a “social soundtrack” for TV and movies. According to Variety, Prince will spend the first two weeks in the job meeting with cigar-chomping moguls, although Twitter has denied that it’s also getting into the original content business. Just imagine, all of this effort to make sure you can mock Simon Cowell during The X Factor.

Whatever you feel about Beats’ audio, you can’t help but think that the company’s partnership with HTC hasn’t really worked out. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Dr. Dre and Co. are planning to buy back the phone maker’s remaining 25 percent stake in the business — just a year after HTC reduced its stake by half. Either way, we’re hoping that this potential separation helps HTC get back to winning ways and frees up Dr. Dre to resuming prescribing those pills he’s now so fond of.
