Call of Duty: Ghosts receives official Activision and Infinity Ward nod

After a handful of leaks and rumors, the next Call of Duty game has been officially teased by publisher Activision. The official Call of Duty Twitter account posted earlier today, revealing “the next generation of Call of Duty,” with a link to the official Facebook page of the game, which looks to have just been launched, as details are still pretty scarce.

Infinity Ward also officially announced the new game on their Twitter feed, linking to a teaser trailer of the new game. The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the game, but it does point out a few details. At the end of the trailer, it says that the game will see a live demo at Microsoft’s May 21 event where the next Xbox will be revealed, confirming that the game will hit next-gen consoles.

The trailer also gives us a good look at what we assume will be the main protagonist in the game, and we’re assuming it’s Ghost himself, as you can see him put on that iconic skull balaclava toward the end of the trailer. Further details aren’t yet known, but we should be hearing more about the game later this month.

Both Amazon and GameStop are now accepting pre-orders for the game as well, with a release date slated for November 5, 2013. Neither retailer lists the game for the PlayStation 4, but we’re guessing that if the game is coming to the Xbox 720, we’ll also see it on the PlayStation 4 as well.

Call of Duty: Ghosts poster tips early holiday release

We first heard about solid details on the next Call of Duty game last week, thanks to a leaked Target promo ad. However, while Target listed the game for a November 5 release date, we took that with a heavy grain of salt, since retailers don’t always get the release date right. However, according to a leaked poster of the game, November 5 is indeed the date that we’ll see the game release.

IGN ended up getting a hold of the leaked promo poster from GameStop, and it lists November 5 at the bottom. Furthermore, Activision recently launched a teaser website for the upcoming game, which displays a skull that is most likely referring to the mask that Lt. Simon “Ghost” Riley wore in past Call of Duty titles.

The title of the game, along with the teaser website hints at the possibility that Call of Duty: Ghosts will follow Lt. Riley as the main protagonist in the game. The man shown on the box art and promo posters could actually be Ghost himself, as it looks like he is pulling off the skull mask that he iconically wears.

According to the game’s box art, it seems it will release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows, and the Wii U. IGN says that an official reveal of Call of Duty: Ghosts will be expected tomorrow, so you can be sure that we’ll hear more details about the game real soon. In the meantime, we’ll ponder over the implications of a Ghost-based Call of Duty game.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Could Be Unveiled On May 1 [Rumor]

Call of Duty: Ghosts Could Be Unveiled On May 1 [Rumor]

We’ve seen the box art for something called “Call of Duty: Ghosts“ pop up last week and earlier this morning, it showed up in Spanish retailer’s Xtralife’s product listings where it’s expected to be released on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U. But when will either Infinity Ward or Activision make the big unveiling of what looks to be their next Call of Duty game?

According to a recently leaked blueprints for a promotional display for Call of Duty: Ghosts, it looks as though we could be hearing about the game on May 1st as the blueprints clearly state its display should arrive by 5/1 and should not be displayed until that date. At this point, it’s unknown what will exactly be revealed on May 1 as Activision can choose to simply officially release the next Call of Duty game’s box art and call it a day. Or, if Activision follows their reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, we could maybe see a trailer on May 1 along with some basic story details.

Either way, Call of Duty fans should circle May 1 on their calendars as being a pretty important day to check the Internet to hear more about Call of Duty: Ghosts.

PC, PS3 To Get Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 Uprising This May 16thIt was sometime in the middle of this month when the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Uprising map pack was made available to faithful peons of the Xbox 360, leaving owners of the Sony PS3 scratching their heads in dismay, wondering when will they be able to enjoy what the Xbox 360 owners were ranting about over the past 9 days or so. Call Of Duty: Ghosts Box Art Appears Online

Call Of Duty: Ghosts Box Art Appears OnlineSome time in the middle of this month, we did bring you word that the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Uprising Map Pack was made available to those who are rocking to the Xbox 360. Assuming you are one of the hardcore gamers who is looking forward to more hard hitting Call of Duty stuff, here is something for you to mull over – Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Yes sir, apparently, the Call of Duty: Ghosts box art has already appeared online, only to be removed in double quick time, not to mention the possibility of this leak being very real has been exacerbated when a Target ad for the very same game also leaked out. Could Call of Duty: Ghosts actually be the next FPS that will earn Infinity Ward a whole lot more moolah? Only time will tell, and we await with bated breath.

Call of Duty: Ghosts appears in retail promo ads

If history is any indication, then it’s quite clear that yet another Call of Duty game will be released this fall. However, we’ve yet to really hear any solid details about the new title. However, leaked box art and promo ads have shown up, with the title of the game being Call of Duty: Ghosts and a release date of November 5, 2013.

The box art first showed up on Tesco Direct’s website, but the listing has since been removed. However, a Target circular has also been leaked, which shows the title art of the game, with a release date of November 5, 2013 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The promotion is for $10 off any game $49.99 or higher when you pre-order Call of Duty: Ghosts.

According to Charlie Intel, who obtained the leak, the new Call of Duty title is also expected to be announced “any day now,” according to their sources. While the rumored release date for the game seems more than plausible, retailers almost always use placeholders until they find out the official release date for a game, so November 5 may not be the actual release date.

We’re not sure if the title of the game is a reference to one of the characters in past Call of Duty titles, named Ghost, who is most-known for wearing that iconic skull-faced balaclava. If the game is, in fact, based around Ghost, it should be quite a doozy, as Ghost is one of the more favorited characters in the series. However, we’ll keep this with a grain of salt for now until we hear official word.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Uprising Map Pack Now Available On Xbox 360

The wait for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2′s new Uprising map pack wasn’t that long considering Treyarch’s last map pack, Revolution, was released on January 29 on the Xbox 360 and then a few weeks later on the PlayStation 3 and PC. Treyarch announced Uprising would be launched on April 16 earlier this month, and if our calculations are correct, this means today is the day Xbox 360 players have been waiting for as Uprising is now officially available.

As we reported when Uprising was first announced, players can expect to play through four new multiplayer maps: Magma, which is set in a Japanese village surrounded with volcanic eruptions, Encore has you playing through the aftermath of a deserted London music festival, Vertigo takes you to a futuristic, Indian high-rise and last, but certainly not least, is Studio which is a remake of Black Ops’ Firing Range. Black Ops 2 Uprising’s Mob Of The Dead Highlighted In New Trailer

Activision and Treyarch announced last week it would be delivering a new map pack for its Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 called Uprising. The map pack will come with four new multiplayer maps and an all-new co-op zombies campaign called Mob of the Dead. The new zombies campaign will star four iconic actors who have performed numerous mobster roles, which is why both Activision and Treyarch decided to highlight Mob of the Dead in a new trailer.

Mob of the Dead stars the voices and the likenesses of Ray Liotta, Chazz Palminteri, Michael Madsen and Joe Pantoliano as they play four mobsters who find themselves trapped on Alcatraz Island. Lucky for them, they’re not alone, as the entire island has been overrun with zombies who want nothing more than have a meatball sub with the mobsters’ brains. (more…)

Black Ops 2 Uprising Map Pack Marks The Return Of The Replacers

When Call of Duty: Black Ops 2′s Revolution Map Pack was close to being released, Activision knew you’d be spending a lot of time with the game, which is why they suggested you used their Replacer services. With the upcoming release of Black Ops 2′s Uprising Map Pack, The Replacers are back to help you with those important moments in life you need to attend, but would much rather be playing Black Ops 2. This time, the original Replacer Peter Stormare brought along a buddy to help with his replacing this time, actor J.B. Smoove.

As with the previously released Replacer video, you’ll be given a short snippet of the new Uprising map pack, but the main focus of the video will be some of the more humorous job roles the Replacers will have to take up just so you can get some more quality time with Black Ops 2′s newest DLC. You’ll see the Replacers making “Sammiches,” defending the public and fixing the cable to name a few of their roles in the video.
