If you’ve pre-ordered one of the two Blackmagic cinema cams announced at NAB this year, there’s good, not-so-good and bad news coming out of a Blackmagic event yesterday. First the good: Blackmagic’s Pocket Cinema model, which stunned observers with its 1080P RAW specs and sub-$1,000 price tag, should start shipping in a few days. That’s close to the July 25th date promised for both cameras, although there could be a not-so-good caveat. John Brawley (who showed off the Pocket Cinema’s first pristine images) told forum users that it would likely only have ProRes 422 support, and not RAW, at first — though Blackmagic told us they “couldn’t confirm” that. As for the bad part, those who laid down the most cash ($4,000 or so) will have to wait for the Production Camera 4K. The company told event-goers it wouldn’t arrive until early September now, but when we reached out for clarification, it gave the following statement:
With regards to the Production Camera 4K there is still several weeks of work to do before this enters full production manufacturing, however we expect to ship the first quantities of this model before the end of August.
Still, given the company’s track record of delays with the original Cinema Camera, you may want to avoid relying on that info for any time-specific projects.

Panasonic GX7 digital camera image and specs leak with on-sensor stabilization
Posted in: Today's ChiliPanasonic is gearing up to release a new digital camera – the GX7 – based on the Four Third L1 device. Little has been known about this upcoming device until now, with a leak having surfaced from the German magazine Foto Magazine showing both the front and back of the device, as well as a roster of its specifications.
According to the leaked information, the Panasonic GX7 will feature a 16-megapixel sensor, although some past leaks have indicated it would feature an 18-megapixel offering. As 4/3 Rumors pointed out, this could mean the camera utilizes the larger sensor while having 16 effective megapixels, which isn’t unheard of, though nothing official is known either way.
That aside, the body itself has quite the retro flair and is made from magnesium, being available in either all-black or a silver and black color combination. The LCD is hinged so that it can be tilted, and measures in at 3-inch inches with 1.04 million dots. There’s also an integrated stereo microphone in the camera to go alongside the video recording feature.
Reportedly, the GX7 will have an on-sensor image stabilizer, which will be a first for Panasonic if it proves to be true. There’s also an electronic view finder, which is also tiltable and has 2.76 million dots. The shutter speed is said to go up to 1/8000, and there’s a 5-frames-per-second image burst setting, which drops by a single frame if continuous autofocus is used.
Not much else is known beyond this, except that connectivity will be comprised of both WiFi and NFC, and that there’s focus peaking. The body of the GX7 will be priced at 1,000 Euros, and will be launched in September. Two different kits will be available as well, one with a 14 – 42mm lens and with a 20mm lens.

In 1840, Joseph Petzval invented an optical portrait lens, which for the rest of the century would be used to take loads of photos. Now, the retro-fanatics at Lomography have reengineered the lens from the ground up for today’s Canon and Nikon cameras. And the photos are incredible.
Panasonic is going to release the 14mm thin classic looking compact digital camera “DMC-XS3″ from their lumix series on August 22.
“DMC-XS3″ has a 5X optical zoom 24mm wide-angle lens with high sensitivity MOS sensor. Because of the MOS sensor and Venus Engine, it is able to take high-quality night view photos in a dark situation.
There are several features that helps you to take a photo the way you want – “Creative Control” and “Creative touch” that you can apply special filter effect after taking a photo, or “Creative Panorama” that you can apply special effect for panoramic photos, or “Beauty Touch” that girls might like.
Price: About ¥20,000
Size: 92.2 x 54.4 x 18.5mm
Weight: 89g (only the body part)
Image sensor: 1/2.33inch MOS sensor (15.3 million total pixels)
Effective pixel: 14.1 million pixels

Panasonic – DMC-FZ70 – Lumix camera with the world’s first 60X optical zoom
Posted in: Today's ChiliPanasonic is releasing new Lumix camera “DMC-FZ70″ with the world’s first 60X optical zoom on August 22.
“DMC-FZ70″ has 16.1M MOS Sensor and Venus Engine built-in, which minimize the noise generation and create high-definition images. It offers 20mm wide-angle to 1,200mm (60X) long zoom. With the image stabilizer “POWER O.I.S.”, you don’t need to worry too much about camera shake when shooting with 1200mm long zoom.

Size: 130.2 x 97.0 x 118.2mm
Weight: 562g (only the body part)
Monitor: 3.0 inch 460000 dot TFT monitor, frame coverage about 100%
Effective pixel: 16.1 million pixels
Image sensor: 1/2.3 inch MOS sensor (16.8 million total pixel)
When it was invented in 1840, the Petzval lens revolutionized photography thanks to its f/3.6 aperture. It’s legendary for producing images with super sharp centers and unique backgrounds with a whirly bokeh — as such it’s particularly well suited for shooting portraits. Most Petzval lenses today are defective because of age and not optimized for modern cameras, so Lomography set out to reinvent the lens for the 21st century. The company just launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring the Petzval lens back for $300 — it’s teaming up with Zenit to manufacture high-quality lenses for analog and digital SLRs with Nikon F and Canon EF mounts. Lomography’s Petzval lens is made of brass, features a gear rack focusing mechanism and comes with a Waterhouse aperture set (f/2.2, f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/11 and f/16). Are you as intrigued as we are?
