DNP Switched On the watch and the workhorse

In mature, competitive markets flooded with products, many brands come and go. Last week, though, two companies came to New York City to celebrate milestone anniversaries of their electronic products. Lenovo celebrated the 20th anniversary of the ThinkPad as Casio marked the 30th anniversary of the G-Shock watch. The notebook PC remains among the most versatile and complex devices consumers use today while the watch is one of the simplest. Yet some commonality between these two products may include lessons for other technology products that wish to remain around for decades.

Casio has new 30th anniversary G-Shock Red Line models

Love telling the time? Well, you might as well do it in style, and Casio has just the thing for you with their latest G-Shock 30th anniversary watch which is set for a release in April next year. In fact, Casio has already lined up its fair share of event that will kick off around the world to commemorate three decades’ worth of their G-Shock line of tough timepieces. Sure, these are not Rolexes or Breitlings, and there is no need to look after them for the next generation just like a Patek. Boasting a vivid red color, it is reminiscent of the rising sun that is paired with the gold accents and back plate in order to make it a worthy candidate for a 30th anniversary timepiece.

Each watch’s design is a throwback to some of the most popular models as you glean through the G-Shock range’s history. Do bear in mind that time and tide wait for no man, and so too does this 30th anniversary G-Shock Red Line timepiece as it will be a limited edition release that has a run of just 12,000 units across the quartet of models. Needless to say, placing your order early would make plenty of sense in this case.

Casio’s Tablet Appeals To the Pen and Paper Crowd [Tablets]

With a touchscreen keyboard and interface, the iPad has made great strides in pushing printing and writing towards extinction. But Casio sees a different future with its new Paper Writer tablets. A future where hand-written notes and tablets live side-by-side in perfect harmony. More »

Casio Paper Writer tablets merge the best of both worlds

What can you equate the Casio Paper Writer tablets with? I suppose the closest relevant item that comes to mind in my opinion would be the modern day smartphone that has a slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard of sorts. Yes sir, while the rest of the world has more or less moved on to a full touchscreen display and gotten used to virtual keyboards, there are some others who prefer a more tactile experience. So the same can be said for a full tablet experience – others prefer the feel of writing and drawing on paper, and who can blame them? The Casio Paper Writer tablets might just fill this niche nicely, coming in Paper Writer V-N500-WJ, V-N500-J, V-T500-WJ, and V-T500-J models that will boast pen input on the tablet’s display, in addition to having paper notepads so that you are able to transform your scribbles into digital files.
