Griffin PowerMate Bluetooth takes the wireless route

powermate-bluetoothGriffin Technology has taken the step to introduce an upgrade to its PowerMate device, by throwing in wireless connectivity in the form of the Griffin PowerMate Bluetooth. This is stylish power tool for both the novice and pro computer user, where one might take a glance at it and wonder just what the heck does it do. I suppose you are able to describe it to be a clickable knob, as the PowerMate Bluetooth can be programmed for it to execute a wide range of key commands in virtually any application. Apart from that, users are able to streamline routine tasks including editing home movies like a pro, scroll through long (and hopefully not boring!) documents, or creating audio masterpieces.

The PowerMate Bluetooth will function beautifully as a convenient volume knob and mute button for Bluetooth 4.0 enabled Mac computers, but that would just be scratching the surface. PowerMate has been preset to play nice with iMovie and GarageBand right out of the box, which would make editing a painless and quick affair.

It will not remain within the confines of the multimedia department though, since users will also be able to follow the easy instructions in order to add custom commands within their preferred applications. You can opt to spin PowerMate like a wheel so that you can move through large multimedia files in a jiffy, in addition to spreadsheet and word processor documents, or opt to click it like a mouse to select text or perform commands.

The PowerMate Bluetooth has a gleaming brushed aluminum exterior, where it will sport a soothing blue glowing base. You will be able to take control of the behavior of this pulsing LED in order to know the current system status at a glance. Multiple PowerMates can be paired using Bluetooth connectivity, hence kissing goodbye to entangled wires and the ilk. Expect the PowerMate Bluetooth to arrive later this summer for $59.99 a pop.

LG Flexible OLED TV is worth checking out

lg-flexible-oledConsumer electronics giant LG did reveal at the recently concluded CES 2014 a new kind of TV that will certainly blow your minds away – I am referring to the flexible OLED TV here, of course. LG claims that this is the first of its kind in the world, where the TV will not only arrive as a curved device, but you, the viewer, are able to control the angle of the curvature itself in order to enjoy the ultimate viewing experience where it would not have been thought of to be possible just a couple of decades ago.

Hyun-hwoi Ha President and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company, shared, “LG’s Flexible OLED TV is a product that has to be seen to be believed because it defies description. What curved is to flat, flexible is to curved. LG continues to lead the evolution of televisions into the next generation.”

Basically, with this flexible OLED TV, you will be able to use the included TV remote to alter the curvature of the display in order to suit your viewing experience. As for the range of the curvature itself, it is determined by taking into account key factors which will affect the viewing experience, where among them include screen size as well as viewing distance.

Not only that, you might think that this TV, being a prototype to begin with, is going to be small just for testing purposes. I thought so, and I was sorely mistaken, since this bad boy happens to be a 77″ flexible OLED TV, where it has been subjected to tens of thousands of hours of tests in order to ensure the reliability and durability of its unique display. Talk about a “grand slam” of firsts when it comes to the OLED TV universe – being flat, curved and now, flexible. Needless to say, pricing details and availability have yet to be divulged, but it sure as heck ain’t gonna come cheap!

Best of CES 2014 Ubergizmo Awards

Last week, we gave 10 Best of CES awards, and the physical trophies have already been delivered, but as a last look back on CES 2014, here’s the list for the record, and why we like those products or technologies. Here they are, in no particular order and see you next year for another crazy week in Las Vegas. Drop a comment to let us know what your favorite CES product was!

    1/ Intel Edison

Best of CES 2014 Ubergizmo AwardsIntel wants to enter the wearable tech market and their Edison SD-Card sized computer may just get them there much faster. We have seen some pretty small computers in the past, some as small as a shirt button, but Intel’s is basically a PC shrunk into the size of a memory card. The choice for using the SD card format is astute because device makers can already have access to a wealth of options to build their hardware. While the card uses the SD Card physical format, it is not limited at all by the SD protocol, so developers are free to build any system they want. We can’t wait to see the first prototypes. (more…)

    bēm wireless Speaker Band unveiled

bem-wirelessAt every CES, you know for sure that this will be a hotbed for technological advances as well as innovation. Having said that, we are curious to see what the folks over at bēm wireless have in store for the year ahead, and apparently the bēm wireless Speaker Band looks set to capture our attention. In fact, this Speaker Band is a stylish extension of your smartphone or tablet, and it was specially created to cater to those who happen to carry their smartphones with them wherever they go. The presence of the Speaker Band would allow your smartphone to literally be “on you”, or rather, on your wrist if you want to get down to the nitty gritty of things.

With this puppy, you are able to make calls or attend to calls regardless of whether you are in your ride cruising down the freeway, or jamming to the latest tunes as you walk your four legged kid. No longer do you need to fumble around in your purse or briefcase for your smartphone anymore each time it rings, you can turn into Dick Tracy yourself with the bēm wireless Speaker Band, managing both your calls as well as music with it.

The bēm wireless Speaker Band will hook up to any Bluetooth-enabled device, where it features multifunction buttons that enable you to play, pause, answer, skip and reverse. As mentioned earlier, you are able to safely engage in conversations even when you are behind the wheel, thanks to its built-in microphone, and to sweeten the deal, this puppy is also compatible with majority of the voice recognition apps that are out there in the market. Apart from that, the Speaker Band also features a caller ID function, letting you know just who is on the other side of the line before you pick up.

Expect this puppy to ship at the end of the month for $49.99 a pop.

CyberNotes: New Travel Gadgets Introduced at CES

This article was written on January 20, 2007 by CyberNet.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) just wrapped up about at week ago in Las Vegas.  This is a chance for companies to show off all of their latest and greatest products among other things.  Several handy gadgets perfect for the traveler were on display, and here’s a look at some of them:

    –Casio Slim Video Projector–

What makes this Casio Super Slim Projector unique is that it’s very powerful, yet small.  In fact, it’s about the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper.  This makes it easy to carry, and easy to pack. Features you’d enjoy with model XJ-S30:

    • Zoom: 2x optical zoom means that you can project onto a screen as close as 32″ away. If you’re in a limited space environment, this would work out great
    • Keystone correction: This makes it possible to project an undistorted image onto a screen from just about any angle. No adjustments have to be made to square up the image.
    • Wireless remote: Makes giving presentations easier
    • Quiet fan: You won’t have to worry about the fan over-powering your voice. People will still be able to hear you as you use this.
    • Weight; Less than 4 pounds!

Another Casio model is the XJS35 which has similar features, but more options for connectivity. What’s great about these projectors is that between them, they offer inputs that would allow you to connect a variety of different electronic devices to it, including your Xbox!

    Price: Around $1500

    –Bushnell ONIX 400 GPS Device–

Bushnell has hooked up with XM Satellite radio to bring you a GPS system that will help you stay connected to your favorite sports teams, and music while you’re on the go.  They have yet to add this device to their product page, however, it’s expected at some point. The device can handle immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes which will definitely suit the rugged traveler.

Because it works with XM Satellite radio, it has the modular XM dataport that accepts XM accessories (like antenna headphones, and docks). This is truly for an outdoorsman, and not to be used for navigation while you’re driving. It doesn’t come with any routing software.

It’s a great combination of mapping and GPS features, along with the XM capabilities.

Kodak V1003 and Kodak V803 Cameras-

At CES, Kodak announced their 10 MP and 8 MP cameras that will come in different colors like purple, blue, red, and pink. These cameras are part of their Kodak Easyshare line that has become quite popular.  Each of those cameras have 3X Kodak Retinar Aspheric All Glass Optical zoom lenses.
