Nikon D5200 US Availability Announced For Late January 2013

Nikon 08 640x426 Nikon D5200 US Availability Announced For Late January 2013[CES 2013] Back in November 2012, the Nikon D5200 camera was announced, although unfortunately it seemed that the release was for those living in Europe, Asia and Australia. Well the good news is that it looks like the rumors were right and US availability has since been announced at CES 2013. Just in case you might have forgotten, the Nikon D5200 is a 24.1MP camera with a DX-format CMOS sensor. It sports the new EXPEED 3 image processor for faster operations and better color reproduction, high ISO sensitivity, a 39-AF system shared by the Nikon D7000 series. It also features an LCD display which can swivel out, allowing photographers to snap from some pretty interesting perspectives.

Photographers will also be able to attach the WU-1A wireless mobile adapter to the camera, allowing the wireless transfer of photos from the camera to Apple and Android devices. As expected the D5200 will also be able to capture Full HD 1080p movies, and feature an updated new generation GUI design amongst other features. The Nikon D5200 is expected to be made available in the US late January 2013 and will be priced for around $900 which includes a 18-55mm kit lens.

MakerBot launching

The year of 3D printers? It’s sure looking like it from where we’re sitting. There are more companies at CES 2013 promoting consumer versions of the technology than ever before. Of course, MakerBot’s not going to sit idly by and watch this all go down. The Brooklyn-based company is set to show off its Replicator 2X Experimental 3D Printer — the dual-extruding “big brother” to its recently released second-gen printer — at a press conference tomorrow. Hopefully pricing and available will be arriving on with it.

Nyko unveils Charge Station U, Pro Commander Wii U peripherals at CES 2013

Nyko unveils Charge Station U, Pro Commander Wii U peripherals at CES 2013

In the past few years, Nyko‘s transformed from a third-party peripheral manufacturer of poor repute to one many gamers depend on for quality products. Devices like the Nintendo Wii Charge Station and the 3DS Power Pak+ went a long way in earning good will, and the latest slew of add-ons continues the company’s recent tradition. Nyko’s Charge Station U ($34.99) bolsters the standard Wii U GamePad charge stand with space for two plain Wii controllers (and includes rechargeable batteries for said Wii controllers), and its Pro Commander ($34.99) takes Nintendo’s Pro Controller and swaps the awkward analog stick placement for a more traditional feel (read: like an Xbox 360 controller).

While the former adds a $15 premium to Nintendo’s first-party charging stand, it also adds the ability to charge your Wii controllers at the same time (as well as giving them rechargeable batteries); the Pro Commander is not only a perfectly capable controller, it also shaves $15 off of Nintendo’s $50 asking price for the first-party Pro Controller. In so many words, if you buy both of these items, you’ll be spending roughly the same amount as if you had bought Nintendo’s first-party equivalents, only you get more functionality. We’ll have our first chance to get hands-on with both devices, as well as the previously announced UBoost, Charge Base Pro, and Power Stand, this week as CES 2013 rages on. You’ll be able to get your hands-on with all five starting this February when they arrive at retailers nationwide.

Gigabyte Unveils S1082 And S1185 Windows 8 Tablets

s1185 Gigabyte Unveils S1082 And S1185 Windows 8 Tablets[CES 2013] If you’re interested in picking up a new Windows 8 tablet, Gigabyte has announced two new tablets at CES 2013 – the S1185 designed for the average Joe, and the S1082 which has been designed for the not-so-average Joe, or rather the more business minded user. Starting with the S1185: this Windows 8 tablet will be powered by a 3rd generation Intel Core processor with a Full HD IPS display, with Gigabyte claiming that this tablet will deliver “ultimate performance” and a “wonderful user experience”. It will feature standard VGA and HDMI ports, a magnetically attached keyboard kit, Gigabyte mouse options, Optical Finger Navigation for PC mode usage, and dual cameras.

Next up is the S1082 which Gigabyte claims is perfect for productivity. The S1082 will be more or less the same as the S1185, with the main difference being that it will come with cellular connectivity so you don’t have to rely on WiFi all the time. It will also come in either a 500GB HDD version that will allow you to store more files, or an SSD version that will offer a “speedy user experience”. No word on pricing or availability just yet, but with all the Windows 8 competition going around, will Gigabyte be able to make a dent?

Olympus Stylus SH-50 iHS Point-And-Shoot Camera Announced With 5-Axis Video Stabilization

Olympus Stylus SH50 01 640x426 Olympus Stylus SH 50 iHS Point And Shoot Camera Announced With 5 Axis Video Stabilization
[CES 2013] When it comes to point-and-shoot cameras, the name already implies that these are probably the most basic cameras and will be good enough to get the job done, just don’t expect to be able to have full control over the camera that you would with a DSLR, or maybe a more prosumer camera.

That being said, Olympus could be looking to destroy that notion by announcing the Stylus SH-50, a point-and-shoot camera that not only offers a long zoom (24x 25-600mm equivalent), but at the same time offering up 5-axis video stabilization, a feature which the company is boasting makes it the first point-and-shoot camera to offer that. On top of the 5-axis video stabilization, and it should be worth noting that these features were only previously offered on the Olympus OM-D E-M5 flagship interchangeable lens camera.
