Buffalo MiniStation Air: More Than A Portable Drive[CES 2014] Smartphone and tablets have changed the way we carry content. People no longer need to carry around discs full of content, they can simply load up their mobile devices. However, these devices offer a limited amount of storage which often isn’t enough. In that case, portable wireless HDDs come in handy. The new Buffalo MiniStation Air is a bonafide wireless HDD, but it does much more than allowing up to eight devices to access 1TB of storage and stream content to any computer, smart TV or mobile device.

LandingZone Docking Station Plays Nice With MacBook Pro With Retina Display

LandingZone Docking Station Plays Nice With MacBook Pro With Retina Display[CES 2014] LandingZone knows that there is money to be made when it comes to accessories for hugely successful devices and computers, and you cannot get any more successful than with an Apple product, at least when we are talking about Apple products from the iPod onwards, as the years before that were actually rather lean. Having said that, LandingZone’s latest Docking Station is worth checking out if you happen to own a MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The 15” model is already available over at LandingZone.net, Amazon and in due time, via a select number of retailers. As for those who are in the market for a 13” model, you will be able to place a pre-order on LandingZone.net, and it is tipped to ship sometime in the first quarter of 2014.

Expect these new models to be featured at Showstoppers at CES on January 7th, which is today, and the DOCK for MacBook Pro with Retina display will continue in the same LandingZone docking station design of the past which targeted the MacBook Air, all the while throwing into the mix another three USB 3.0 and a pair of USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, a headphone port, a MagSafe 2 holder, a native HDMI pass-through, and a Mini DisplayPort which can be used with Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 devices and monitors. Toshiba 5MP Dual Camera Module Begins To Ship

Toshiba 5MP Dual Camera Module Begins To Ship[CES 2014] Right before Christmas, we did come across news that Toshiba has already announced the introduction of a new 5MP dual camera module which is capable of delivering stereo 3D-like images. Well, slightly more than a couple of weeks later, here we are with word that Toshiba has made available sample quantities of the 5MP dual camera module, otherwise known as the TCM9518MD. The TCM9518MD happens to be the industry’s first dual camera module which is capable of simultaneously output recorded images and depth data for smartphones, tablets and mobile devices.

Just how is this made possible? Well, the TCM9518MD’s twin camera modules alongside a dedicated companion LSI chip will get the job done, as they simultaneously deliver deep focus images where foreground and background, alongside the rest of the points in between, happen to be in focus with depth data provided for each object in the picture. For those who are attending CES this week, you will be able to check out this interesting dual camera module right there in Las Vegas, Nevada. The TCM9518MD should be able to give rise to new applications for smartphone, tablets and mobile devices, considering how easy it is to incorporate into existing devices. [Press Release]

ZAGG Has New Keyboard For The Samsung GALAXY NotePRO and TabPRO

ZAGG Has New Keyboard For The Samsung GALAXY NotePRO and TabPRO[CES 2014] We have spent a fair amount of hands-on time with the Samsung GALAXY NotePRO as well as the GALAXY TabPRO on the CES showfloor this year, so it is also nice to hear that some peripherals for both devices have already been announced, and none other than ZAGG is up to the task this time around. ZAGG has just announced the Cover-Fit, which is a lightweight Bluetooth keyboard that will play nice with both Samsung devices.

The ZAGG Cover-Fit has been specially designed to work with the Samsung Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO, where it was developed alongside the folks over at Samsung as part of the Samsung Mobile Accessory Partnership Program (SMAPP). In this particular design, it complemented the form factor and lightweight construction of the new Samsung Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO. After all, it measures a mere 1.5cm in thickness, and tips the scales at just 255 grams, making the ZAGG Cover-Fit is one of the lightest keyboards on the market. The ZAGG Cover-Fit will launch at retailers and on ZAGG.com simultaneously alongside the Samsung Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO, which means we are looking at a February 2014 rollout. Any takers for this new Bluetooth enabled keyboard for your spanking new device?

    Eye-Fi Launches Eye-Fi Labs

Eye Fi Launches Eye Fi Labs[CES 2014] Eye-Fi has made a name for themselves when it comes to churning out wireless memory cards, and I would presume that they are checking out various avenues of income, by working on Eye-Fi Labs. Eye-Fi Labs happens to be an experimental platform for customers who want to preview and test new Eye-Fi technology. With Eye-Fi Labs, one will be able to host new mobile apps as well as beta product features as long as you use one of the compatible popular wireless memory cards prior to their availability to the masses.

Not only that, Eye-Fi will also make an announcement concerning a beta Mac desktop receiver software for its Mobi card, which will follow in the footsteps of its Windows desktop receiver rollout last month. The Eye-Fi Mobi card is now capable of transferring directly to both Mac and Windows desktops in an instant, opening up another brand new door for users when it comes to having additional options for photos and video transfer.

I guess this is sort of an interesting method to organize a trial run, and at least any issues can be fixed before it hits the mass market.  Eye-Fi’s product development teams will monitor and engage directly with Lab participants so that they can continue to refine products based on customers’ needs, desires and feedback. Those who are interested can register here.
