Samsung ATIV One 7 2014 Edition AIO Desktop System Announced

Samsung ATIV One 7 2014 Edition AIO Desktop System Announced[CES 2014] All-in-one (AIO) desktop systems are a great way to reduce clutter, although we suppose the drawback to such a system would how it might be harder to upgrade internally compared to a regular computer, but to each their own, right? For CES 2014, Samsung has announced the ATIV One 7 2014 Edition which is basically a sleek AIO desktop system that Samsung has decided to dress up in white/silver, making it look extremely eye-catching, although we’re not sure if the white might eventually fade and turn yellow-ish.

The ATIV One 7 will sport a 24” Full HD display which we have to admit reminds us of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series of tablets, and coincidentally enough this computer has been designed by Samsung to communicate with all of their Galaxy devices, such as smartphones and tablets, and presumably even Samsung’s series of Galaxy cameras as well. This is done through the use of Samsung Link and SideSync 2.0 which allows for interconnectivity between devices. In fact one of the more interesting features is that if your Galaxy device is off, if it is connected to the ATIV One 7, users will still be able to access its music.

As far as the rest of its specs are concerned, the ATV One 7 2014 Edition will be powered by an Intel 4th-gen Core i3/i5 processor running on Windows 8.1 It will come with a 1TB HDD/128G SSD and will spot a 720p HD front-facing camera used as a webcam. It will also sport the usual connectivity options and will come with 2x USB 3.0 ports, 2x USB 2.0 ports, and HDMI-in/out. Pricing and availability was not mention.

Polaroid’s Socialmatic Camera Is All About Sharing Your Shots

Polaroid's Socialmatic Camera Is All About Sharing Your Shots

We were cautiously optimistic when the concept for the real-life Instagram camera, the Socialmatic, popped up online last year. Now, despite a few concerns, Polaroid is officially making the design a reality. The company is partnering with Socialmatic, and when the camera is available this fall, it will allow photographers to either instantly share their shots on "major social media networks" or just run off a hard copy using the device’s built-in instant ZINK printer.

Intel’s RealSense Technology Allows For Better Interaction With Computers

Intels RealSense Technology Allows For Better Interaction With Computers[CES 2014] Ever wanted to control your computer using gestures, such as making swiping motions in the air to ALT-TAB between windows, browsing, exiting programs, and such? Well perhaps Intel will be the one to bring such technology to our computers in the future, thanks to the company recently announcing what they’re calling RealSense, which is basically a camera-like technology that will be able to detect gestures, facial recognition, facial features to better understand human movement and emotions, and even finger level movements as well.

Intel’s RealSense technology will also be able to better understand foregrounds and backgrounds, allowing for the creation of better augmented reality, as well as the ability to scan items in 3D. The good news is that Intel will be bringing their RealSense technology to future Intel-powered products, such as Ultrabooks, notebooks, and all-in-one desktop systems come the second-half of 2014. Intel has also announced that their partners, such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, and NEC will be on board with this new RealSense technology.

Some examples of the use of RealSense technology include better Skype calls, where the background of the caller can actually be removed, thus providing a more focused experience, and could also come in handy for those who work at home and want to look more professional. There will also be educational software for children that takes advantage of gestures to allow children to interact with it as well.

Exploring the Real Tech Story in Vegas: Zappos' Downtown Project

On the way in from the airport, my driver didn’t want to drop me at the downtown Las Vegas address that I had provided him. "Oh man, I dunno," he said. "It might not be very… nice." When I explained I was there to cover the revitalization of Las Vegas’s urban core he looked at me skeptically in the rearview mirror. "Are you sure?"
