Polaroid has announced that at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas it is going to showcase its new Q series tablets. The series is comprised of the Q7, Q8 and the Q10 tablets, with 7, 8 and 10 inch displays, respectively. All three tablets are Wi-Fi enabled and tout “super-fast” quadcore processors. They also run the latest Android firmware, Android 4.4 KitKat, out of the box. President and CEO of Polaroid Scott W. Hardy said that sleek design and affordable price point are what make the new Q series tablets a great choice.

Polaroid today announced a new lineup of superior quality televisions, both touting 50 inch screen sizes, one is a Roku Ready smart TV whereas the other is a 4K ultra high definition TV. Polaroid promises that these TVs will provide consumers with unparalleled picture quality as well as several state of the art new features, at an affordable price point as compared to other offerings in the market.
The 50 inch Roku Ready Smart TV, 50GSR7100, will let users stream over 1,000 channels through the Roku Stick. The wireless device, built into the TV itself, does not need any cables and is powered by MHL which allows easy plug and play use between the TV and the Roku Stick. It has three HDMI inputs and offers customers total control through the custom remote or the mobile application. The 50GSR9000 is Polaroid’s 50 inch 4K ultra high definition TV which aims to provide customers with a cinema style experience at a resolution that’s four times the resolution of a full HD TV. It too has three HDMI ports and the company promises that it will offer exceptional clarity, fluidity of motion and color contrast with more than 8 million pixels. The Smart TV will cost $599.99 while the UHD 4K TV will cost $999.99. Polaroid will showcase these TVs at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014 in Las Vegas.

[CES 2014] Forget about fossil fuels, solar energy is the way to go. [CES 2014] Bluetooth technology seems to work best when it comes to the minor stuff, such as wireless audio or wireless speakers, as well as a hands-free kit when it comes to carrying out a conversation on a smartphone or tablet. Other than that, there has not been any real groundbreaking leaps made to Bluetooth technology, which pretty much remains fine as it is – at least for the moment. Ahead of the highly anticipated Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, ZTE has announced the devices that it will formally unveil at the event. The company says that it has a “wide array” of high-tech devices up its sleeve, which include a new smartphone with ”intelligent voice control technology,” a mobile hotspot with a built-in projector, an “iconic phablet” and a smartwatch, among others. Smartphones that the company will unveil at CES 2014 include the Grand S II, its voice control technology is said to allow users to enable voice recognition unlocking and voice-to-phone photography. The ZTE nubia 5S and nubia 5S mini will also be displayed at the show.

[CES 2014] Samsung has officially unveiled its NX30 Smart Camera, its new high-end, non-Android Smart Camera. It is the successor of the NX300 that we played with in January of last year, before giving it a full review in October. The specifications of the Samsung NX30 look very good: APS-C sensor with 20.3 Megapixel, up to 25600 ISO and burst shooting of 9 frames per second.
The auto-focus (AF) system is what has attracted my attention: with 123 Phase-Detect sensors and 237 Contrast-based sensors integrated in the main image sensor, the AF system looks terrific on paper and should be able to nicely compete with mid-range DSLR cameras. It should also outperform a whole lot of mirror-less cameras that have less sophisticated AF systems. This is a big deal because the focus speed has always been a traditional weak point of mirror less systems. Now that phase detection is built into the main image sensor, this problem should in theory go away. We can’t wait to try this in the field.
