Griffin Technology has taken the step to introduce an upgrade to its PowerMate device, by throwing in wireless connectivity in the form of the Griffin PowerMate Bluetooth. This is stylish power tool for both the novice and pro computer user, where one might take a glance at it and wonder just what the heck does it do. I suppose you are able to describe it to be a clickable knob, as the PowerMate Bluetooth can be programmed for it to execute a wide range of key commands in virtually any application. Apart from that, users are able to streamline routine tasks including editing home movies like a pro, scroll through long (and hopefully not boring!) documents, or creating audio masterpieces.
The PowerMate Bluetooth will function beautifully as a convenient volume knob and mute button for Bluetooth 4.0 enabled Mac computers, but that would just be scratching the surface. PowerMate has been preset to play nice with iMovie and GarageBand right out of the box, which would make editing a painless and quick affair.
It will not remain within the confines of the multimedia department though, since users will also be able to follow the easy instructions in order to add custom commands within their preferred applications. You can opt to spin PowerMate like a wheel so that you can move through large multimedia files in a jiffy, in addition to spreadsheet and word processor documents, or opt to click it like a mouse to select text or perform commands.
The PowerMate Bluetooth has a gleaming brushed aluminum exterior, where it will sport a soothing blue glowing base. You will be able to take control of the behavior of this pulsing LED in order to know the current system status at a glance. Multiple PowerMates can be paired using Bluetooth connectivity, hence kissing goodbye to entangled wires and the ilk. Expect the PowerMate Bluetooth to arrive later this summer for $59.99 a pop.

Consumer electronics giant LG did reveal at the recently concluded CES 2014 a new kind of TV that will certainly blow your minds away – I am referring to the flexible OLED TV here, of course. LG claims that this is the first of its kind in the world, where the TV will not only arrive as a curved device, but you, the viewer, are able to control the angle of the curvature itself in order to enjoy the ultimate viewing experience where it would not have been thought of to be possible just a couple of decades ago.
Hyun-hwoi Ha President and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company, shared, “LG’s Flexible OLED TV is a product that has to be seen to be believed because it defies description. What curved is to flat, flexible is to curved. LG continues to lead the evolution of televisions into the next generation.”
Basically, with this flexible OLED TV, you will be able to use the included TV remote to alter the curvature of the display in order to suit your viewing experience. As for the range of the curvature itself, it is determined by taking into account key factors which will affect the viewing experience, where among them include screen size as well as viewing distance.
Not only that, you might think that this TV, being a prototype to begin with, is going to be small just for testing purposes. I thought so, and I was sorely mistaken, since this bad boy happens to be a 77″ flexible OLED TV, where it has been subjected to tens of thousands of hours of tests in order to ensure the reliability and durability of its unique display. Talk about a “grand slam” of firsts when it comes to the OLED TV universe – being flat, curved and now, flexible. Needless to say, pricing details and availability have yet to be divulged, but it sure as heck ain’t gonna come cheap!

Best of CES 2014 Ubergizmo Awards
Posted in: Today's ChiliLast week, we gave 10 Best of CES awards, and the physical trophies have already been delivered, but as a last look back on CES 2014, here’s the list for the record, and why we like those products or technologies. Here they are, in no particular order and see you next year for another crazy week in Las Vegas. Drop a comment to let us know what your favorite CES product was!
1/ Intel Edison
Intel wants to enter the wearable tech market and their Edison SD-Card sized computer may just get them there much faster. We have seen some pretty small computers in the past, some as small as a shirt button, but Intel’s is basically a PC shrunk into the size of a memory card. The choice for using the SD card format is astute because device makers can already have access to a wealth of options to build their hardware. While the card uses the SD Card physical format, it is not limited at all by the SD protocol, so developers are free to build any system they want. We can’t wait to see the first prototypes. (more…)

Intel’s much-vaunted wearables shown off at CES 2014 last week didn’t even necessarily use the company’s own processors, it has admitted, with at least one of the gadgets using low-power … Continue reading
A Pittsburgh-based tech company approached us on the CES 2014 show floor last week and asked for a bit of time to talk about their product, a small ball that can take panoramic video and is rugged enough to be strapped to a helmet or surf board. The product, called the 360fly, is still in beta but the company wanted to show it to us – complete with male surfer model – so we could get an idea of how the device worked.
The company’s previous products, the GoPano line, sold very well. The products connected to your iPhone and allowed you to take panoramic video anywhere using the iPhone’s own camera. This idea isn’t particularly new but I think the 360fly is a fascinating refinement of the product.
We’ll update you when these guys, Voxx, have more to show. Until then, enjoy seeing a poor man in board shorts and a t-shirt smile uncomfortably as I talk to the founder.
As the story goes, Las Vegas was built by Mormons and mobsters. This unlikely team worked together to bring gambling to a place almost exclusively populated by men constructing the Hoover Dam. Their work turned a tiny sun-baked town into a global phenomenon.
