5.5 Inch LG Gx Smartphone Rumored
Posted in: Today's ChiliKorean manufacturer LG’s latest devices have received great reviews, and despite rumors that it might shift its focus away from the smartphone business, the company continues to churn out great products. LG has already rubbished rumors of abandoning the smartphone market, its definitely out there to establish a greater footing. One of the first devices that LG might release next year could be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. According to a purported promotional document coming in from Korea, the company currently has a 5.5 inch smartphone under the wraps called LG GX.
It is expected to have a 5.5 inch full HD IPS display, 32GB onboard storage, a 13 megapixel camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 3,140mAh battery and even support for LTE-Advanced. Judging by these rumored specifications, the Gx might comfortably sit between the Optimus G and the recently released G2. That’s not the only smartphone that LG is expected to unveil soon. Rumor has it that a mini variant of the G2 is also being developed, perhaps we might get to see it at CES 2014 as well. For now LG hasn’t said what it plans to show at the biggest consumer electronics show, so a grain of salt is definitely advised.

When it comes to gaming PCs, Digital Storm is a company that has released some pretty impressive (and beautiful looking) products in the past. Now it looks like they are back again and this time instead of announcing a new PC meant for gamers, they have announced their own Valve approved Steam Machine. At the moment the exact specifications of Digital Storm’s take on the Steam Machine remains somewhat a mystery, although what we do know is that it will come with a liquid cooling system, advanced thermal management, and will come with NVIDIA’s GeForce GTA Titan graphics card as an option. It will also be able to dual-boot both Windows and SteamOS, allowing gamers to swap between platforms as needed.
We reckon this is a pretty smart move as gamers who want a bit of productivity will be able to switch between operating systems when the need arises. It will measure 4.4-inches wide, 14.1-inches deep, and 16.4-inches tall, making it a tad larger than the Xbox One, but still compact enough where it will not take up too much room, unlike the company’s previous PC offerings with towering PC cases. Unfortunately in terms of pricing, the Digital Storm Steam Machine will be priced starting at $1,469, meaning that compared to iBuypower’s Steam Machine offering of $499, this will not be as accessible. In any case check back with us during CES 2014 where we will have more information available for you.

Transparent display specialist and military head-up screen supplier Lumus is wading into the wearable computing market, revealing a new developer kit that, unlike Google’s Glass, offers full augmented reality support. According to the rumors, Q1 of 2014 looks to be a pretty busy time of the year for Samsung. So far we have learnt that the South Korean tech giant will be planning on announcing the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Grand Lite, and the Galaxy Note 3 Lite in the early part of the year, but now according to South Korean publication, ETNews, Samsung will have 5 devices to debut at the start of the year. Three of the devices have already been mentioned, and with the remaining two said to be entry-mid-level devices. Unfortunately apart from the rumors and alleged leaked specifications of the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Grand Lite, and Galaxy Note 3 Lite, not much else is known about the remaining two handsets.
If there is an opportunity for Samsung to announce these devices, chances are we could be looking at CES 2014 or MWC 2014. However Samsung has typically preferred to announce its flagship devices at their own events, so chances are that CES and MWC are probably our best bet to learn about the other devices. Obviously since nothing has been confirmed yet, do take it with a grain of salt for now, but if they are true, exciting times are just around the corner.
