We recently had the opportunity to tour Klipsch‘s headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, and while we’re currently working up a walk-through showing off gobs of behind the scenes footage from the design lab and quality assurance facilities, we gathered two particularly juicy tidbits that simply couldn’t wait. The outfit informed us that since the Image S4i earbuds have been such a success, it will soon be adding its three-button iPhone microphone / remote to the top-of-the-line Image X10, and as you may expect, the resulting product will go by the name Image X10i. They’ll officially debut in the same gold and black motif at CES, and they should ship to consumers in early 2010 for $349 (while the original X10 falls to $299). The other discovery was that the hot-selling S4i earbuds (which we tested out a few months ago) will soon be shipping in a fresh color scheme (black and white, as seen above) and with the same metal tin that the S4 currently ships with. This is actually the first third-party headphone set with an integrated Made for iPhone remote / microphone that Cupertino has agreed to sell in white, and we can safely say that this two-tone look will probably have the Apple zealots drooling. Everything else about the $99 set remains the same as the standard S4i (including the cable material, electronics and price), and while we couldn’t confirm, we’d say that chances are high for future color options to sneak out in the S4 / S4i range. Is 2010 the year of the tablet? All sources–leaked or otherwise–seem to point to “yes.” There are plenty of rumors surfacing around such device emerging from known quantities like Apple and Microsoft, but the real news is coming from dark horse such as Fusion Garage, which has been touring around the country showing its JooJoo pad to anyone who will take notice.

The JooJoo tablet (formerly known as the CrunchPad) may have some stiff competition this coming month, however. A company called Notion Ink is reportedly launching a still-unnamed tablet “smartpad.” It’s a snazzy-looking piece of hardware running an NVidia Tegra T20 chipset. The tablet features 1080p HD video, built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a Pixel Qi display.

The Notion Ink tablet will run Android and feature full gesture support. It weighs 1.7 pounds and comes with either 16GB or 32GB of storage built in, plus an SD slot, so you won’t have to rely solely on cloud-based computing, as with the JooJoo.

The device is set to debut at CES in Las Vegas next month.

For an upstart mobile chipset, Tegra seemed off to a decent start in 2009, but with a minimum of actual hardware actually on shelves for the holidays, we’re supposed to look to 2010 now for Tegra’s big break — according to NVIDIA, anyway. NVIDIA plans to unveil its next-gen Tegra 2 chipset at CES in January, which is rumored to be around twice as powerful as the original, and we’re supposed to be seeing a bunch of “interesting form factors” along side (like that Tegra tablet pictured above, for instance). We’re told to expect tablet PCs, smartbooks, netbooks and MIDs running Tegra in the first half of next year, but the real traction is supposed to take place with the first smartphone entries in the second half of 2010. It sounds like a long time to wait.

We weren’t waiting on too many more details surrounding Seagate’s 7mm thin laptop hard drive, but one critical tidbit has just now been unearthed by the outfit itself. The Momentus Thin will make its official unveiling at CES here in just a few weeks, where it’ll be available in 160GB and 250GB capacities and with 8MB of cache, a 5400RPM spin speed and a SATA 3Gbps interface. We’re also told that it’ll be far less expensive than similarly sized 1.8-inch HDD options, which means this bugger could soon be planted into Atom D410 / D510-based netbooks. The drive is slated to ship to OEM and integrator partners next month, though specific price points have yet to be mentioned. Have a peek at the first press shots below.

Not so keen on coughing up a month’s worth of WoW coinage in order to pay for FLO TV services? If so, and you can somehow keep yourself surrounded by WiFi waves at all times, Sungale just might have a cheaper alternative. The outfit has just revealed what it says is its “first IPTV,” though frankly it sounds more like a WiFi-enabled PMP with a knack for finding web programming. The 4.3-inch Kula is described as an “ultra-portable WiFi-enabled IPTV that allows users to access a large number of live streaming television programs from all over the world, selectable by country, language and topic like News, Sports and Finance all without the high rates.” Aside from using WiFi, there’s no mention of any other protocol to tap into various channel “packages,” though we’re not completely shutting out that possibility until we see this bugger at CES. Other specs include 2GB of internal memory, an SD / MMC expansion slot and support for a slew of file formats. Hop on past the break for the full release, which naturally omits any semblance of a price tag in keeping with the elusive theme.
