Newman ManMan A1 is way too manly for us

Seriously, you just can’t find a PMP that’s any manlier than this. For starters, the phrase “man” is used three times in the product name (Newman ManMan A1), and secondly, it’s fluorescent pink in color. Clearly, Newman is aiming at those with a soft spot in their hearts for the previous generation iPod nano, and the SmartTouch UI even gives users that CoverFlow feel without all the paperwork involved in buying a legitimate device. On the plus side, this thing can handle the more exotic audio formats like OGG and FLAC, and those repulsed by the pink can opt for a blue version when it hits Chinese street vendors later this month.

Lenovo’s Android-powered OPhone to hit China Mobile this quarter

Look out, China — Lenovo’s all-too-sexy OPhone is about to land in the hands of unsuspecting China Mobile subscribers, or so says Reuters, anyway. The planet’s largest mobile carrier will reportedly launch the 3G handset sometime this quarter, though some reports are suggesting that development is being hampered as engineers struggle with creating a Chinese language version of the OS. Once launched, it will go down as the first Android-powered handset to operate on China’s home-cooked TD-SCDMA 3G network, but there’s no word on just how costly it’ll be. Not like cost is really a concern here, right?

Keepin’ it real fake, part CLXXVI: iPhone Air jockeys for “best ripoff ever” award

For those with a whiteboard full of Apple rumors, you’ll been keenly aware of the fact that the whole iPhone Air terminology has been tossed around before in a joking manner. This, however, is not a joke. In fact, it’s a very real KIRF, and it’s possibly one of the most awesome we’ve ever seen. We mean, who’d ever want an iPhone nano when one could have — wait for it — the iPhone Air. Aside from clean, beautiful, streamlined edges, those fortunate enough to procure one from China will also find dual SIM card slots, an FM radio, Bluetooth, a multimedia player and a built-in camera. The KIRF game just got stepped up good fashion, and we love it.

Chinavasion’s plug-in MP3 player / FM transmitter / etcetera seems surprisingly useful

Chinavasion‘s latest piece of steaming trash is actually very un-trash-like, as it thoughtfully meshes a number of in-car technologies into one single cigarette adapter doodad. The Plug-In Car MP4 Player with LCD Display manages to bundle an MP4 / MP3 player, 1.5-inch LCD and 4GB of memory into a device that plugs neatly into your car’s cigarette adapter, and the inclusion of an FM transmitter means that you won’t even need to bring your own DAP to get tunes flowing in the car. Moreover, the SD card slot enables even more jams to be loaded on if you’re embarking on a serious road trip, and the USB socket makes PC-to-whatchamacallit transfers a cinch. We’re truly impressed with just how awe-inspiring this thing is for €21.57 ($29); too bad we don’t trust the quality one bit.

Nokia’s 6208c now official, officially in love with stylus input

Nokia’s 6208c (or 6208 classic, if you prefer) isn’t arriving as a surprise, though it is quite nice to see it being made completely official. The rather unique handset was designed with the Chinese market in mind, as it boasts an integrated, removable stylus modeled after bamboo slips for inputting Chinese characters via pen. You’ll also notice a stainless steel back cover, 3.2-megapixel camera (with twin LED flash), a 4x digital zoom and a microSD slot for expanding storage. Mum’s the word on pricing, but it should be loosed in “select markets” during the first half of 2009.

Fakemodo: Undeniable Evidence of iPhone Nano 3G ZOMG!

Here you have it. Un-de-ni-a-ble proof that the iPhone nano 3G exists. Boom. Because, if there’s a knock-off, there must be a real one out there, right? Somewhere! Anywhere? Come on! Think about it, people!

Yesterday, a reader jumped on the tips line saying:

OMG! I FOUND THE NEW IPHONE NANO! CHECK IT OUT MAN! THIS IS THE REAL THING! I BOUGHT THE ORIGINAL IPHONE 3G FROM THEM! AND THAT WAS REAL! THIS HAS TO BE REAL! CAN’T YOU SEE IT?!?!?! OMG! ASDADGAFAAEFGASDGADFASDHHHHH!!!

I tried to put some sense into him: “Dude, do you think a chinese supplier would have an Apple phone before Apple themselves?” But he wouldn’t have it: “COME ON! I KNOW IT’S REAL! IT HAS TO BE REAL! I BOUGHT THREE OF THEM FOR MY FRIENDS FROM MY HIGH SCHOOL IN TEXAS!!!” After a while, I was polite and said good night. It was Christmas Day after all.

It’s not anymore. [China suppliers—Thanks JC—not Jason Chen—and good luck with those amazing iPhone nano 3G with optional Java games and 64 polymorphic tones!]
