Solar Light Clock Concept Tells the Time by Showing Daylight: Protoclock

Before the invention of timepieces, our ancestors aligned their schedules with the rising and setting of the Sun. Mammoth hunting when the Sun goes up, then chill at Hairy Guy 34′s cave when the Sun goes down. Designer Jon Liow’s concept clock will let you partake in this ancient tradition of guesstimating with the Solar Light.

The Solar Light isn’t solar-powered. It gets its name from its function, which is to mimic the amount of sunlight in a particular timezone. By default, if it’s noon in your chosen timezone, the Solar Light will shine brightly, while its LEDs will probably be completely off at midnight. You’ll be able to select a timezone from a mobile app. You can also invert the light’s function (it’ll be brighter at night, darker during the day) and even turn it to a normal lamp from the app.

I think I’d love to have a Solar Light. It’s a nice way to imagine what your loved ones are doing if they’re abroad. It would be more useful though if it could also show you what the weather is like in that area.

Princess Leia and Han Solo Declare Their Timeless Love with Clocks

When Han and Leia are forced to be away from each other, at least they will know that each of them truly loves the other thanks to this pair of clocks proclaiming that love. Han hangs his in the Millenium Falcon, while Leia hangs hers in whatever diplomatic offices she happens to reside in.

That pair is so cute. After all of these years, they are still saying that classic line to each other – despite one of them being a scoundrel and a scruffy little nerf herder. Only now they use clocks. If you and your mate are like Leia and Han, but forced to be apart, you will want these clocks as a constant reminder.

This pair of clocks comes from Etsy seller Objectindustrialart and will cost you $25.50(USD). Not bad for two clocks that remind you of your special other.

Serenity Wake To Light Clock wakes you up with soothing sounds

serenity-wakeThere is the usual alarm clock, and then for many of us, we use a smartphone’s alarm app to make sure that we are able to jump out of bed in order to meet a brand new day head on. Of course, those two are not the only alarm clocks available to the masses, as there are different kinds which will nudge you awake gently. Case in point, the $99.99 Serenity Wake To Light Clock. Sure, it might sound like a whole lot to pay for at first, but when you take into consideration that it will rely on a harmonious blend of light and sound therapy so that your body will naturally align itself to its circadian rhythms, letting you fall asleep naturally, get a far more sound rest, and to wake up in a refreshed and rejuvenated manner.

Some other features of the Serenity Wake To Light Clock include the all important snooze button, an integrated FM radio, a chime alarm as well as five preset soundscapes to get you started – birds, ocean, stream, ocean with music and stream with music. You can choose from 15 lamp brightness levels, and the entire shebang is a cinch to program. While at home, you can leave the Serenity Wake To Light Clock plugged into an AC outlet, but if you need to bring it with you on the road, then a trio of AAA batteries will do the trick.

The Ring Clock Helps You Keep The Sands Of Time In Your Hands

For years now, people have worn rings on their fingers as well as watches on their hands. Rings would be used in order to indicate someone’s marital status as well as being used for fashion, while watches are used to tell time in addition to their use in fashion. Now, you won’t need to wear one or the other as the Ring Clock combines both a ring and a watch in one ultimate accessory.

The Ring Clock uses a total of 144 ultra-thin LEDs that can display the current time when you twist it along your finger, all within a surgical-grade, allergy-free stainless steel ring that is water resistant. You’ll have a choice of being able to tell time through your ring in either blue or orange LEDs. Charging the Ring Clock is as easy as setting it down as it’ll recharge through wireless induction, although a full charge is said to allow the ring to function for a week without needing to be recharged.

The Ring Clock is currently seeking funding through their Indiegogo campaign where a pledge of $185 will get you your very own Ring Clock, which is said to be a rather large discount considering the retail price of the ring will be $250 when it’s complete.

The Ring Clock is a Watch for Your Finger

Pledge to this campaign on Indiegogo if you want to wear a watch on your fingers. It’s called the Ring Clock, and uses 144 ultra-thin mono-color LEDs to display the time when you twist it. It’s a ring. It’s a watch. And, thankfully it doesn’t look like these.

Charging the Ring Clock is wireless, through induction. You just put it on a Qi charging plate. The battery is good for one week of operation on a charge. It’s made from surgical stainless steel and also has a water-resistant exterior.

Right now they’re still working on their prototype. It isn’t finished yet. So you should be aware that this isn’t a sure thing. They may be able to pull it off. Then again, maybe not. In order to put the Ring Clock into production, the company is looking for $287,400 in crowdsourced funding. As of this writing it has raised over $50,000 toward that goal, and still has about 43 days to go.

It takes a minimum $185(USD) pledge if you want one. I hope they get the rest of their funding and manage to complete the project.

Alien Facehugger Wall Clock: Time to Die

When you have the Alien Facehugger clock on your wall, your days are numbered. When you have a clock like this it doesn’t really matter what time it is. The important thing is that you get the hell out of there and avoid getting facehugged by it.

This awesome sculptural clock was created by Rockstar Games artist Chris ‘Eddie Escher’ Edwards. He used polymer clay, wire and plastic to make it. It’s hand-painted and lacquered, and the clock has a quartz movement and glow in the dark hands. Oh, and it looks like it could crawl off of the face of clock easily and hunt you down.

If you happen to live in the UK, you can check it out in person at the Rapture Gallery at 2 Westmoreland Street in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. You can buy it for about $310(USD), assuming you can live with this thing on your wall.

Scientists create most accurate clock in the world

Scientists at the National Institute of Standards and Technology have created what they say is the most accurate clock anywhere in the world, able to keep its ticking rate to a variation of less than two parts per every quintillion. This number, not only too infinitesimal for the average mind to comprehend, is also 10 […]

Papercraft Analog Digital Clock: Time is Recyclable

Several years ago we saw Alvin Aronson’s minimalist timepiece, which used wood and ceramic to replicate the seven segment digits commonly used in LCD and LED displays.

Instructables member alstroemeria took the idea further, creating a papercraft version of Aronson’s clock.

Alstroemeria used layers of cardstock, an Arduino Uno, 28 servos and a servo controller to make a cheaper and biodegradable version of Aronson’s clock.

    LEGO Joker Minifigure Clock

joker-clockOne of the most devious enemies in the DC Comics universe, or even in the history of comics, would be the Joker. A simple premise, really, an ordinary person who has gone insane, and loves death and destruction for the sake of it without any reason, only to be stopped by the Batman time and again, is someone whom we can identify with. After all, you can never quite tell just when you are going to snap, are you? Hence, instead of living without any direction in life, you might want to have a constant reminder each morning for you to maintain your sanity, and you can do so with the $29.99 LEGO Joker Minifigure Clock.

Being an officially licensed DC Comics collectible, the $29.99 LEGO Joker Minifigure Clock will come in the classic Joker look, although this time around, he will not pull any kind of deadly pranks on you, but rather, there is a large and friendly digital clock which is located right in the minifig’s stomach so that you can not only keep to the time each morning, but also acts as an alarm for other moments in your live. The arms and legs can be posed, allowing the minifig to sit or stand, all 8” of it.
