It was on the 6th of August that we brought to you word on Yahoo working on a corporate logo revamp, where they will go through 30 days of different concepts before settling on the final version. Well, time certainly passes by quickly – all too fast for some, and here we are a month later with word that there is a new Yahoo logo which will reflect the company’s new look.

In fact, since last night onwards, the new Yahoo logo will start to appear across Yahoo properties on a global scale. This logo has been described by Yahoo to help them stay “true to our roots (whimsical, purple, with an exclamation point)” and yet will embrace “the evolution of our products.” What do you think of the new Yahoo logo – is it a hit or a miss in your books? In the meantime, you can always check out the video above to know about the craft behind the logo. How often do you think that companies ought to change their logo, and is it really necessary to do so if you are going great guns? One thing is for sure, we would be more than interested to check out whether Apple would change their logo, and if so, what will it look like? Kim Dotcom Resigns From Mega To Concentrate On Other Causes

Kim Dotcom Resigns From Mega To Concentrate On Other CausesKim Dotcom recently threw in his resignation as managing director of his cloud hosting company Mega, and the reason to do so was to fight the good fight (in the eyes of some) – namely, to concentrate on the battle against extradition to the United States, in addition to launching a music service as well as a new political party. Earlier this year, Dotcom launched Mega (on 20th January 2013 to be exact), which marked the exact date a year after his previous business venture, Megaupload, was raided in a US-led operation, which subsequently led to accusations of Megaupload being involved in copyright infringement and money laundering.

Since Dotcom stepped down as managing director of Mega on 29 August, he has been replaced by the Singapore-based Bonnie Lam. According to Vikram Kumar, the chief executive of Mega, he informed The New Zealand Herald that Dotcom resigned to “focus on the extradition case, an upcoming music website, and to build a political party”. It seems that the music website would be similar in nature to iTunes, save for the fact that it functions over a web browser using HTML5, and Megabox will work directly with artists, skipping the traditional “middleman” of record labels. All the best to you in tour endeavors, Kim!

    Bing Video Search Updated

Bing Video Search UpdatedMicrosoft’s Bing department has just announced that they will be rolling out a completely re-imagined search experience for video on Bing. Specially designed from the ground up, the video search experience will boast of streamlined navigation that showcases larger and higher resolution previews in order for you to browse, discover and view videos on the web in a faster manner.

With Bing, they hope that you are able to discover great videos from YouTube, Hulu and Vimeo, in addition to other content from the likes of Dailymotion, Vevo, MTV, CBS, and MSN among others. There is a Pop-out Hover Preview which allows you to check out the video there and then instead of heading to the site itself. Improved filters will also take into account common video sizes such as 720 and 1080, where the source filters will end up being more specific to the segment that you are searching for. Alternatively, you can opt to sort by date so that you know you would end up with the most relevant results.
