    SimCity For Mac Released

    SimCity For Mac Released

SimCity for Mac was initially going to be released on June 11th, but EA announced that they were delaying the release as the game wasn’t ready for primetime. It said that the launch would take place in August. Earlier this month EA finally announced the confirmed release date of SimCity for Mac, August 29th. The game has indeed been released today and is now available from the Origin store. If you’ve already purchased a boxed or digital copy of SimCity for PC, you won’t have to purchase the game again for Mac.

It appears though that the release isn’t going smooth. Simply searching for the SimCity hashtag on Twitter reveals frustrations, people claim they’re having trouble purchasing it, some say that they can’t play in fullscreen mode. Some of them have even taken to EA forums to complain about the various issues that they’re facing. On the other hand, there are players who claim on Twitter that they’ve not encountered any issues with SimCity for Mac. Have you tried to purchase a new copy of this game and faced any issues? Are you able to play SimCity for Mac in fullscreen mode? Do let us know by dropping a comment below.

SFO Free Airport Wi-Fi Gets A Speed Boost

SFO Free Airport Wi Fi Gets A Speed BoostAre you one who loves or loathes airports? The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has a certain charm about it, and this time around, it intends to make life easier and more convenient for the millions of travelers who go through its terminals every single year by completing the comprehensive upgrade of the airport’s free Wi-Fi network. In fact, hooking up to the Internet at SFO is so easy now, all you need to do is accept the terms and conditions (who reads those, anyways?) with a single click, and you are good to go. Not only that, SFO’s Wi-Fi network will deliver ad-free connectivity so that you can get more productive and keep in touch without having any pesky windows pop up to distract you.

Apart from that, the new Wi-Fi network will also boast of faster speeds in comparison to the previous network system, not to mention allowing you a far longer connect session of up to 2 hours instead of its predecessor. You can also move between terminals seamlessly without requiring to reconnect at a different terminal, and just in case you run into issues, there is a support number on the splash page to help you out of a tight spot. There will be further upgrades down the road to deliver additional increases in network capacity as well as the addition of wireless access points throughout the airport.

Skype Looks Into 3D Calling System

Skype Looks Into 3D Calling SystemIt does seem as though the world is moving towards a 3D environment where computers and consoles are concerned, but some like the recently announced Nintendo 2DS is taking a step back by doing away with 3D support. Skype, however, looks in the opposite direction by working on a possible 3D calling system, according to Mark Gillett, Microsoft’s corporate vice president for Skype.

This particular announcement from Mr. Gillett has arrived right before Skype celebrates its 10th anniversary today, and it could be a “gimmick” according to some, where they see this move as an attempt to ensure that consumers remain interested in their service, especially when consumers these days have a plethora of choices to pick from other than Skype to make highly affordable calls abroad. Mr. Gillett did warn that the technology to support 3D calling exists at the moment, but it will still require years before consumers can place 3D calls at their whim and fancy.

I would say that this has placed Skype in a very unique position – even if they do not manage to implement it successfully, it does not mean that they will falter down the road as a company on the whole. And if they happen to make 3D calls happen, then it could be huge as they pioneer yet another way to keep in touch with your loved ones across long distances.

    NY Times Site Hacked

NY Times Site HackedYesterday, we brought you word that Twitter’s domain registration was taken over by the Syrian Electronic Army, and here we are with word that the next alleged victim of the Syrian Electronic Army would be The New York Times – as those who clicked on The New York Times’ website ended up with nothing but error messages throughout Tuesday, making this the site’s second major disruption in the month of August alone.

Within a few minutes of the attack, the New York Times had set in place alternative websites, and also posted up stories concerning the chemical attacks that have appalled the world, which happened in Syria recently. One of the headlines read, “Not Easy to Hide a Chemical Attack, Experts Say.” According to one of the posts by The New York Times, they mentioned, “Our Web site was unavailable to users in the United States for a time on Tuesday. The disruption was the result of an external attack on our domain name registrar, and we are at work on fully restoring service. We regret if this has caused you any inconvenience.”

The Syrian Electronic Army did send out a warning over Twitter before the affected sites were attacked, which read ominously, “Media is going down …”
