Xbox Reading App For Windows 8 Being Developed

Microsoft has already released a couple of Xbox branded apps for Windows 8, look no further than Xbox Video and Xbox Music. It appears that the company now has its sights set on books, as a job posting has been discovered which hints at the possibility of an Xbox Reading app for Windows 8 being under development. Selected candidate for this new job would join the Music, Video and Reading (MVR) team that’s behind the two Xbox branded apps, and he or she will be tasked with creating a “groundbreaking interactive reading app on Windows, which incorporates books, magazines and comics.”

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Lite Jumps Aboard The Haswell Bandwagon

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Lite Jumps Aboard The Haswell BandwagonIt goes without saying that a particular piece of technology that does not get a hardware refresh would be lagging behind in terms of its popularity and usability. Hence, here we are with Samsung offering the ATIV Book 9 Lite with some more processing power, thanks to the introduction of a speedier Intel Core i3-4020Y Haswell processor underneath the hood. Of course, considering from all angles that this new laptop still carries the “Lite” suffix at the end of it, you can expect the lack of some of premium touches which are more or less staples in higher end Ultrabooks.

HP: Firmware Updates Only For Customers Under Warranty After February 19

HP: Firmware Updates Only For Customers Under Warranty After February 19Now this is certainly a surprising move to just about anyone who hears about this – apparently, computing giant HP has announced that they will be offering firmware updates only to their customers who happen to be still under warranty, and this new policy is all set to kick off after February 19th. In a press release by Vice President Mary McCoy, she mentioned, “This decision reinforces our goal to provide access to the latest HP firmware, which is valuable intellectual property, for our customers who have chosen to maximize and protect their IT investments. We know this is a change from how we’ve done business in the past; however, this aligns with industry best practices and is the right decision for our customers and partners. Our customers under warranty or support coverage will not need to pay for firmware access, and we are in no way trying to force customers into purchasing extended coverage. That is, and always will be, a customer’s choice”

Upgrade Windows XP To Windows 8, Microsoft Urges Holdouts

Windows XP has had a great run, it was undeniably one of the most popular Windows iteration that Microsoft has ever created. Its severely outdated now, succeeded by the likes of Windows 7 and Windows 8. On April 18th, Microsoft is finally going to cut the cord, it will no longer provide support for the OS. This means no security patches, no updates and certainly no bug fixes. The company has been urging holdouts for quite some time to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 8, and it makes yet another attempt by tapping its senior marketing communications manager, Brandon LeBlanc, to write a blog post on how to help your family and friends do just that within the next 60 days.
