Buffalo MiniStation Air: More Than A Portable Drive

Buffalo MiniStation Air: More Than A Portable Drive[CES 2014] Smartphone and tablets have changed the way we carry content. People no longer need to carry around discs full of content, they can simply load up their mobile devices. However, these devices offer a limited amount of storage which often isn’t enough. In that case, portable wireless HDDs come in handy. The new Buffalo MiniStation Air is a bonafide wireless HDD, but it does much more than allowing up to eight devices to access 1TB of storage and stream content to any computer, smart TV or mobile device.

LandingZone Docking Station Plays Nice With MacBook Pro With Retina Display

LandingZone Docking Station Plays Nice With MacBook Pro With Retina Display[CES 2014] LandingZone knows that there is money to be made when it comes to accessories for hugely successful devices and computers, and you cannot get any more successful than with an Apple product, at least when we are talking about Apple products from the iPod onwards, as the years before that were actually rather lean. Having said that, LandingZone’s latest Docking Station is worth checking out if you happen to own a MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The 15” model is already available over at LandingZone.net, Amazon and in due time, via a select number of retailers. As for those who are in the market for a 13” model, you will be able to place a pre-order on LandingZone.net, and it is tipped to ship sometime in the first quarter of 2014.

Expect these new models to be featured at Showstoppers at CES on January 7th, which is today, and the DOCK for MacBook Pro with Retina display will continue in the same LandingZone docking station design of the past which targeted the MacBook Air, all the while throwing into the mix another three USB 3.0 and a pair of USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, a headphone port, a MagSafe 2 holder, a native HDMI pass-through, and a Mini DisplayPort which can be used with Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 devices and monitors. IOGear KeyShair Delivers Seamless Device Switching

IOGear KeyShair Delivers Seamless Device Switching[CES 2014] Just as how the entire consumer electronics ecosystem seem to “speak” to one another these days with seamless ease, so too, will hardware manufacturers think of new ways to make sure that one device can connect to another with the least amount of hassle. Samsung ATIV One 7 2014 Edition AIO Desktop System Announced

Samsung ATIV One 7 2014 Edition AIO Desktop System Announced[CES 2014] All-in-one (AIO) desktop systems are a great way to reduce clutter, although we suppose the drawback to such a system would how it might be harder to upgrade internally compared to a regular computer, but to each their own, right? For CES 2014, Samsung has announced the ATIV One 7 2014 Edition which is basically a sleek AIO desktop system that Samsung has decided to dress up in white/silver, making it look extremely eye-catching, although we’re not sure if the white might eventually fade and turn yellow-ish.

The ATIV One 7 will sport a 24” Full HD display which we have to admit reminds us of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series of tablets, and coincidentally enough this computer has been designed by Samsung to communicate with all of their Galaxy devices, such as smartphones and tablets, and presumably even Samsung’s series of Galaxy cameras as well. This is done through the use of Samsung Link and SideSync 2.0 which allows for interconnectivity between devices. In fact one of the more interesting features is that if your Galaxy device is off, if it is connected to the ATIV One 7, users will still be able to access its music.

As far as the rest of its specs are concerned, the ATV One 7 2014 Edition will be powered by an Intel 4th-gen Core i3/i5 processor running on Windows 8.1 It will come with a 1TB HDD/128G SSD and will spot a 720p HD front-facing camera used as a webcam. It will also sport the usual connectivity options and will come with 2x USB 3.0 ports, 2x USB 2.0 ports, and HDMI-in/out. Pricing and availability was not mention.

Samsung ATIV Book 9 15.6 inch 2014: 14Hrs Of Battery

[CES 2014] Samsung is refreshing its ultrathin 15.6” ATIV Book 9 laptop (formerly called Series 9) with an update that will take the battery life to new levels: Samsung claims that the 15.6” ATIV Book 9 can stay up for 14 hours straight while running the standard Mobile Mark 7 battery benchmark. That’s a 40% increase of battery life over the previous model, which is quite impressive.

Xidax Is The First Computer Systems Builder To Accept Bitcoin Payment

Xidax Is The First Computer Systems Builder To Accept Bitcoin PaymentIs Bitcoin the way of the future? That’s hard to say. While the virtual currency is without a doubt extremely popular (over $900 at this time of writing), the fact that governments have yet to accept it as a legitimate form of currency has many wondering about the future of Bitcoin and whether it will eventually fade into obscurity. However this has not stopped other companies from embracing the virtual currency, as we have found out yesterday when game developer, Zynga, announced that they would begin testing Bitcoin as a method of payment, and now it looks like they will not be alone as Xidax has announced their support of Bitcoin as well.

For those unfamiliar, Xidax is a company that specializes in building custom gaming rigs, and one of the main differences between Xidax and the competition is that they provide a lifetime guarantee on parts and labor, unlike other companies who might only provide anywhere between 1-3 years. According to Zack Shutt, the executive operations officer of Xidax PCs, “The question reached me, I thought it was a brilliant idea, and we all got very excited about being the first in the industry to embrace this cool new way to pay.” Shutt claims that the reason behind the company’s acceptance of the Bitcoin currency is because of several customers asking them about it.

Will this work out in Xidax’s favor? Well there’s no telling how much the value of Bitcoin will skyrocket in the future, or how much it will drop. Assuming Bitcoin is on the rise, Xidax will definitely be raking in a fortune, or if it drops, well that’s just Xidax’s loss and is pretty much the nature of the Bitcoin currency. What do you guys make of retailers starting to accept Bitcoin as a method of payment? Investment for the future or a bad idea?
