Hidden iPhone Quick Draw Holder: Assassin’s Creed Japan

YouTuber morishowta is working on a wrist-mounted holder for his iPhone that quickly pushes the phone to his hand when he thrusts his arm forward. It’s like the hidden blade in Assassin’s Creed, or Travis Bickle’s gun in Taxi Driver, except it hides a smartphone.

But the gadget is just a small part of Mori’s video. His hilarious trial and error process and his other antics make his video even more worthwhile:

Here’s his follow-up to that video. It includes a newer model of his iPhone holder. He also tries to make one for his tablet. Guess how that works out.

Moshi moshi. I need to learn Japanese so I can appreciate Mori’s videos more.

iPotty for iPad: iPeed and Then iPooped

I have a son and a daughter and I can say easily that my son was harder to potty train than my daughter. My son would runaround and pee on anything and everything from the dog, the door, the neighbor (true story), to our houseplants. But, he refused to pee in the toilet. We tried everything from putting Cheerios in the bowl to screaming and cursing and right before we were ready to change his name to R. Kelly, he finally started using the toilet.

Considering how kids love tablets, had the iPad been around eight or nine years ago, I would have absolutely purchased the iPotty.

ipotty1

It’s a little toddler toilet that has a holder allowing you to put your iPad on the front of the toilet. The idea is that fun iPad apps will lure your little one to sit on the throne and play while they tinkle or drop a stinky load.

CTA Digital says the iPotty toilet will be available in March via Amazon.com for a mere $39.99 (USD) – tablet not included, of course. Parents of little boys should be warned that they can and will pee EVERYWHERE (seriously, I mean everywhere.) They say the holder is splashproof, but you’ll want to check it out before you buy one, as your AppleCare warranty definitely doesn’t cover urine damage.

Domo Meets DC Comics to Create Greatest Vinyl Toys Ever

How can you not like Domo-Kun? He’s the cutest little monster we know. And now, he’s been reincarnated in a variety of superhero and supervillain egos thanks to the guys at Funko.

domokun dc funko

This series of 2.5″ tall Domo/DC Comics figures are quite possibly the best vinyl desk toys I’ve ever seen, and I must have them all. They were recently revealed by Funko, and will be hitting shops at the end of February. The series includes multiple versions of Batman, a couple of Robins, Clark Kent and Superman, as well as The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Shazam. On the evil side of the Justice League, you’ll get the Riddler and Two-Face.

Since these are part of a Funko Mystery Minis series, they’re each individually blind-boxed, with certain toys being more rare and collectible than others. Here’s the rarity scale in case you were wondering:

You can preorder them now over at Entertainment Earth in either 4 packs, or a complete display case. There’s also a line of larger POP! Heroes coming out at the same time, but I don’t think they’re as cute.

Angry Birds Transformers: Rovio in Disguise

There’s literally tons of Angry Birds merch on the market, and most of it is pretty craptastic. But these Angry Birds characters that open up like Transformers are brilliant.

While I’m thinking that they’re neither official Angry Birds nor Transformers merchandise, that doesn’t make them any less awesome. They were spotted by “The Hong Kong Toy Man” Victor Wong, and they’re just perfect. Now somebody just needs to buy me some for my desk.

Quirky Kepler Space Kit Lets Anyone Be a Space Photographer

Cameras being sent to the edge of space are nothing new, but it requires a bit of tinkering skills to set up the balloon and camera mount. Quirky wants to help more people send their cameras to space, which is why they made the Kepler Space Kit. They didn’t say anything about retrieving your precious GoPro though.

quirky kepler space kit

The Kepler Space Kit is actually a modification of the Kepler, another upcoming Quirky product. Invented by Brian Erickson, the Kepler was designed for aerial photography – it’s basically a camera mount attached to a kite. The Space Kit takes that to another level, turning this:

Into this:

Here’s a test run of the Kepler Space Kit prototype:

Here’s what the camera was able to capture (you might want to turn down the audio for this, since the audio beacon’s beep will quickly drive you insane.)

You can help dictate the price of the Kepler Space Kit by answering a few questions on Quirky. Before you beam yourself up, keep in mind that Quirky is only selling the parachute, landing legs and the camera mount itself. You’ll have to supply the camera, the weather balloon and the helium, and an audio beacon. The kit is only compatible with GoPro cameras (with the GPS module) and the iPhone 5.

HL2 Gravity Gun Replicas Coming to ThinkGeek, Newton’s Laws Still Apply

Fans of Half-Life 2 know that the Gravity Gun is one of the greatest weapons in the history of video gaming. The idea of a gun that can pick up random objects like sawblades and turn them into projectiles was just brilliant. Well, soon you’ll be able to own a full-scale replica of this great gaming gun.

half life 2 gravity gun replica

The guys at ThinkGeek have managed to score a distribution deal for NECA’s limited-edition Gravity Gun (aka the “Zero-Point Energy Field Manipulator.”) The full-size replica will include bright orange LEDs, as well as sound effects from the game when you pull the triggers. While it looks awesome, it still can’t actually manipulate gravity like the real gun. Though you could always try this hack once you have it in your grubby little mitts.

It’s coming to ThinkGeek this April, where it will sell for $149.99(USD). While you can’t pre-order one just yet, you can get on the notification email list now if you want to score one of these for your Half-Life 2 collection.

HAL 9000 Life-Size Replica: Buy at Your Own Risk

Few villains enjoy a level of popularity as HAL 9000, which is why it’s not surprising that ThinkGeek’s newly released life-size replica of the computer from 2001: A Space Odyssey is already sold out despite its significant asking price.

hal 9000 life size replica by thinkgeek

The replica is based on “actual movie blueprints” and “original studio files.” I bet there were “geniune film documents” and “authentic cinema records” involved as well. The replica is made from aircraft-grade aluminum and of course has a red LED eye. It also speaks, cycling through 15 phrases taken from the movie. You can trigger its voice using the included remote control, but it can also be triggered by talking to it. The latter is way cooler, but don’t expect it to call you by any other name but Dave.

ThinkGeek is selling the replica for $500 (USD) each. I know you’re already throwing money at the screen and are raring to order the replica but as I said, it’s already sold out. ThinkGeek did say that it will be back in stock by January 15 so hold on to your money until then.

Tetris Magnets Let You Have Some Fun on Your Fridge

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of Tetris. I used to play it on our old Nintendo console, but I’ve only recently rediscovered it when I saw it on the Google Play store.

Now, the classic game is jumping off of the screens of gaming consoles and tablets because now you can piece together Tetris pieces on your fridge with these officially-licensed Tetris magnets.

Tetris Fridge MagnetsThis isn’t the first time someone used the classic game to come up with an actual physical thing. Remember those Tetris cushions we showed you a couple of months ago?.. and the Tetris bookshelves?.. and the Tetris lamp?.. and the Tetris computer?.. and Analog Tetris?

Of course, none of the lines will clear off your fridge once you complete the entire row, but you could always just knock the magnets off by using a kitchen towel or oven mitt or something.

The Tetris magnets are available on Amazon for just $9.99(USD) for a pack of 49 – 7 each of 7 shapes. Black refrigerator recommended.

Guts Man Operation: It Takes a Very Steady Hand!

Perhaps it was because it gave me the chance to pretend I was a surgeon at age 10, or maybe it was just the risk of tiny shocks that made Operation one of my favorite childhood games. Of course, as I grew up, video games took over, and Mega Man was certainly in heavy rotation on my NES console. So when I saw this game which combines Operation and Mega Man, I though it would have been perfect for me when I was a kid.

gutsman operation 1

This customized Operation game features the mighty and powerful Guts Man from the Mega Man games in place of Cavity Sam – yes, that guy had a name. It was made by toy hacker Kody Koala, who previously gave us the grotesque Gutsman anatomy doll. This mod got its start as an Iron Man Operation game and a Guts Man vinyl toy, bogth transformed by Mr. Koala into an awesome version of the classic electronic board game. As expected, all of his innards hanging out for you to perform various -ectomies on.

gutsman operation 3

In place of classic guts like the Funny Bone and Spare Ribs, Guts Man has a Frozen Heat Pump and a Rusted Underbelly. The game is fully-functional, and even includes custom Gutsman inspired money to play with.  Of course, his chest light illuminates if you make any surgical gaffes – though I’m not sure what sounds he makes when you goof up. I’m guessing the ones from Iron Man Operation, since he has the exact same part names.

gutsman operation 2

Of course, all of this awesomeness doesn’t come cheap. You’ll need to save up $225(USD) to get your hands on this thing. But if you’ve got the dough kicking around (and not Monopoly money), then head on over to Etsy and grab it up, before another budding surgeon does.

Kinder Surprise Egg Marriage Proposal Gives Bride-to-Be Everything But the Chocolate

If you’re lucky and if you do things right, then you’ll probably only have to plan a marriage proposal only once in your entire lifetime. So why not expend the right amount of effort and pour excessive loads of creativity and thoughtfulness into it to give your significant other the proposal of her (or his) lifetime?

Redditor rad_rob gave it a shot with his iPad proposal. Eddie wowed his girl (and thousands of geeks worldwide) with his Iron Man arc reactor proposal.

Matthew, on the other hand, popped the question with a Kinder Surprise Egg.

kinder egg surpriseMatthew and Lori used to buy and gift each other with Kinder Surprise Eggs all the time before they were banned a few years ago. So Matthew decided to use it as the basis for his proposal and painstakingly took the chocolate egg apart and replaced the toy inside with a robot figure that, when assembled, forms a tiny MatthewBot on bended knee.

kinder egg surprise 2

Of course, the ring itself was also inside. And in case you were wondering, Lori said yes.
