Check out This Redditor’s Meme-rrific Proposal

It was a match made in heaven. So when the time was just right, Redditor SirTechnocracy put together a heart-wrenching proposal that made fellow Redditors and non-Redditors alike swoon.

Last Monday morning, he posted a link of a gallery to AdviceAnimals. He shared that his girlfriend, who goes by the handle LadyTechnocracy (see what he did there?), browses Reddit everyday, so it’s highly likely that she would come across his post at some point.

Meme Proposal

The entire proposal unfolds quite nicely in a series of memes, as you can see in the gallery below.

The bottom of the meme gallery points to a link, which hosts another gallery of commissioned art that all depict one message: a proposal.

SirTechnocracy explained on Reddit: “It would be far more romantic to her than just taking her to a restaurant. Especially with all the pictures I commissioned for this (getting all those together took months and a couple thousand dollars).”

A few hours later, LadyTechnocracy apparently found the gallery. Hearing her excitement from the other room, SirTechnocracy entered the room, got down on one knee, and proposed to her in person.

Naturally, she upvoted him, and said “Yes.”

Keep Your Digits on with This Cleaver Ring

I love rings. Getting my fingers cut off by a butcher’s knife, not so much. Surprisingly, you get something sort-of pretty (in its own way), creepy, and fashionable when you combine both together.

Bloody Cleaver

This is the Cleaver Ring by Raul Souza, who hails from Brazil. It’s made from Sterling silver and recycled wood and as its name implies, it’s essentially a butcher’s knife-shaped ring that you can wear around your intact digits.

Bloody Cleaver1

As you can see, it’s normally not “bloody” so you’ll have to add the “blood” yourself. I think some watered-down ketchup or corn syrup and red food coloring will do fine.

The Cleaver Ring is for sale on Raul’s Etsy shop for $190(USD).

Pixel by Pixel: 97-Year-Old Creates Amazing Digital Art Using Microsoft Paint

I remember creating a bunch of digital artwork on Microsoft Paint when I was still a kid. A single painting took hours to complete, and I would always print the finished drawing when I was done. I found a couple of them when I was cleaning up our attic and let me just say that the mermaid I drew looked more like an alien goldfish.

But it’s possible to create amazing art on MS Paint – if you’ve got the skill and the patience. One man who has both is Hal Lasko.

Pixel Painter

Hal is a 97-year-old artist, and the main program he uses for his artwork is MS Paint. In fact, some of the images in the image above were created using Microsoft’s very basic paint program.

The most unbelievable part? Hal is legally blind.

Some of his prints are available for sale online. Check them out and maybe buy a few to support Hal. Each print is priced at $98 (USD).

The Walking Dead Debit Cards: Because Zombies Don’t Carry Cash

Just because they’re dead doesn’t mean they approve of your shopping habits. There’s nothing they can do about what you buy or don’t buy, but they can remind you that there’s more to life than shopping by showing you their dead and zombified faces every time you take that little plastic card out of your wallet..

..provided you’ve got one of these special edition prepaid debit cards, that is.

Walking Dead Credit Card1

The artwork on these cards is by the talented Charlie Adlard, who is currently the primary artist for Robert Kirkman’s highly-acclaimed The Walking Dead series.

The art might look familiar, but that’s probably because they’ve already been published in the comics or in the graphic novels that collect a set of issues of the series. My favorite one features the zombified versions of Rick, Michonne, and Andrea shown above.

Which one’s your favorite?

The Walking Dead prepaid debit cards are available online from Card.com. At least they’re not credit cards – The Governor would be responsible for collecting any late fees.

Adobe rolls out “major update” for Creative Cloud

Back on December 11, Adobe rolled out a fairly substantial update to Creative Cloud, adding new tools and other such changes that gave it quite the boost. They’re doing this again, with the company announcing the release of a “major update” that we began hearing about back in May at The Creativity Conference. With the

Creative Sound Blaster EVO Zx and ZxR headsets integrate SB-Axx1 processor for audio intelligence

It’s not every day a company comes around claiming they’ve got a pair of headphones that “intelligently” enhance the audio blasting through your eardrums in real time. That’s what the team at Creative Technology Ltd have come forth with today, suggesting their two headset contributions to the fold this month, Sound Blaster EVO ZxR and

Creative Labs rolls out Sound Blaster EVO gaming headsets with Axx processing

Creative Labs rolls out EVO Zx gaming headsets with Axx processing, NFC

Creative is no stranger to the gaming headset scene, but it operates in a very crowded field — it needs more than just big earcups and a mic to stand out. The company’s new Sound Blaster EVO line of Bluetooth headsets may do the trick. Both the EVO Zx (40mm drivers) and EVO ZxR (50mm drivers) have the same Sound Blaster Axx processing as the company’s sound cards, which lets them clean up low-grade audio and fine-tune effects through desktop and mobile apps. They’ll also pair quickly with NFC-based devices, and players can still switch to a headphone jack or USB port when only wired sound will do. Creative hasn’t dished out US launch details, but it expects to ship the EVO Zx to the UK in July for £200 ($313), followed by the EVO ZxR in August for £250 ($392). Those willing to live Axx-free can also buy the EVO Wireless and EVO in July at respective prices of £150 ($235) and £100 ($157).

Intel reveals Creative Senz3D depth camera: Embedded version in 2014

Intel’s Computex 2013 keynote wasn’t all Atom and Core; the company also had a new gadget to show off, the Creative Senz3D camera. Intended to add depth vision to an Intel-powered computer, the add-on camera is set to go on sale next quarter, and brings Kinect-style motion-gesture control to the desktop. However, Intel also has ambitions to integrate it into future systems.

intel_creative_senz3d_camera

Down the line, Intel VP of marketing Tom Kilroy revealed, the company plans to build 3D depth camera technology directly into future Intel-based devices. Presumably, just where most laptops have a webcam today, that will evolve into a depth-sensor. That’s not likely to happen until the second half of 2014, however, Kilroy conceded.

Before then, add-on devices like Creative’s webcam will be able to bring the same gesture control to existing hardware. The depth-perception is added to other sense-recognition, including touch, voice, and face, and is capable of differentiating between the subject and their environment.

In fact, the software can even remove the backdrop behind the user completely, which could be handy for video calls. Right now it’s reasonably bulky for a webcam, though that’s likely to change as the technology is refined.

Of course, Intel and Creative aren’t the only companies working on this sort of technology. Microsoft has already confirmed that it is readying a new Kinect for Windows for instance, based on the updated sensor-bar included with the Xbox One, for release sometime in 2014.
