Imagine the day when all-in-one desktops really mean it — no keyboard, no mouse, and not even a screen panel. This is precisely Pauline Carlos’ idea with her Froot concept — supposedly an entry for a Dell sustainable design contest. Sure, the color options are rather odd if not unappetizing, but if it only takes a virtual keyboard, a projector (maybe an efficient pico), a biodegradable chassis and Windows XP to save the planet, then we’re happy to oblige. Hey, there’s even a slot-loading optical drive, but bamboo discs are hard to come by these days. Now add some touchscreen Light Touch magic and we might be tempted to buy it, otherwise that cursor isn’t going to work without a mouse. One more pic after the break.

If you liked what you saw of Dell’s Mini 5 / Streak Android tablet-MID-phone-thing at CES but didn’t feel like you had enough of a chance to really see it in action, the gray market has come through for you again. We’ve just gotten pinged with this video of our friend Six-fingers handling what looks to be a fully functioning device, replete with Dell’s custom Android skin. You can see the company’s customized keyboard, navigation, and apps in the clip, and also raise your eyebrows at the fully functioning multitouch in the browser. Andy Rubin is going to hate this. Take a look at the full clip after the break, but prepare to be taken to a land of enchantment and mystery by the soundtrack.

Beautiful viewing angle and legitimately wide viewing angle, the Studio XPS 16 OLED concept laptop was on hand and turning heads at Dell’s CES suite. It’s definitely a beaut, claiming a super-thin 2mm screen, a 0.004ms response time, and a contrast ratio “exceeding 10,000:1.” The big catch here, as you can see in some of the images below (the giant “Please Do Not Touch” sign deterred us from fixing ourselves) is that the ultra-glossy wrist panel is a beacon for dust. Feast your eyes below!

Dell Vice President of Sales and Marketing Michael Tatelman started off the company’s 2010 CES press conference by saying, “Today is going to be all about mobility and new technology.” Supporting this point are Dell’s new 11-inch laptop, the Alienware M11X, and a 5-inch Android tablet.

The Alienware M11X is what some would define as a mobile gaming laptop, with its 11-inch display and weight of about 4.8 pounds, but it offers all the parts to make it a semi-fine gaming computer. It runs on the Nvidia GeForce GT 335M GPU and uses Intel’s new Ultra Low Voltage processor. On top of all this, Tatelman says, the machine can run Crysis and Call of Duty with all the settings on high. The battery, according to Dell, will run for about 6 hours. The M11X will retail for under $1,000.

PCMag laptop analyst Cisco Cheng had the chance to catch a glimpse of the concept tablet Tatelman showed off. The given specs were few, being more of a tease. What we know: It runs on the Android OS and has a 5-inch display.
