Digital Storm VANQUISH II gaming PC set to blow your mind away

digitalstorm-vanquish-2Gamers do take their hobbies very seriously, which is why from time to time, they do their bit to ensure that their gaming PCs are upgraded with nothing but the very best hardware that is in the industry, or at the very least, what their current budget permits. Digital Storm has certainly whipped up a storm (pardon the expression) with the unveiling of the brand new Vanquish II gaming PC that has been specially developed in order to play most of the demanding games that are out there in the market today, and then some.

Apart from that, the Vanquish II from Digital Storm does go to show that you need not have to spend a fortune on a gaming computer to get started. Sure, the base model with a price tag of $699 might prove to be more expensive than the Xbox One or Sony PS4, but PC gaming has always carried with it a different dimension as opposed to pure console gaming, at least according to my experience so far.

For instance, a “good” configuration will feature an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 1GB graphics card and Intel Core i3 4330 processor, while those with some more money to spare will be able to end up with an “Ultimate” build that has a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB graphics card and Intel Core i5 4570 processor, allowing the Vanquish II to deliver a truly immersive gaming experience.

As for the future, you need not worry since Vanquish II is fully upgradeable and boasts of an open architecture so that gamers will be able to remain ahead of the competition thanks to easy upgrades which will ensure that the system remains on the cutting edge for years to come, hence doing away with your need to add more upgrades so soon after purchase. All Vanquish II units will ship within 72 hours from the moment an order is placed. What are you waiting for?

Digital Storm Teases Steam Machine For CES 2014

Digital Storm Teases Steam Machine For CES 2014When it comes to gaming PCs, Digital Storm is a company that has released some pretty impressive (and beautiful looking) products in the past. Now it looks like they are back again and this time instead of announcing a new PC meant for gamers, they have announced their own Valve approved Steam Machine. At the moment the exact specifications of Digital Storm’s take on the Steam Machine remains somewhat a mystery, although what we do know is that it will come with a liquid cooling system, advanced thermal management, and will come with NVIDIA’s GeForce GTA Titan graphics card as an option. It will also be able to dual-boot both Windows and SteamOS, allowing gamers to swap between platforms as needed.

We reckon this is a pretty smart move as gamers who want a bit of productivity will be able to switch between operating systems when the need arises. It will measure 4.4-inches wide, 14.1-inches deep, and 16.4-inches tall, making it a tad larger than the Xbox One, but still compact enough where it will not take up too much room, unlike the company’s previous PC offerings with towering PC cases. Unfortunately in terms of pricing, the Digital Storm Steam Machine will be priced starting at $1,469, meaning that compared to iBuypower’s Steam Machine offering of $499, this will not be as accessible. In any case check back with us during CES 2014 where we will have more information available for you.

Digital Storm unveils the HydroLux desktop cooling solution

HydroLuxFor those of us out there who love to pimp out our respective desktop computers to maximize their performance, it will more often than not involve overclocking. Needless to say, overclocking is a highly technical skill, and if you like to push the proverbial envelope always, then surely you would need to figure out just how you would keep that processor cool while working beyond its intended limits. A great cooling solution would come in handy, but just which particular one should you settle for? Digital Storm thinks that they might have a solution in the form of the HydroLux desktop cooling solution.

< !-more-->The HydroLux has been described to be a complete desktop cooling solution which will combine liquid as well as airflow cooling with fully customizable control software. This will not be a cooling solution that you can get anywhere, but rather, it will be available exclusively on Digital Storm desktops, where HydroLux will be able to monitor and automatically adjust the temperature fluctuations in real-time, now how about that for taking a leap in the realm of PC cooling?

The HydroLux will boast of a proprietary Control Center software which will deliver enthusiasts complete control of the cooling system and chassis. This would also include detailed temperature graphs, thermal linked LED lighting as well as automated airflow optimization. A simple click of your mouse button will see the HydroLux transform chassis LED lighting into a powerful tool that will be able to monitor system temperatures. Whenever internal system and fluid temperatures rise, HydroLux will give you a visual representation of the fluctuations by fading LED lighting from a cool blue to a warm red. Enthusiasts too, will be able to get a visual indication of when they have pushed their system to new heights, as the chassis lighting will switch to red every time a maximum temperature recording is exceeded.

Digital Storm Veloce review: Clevo’s new gaming laptop is cheap, powerful, flawed

Digital Storm Veloce review: Clevo's new gaming laptop is cheap, powerful, flawed

In a market obsessed with slim, lightweight, energy-efficient machines, gaming laptops stick out like a sore thumb. Hulking 17- and 18-inch chassis dominate the category like a physical representation of a tired cliché: bigger is better. In some ways, the old phrase rings true — these oversized machines often pack the latest and greatest components — but any hope of reasonable portability is lost in the mass.

Despite this overwhelming (and oversized) majority, a handful of small-frame rigs still make it to market each year, and one of 2013’s most petite just happens to have landed on our reviews desk. Meet the Clevo W230ST, a 13-inch, ODM (original device manufacturer) gaming notebook destined to be rebadged under different brands. As such, it goes by many names — Sager, Origin PC and AVADirect each have their own take — but today, we’re looking at Digital Storm’s version, the Veloce. Can this diminutive monster keep up with the category’s biggest beasts? Let’s find out.

Digital Storm’s 13.3-inch VELOCE gaming laptop grants Haswell power savings, HD gameplay for $1,535 on July 17

    Image

Digital Storm’s mostly known for its many desktop gaming rigs, but it dabbles in laptops, too. Its latest portable offering, the VELOCE, comes packing a 13.3-inch, 1920 x 1080 display, a quad-core Haswell Core i7 4800MQ CPU and NVIDIA GTX 765M graphics. It’s also got 8GB of RAM and 2GB of graphics memory along with three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, VGA out, and Bluetooth 4.0. Storage comes in the form of a hybrid drive comprised of a 7,200RPM 750GB HDD and an 8GB SATA SSD. All that hardware tips the scales at 4.6 pounds and is 1.26 inches thick — sizing right in line with its 14-inch competition from MSI, but roughly twice the girth and a half-pound heavier than a Razer Blade. Regardless, those yearning for a VELOCE of their own can grab one at Digital Storm’s website should they be willing to part with $1,535 come July 17th.

    Digital Storm VELOCE gaming notebook

If there ever was an oxymoron, a gaming notebook would fit the mould in my books. After all, if you want a lean, mean, gaming machine, a souped up desktop would work to your advantage a whole lot more than a notebook which has its innards pimped out to resemble the performance of a gaming desktop. I know, there has been some notable standouts in the world of gaming notebooks in the past, but lugging those bad boys around can be hazardous to your health, especially when you do not want to dislocate your shoulder after a long day on the showfloor with a monster of a gaming notebook in your backpack. Enter Digital Storm’s VELOCE gaming notebook that intends to shatter conventional views about it.

For starters, the VELOCE gaming notebook is a 13.3” slim machine which definitely has looks that betrays its performance. Most folks might think of the VELOCE to be an ordinary working machine, but despite its 4.6 pound chassis (battery included) that measures a mere 1.26” thin, it packs more than enough graphical and gaming firepower underneath the hood to take you and a bunch of other naysayers aback.

The VELOCE holds the distinction of being the first Haswell powered slim gaming notebook that comes with a Full HD resolution display that will certainly not come up short when it wants to show off stunning visuals. Depending on the hardware configuration of your choice, the VELOCE gaming notebook would retail from $1,535 upwards, and runs on an Intel Core i7 4800MQ processor, NVIDIA’s GTX 765M graphics card, carries 8GB RAM, and a full high-resolution HD screen (1920×1080) 13.3″ display as mentioned earlier. There is also enough room to stash a couple of drives (mSATA & 2.5”) in a RAID configuration, while connectivity options include a dedicated internal network port, SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 1.4, VGA video out ports and Bluetooth. Are your hands itching to wrap around the VELOCE gaming notebook? It will be available from July 17th onwards.
