This particular Mass Effect themed DLC pack came was announced by Minecraft Xbox 360 developer 4J Studios, where it will bring with it a Mass Effect textures set, a new themed user interface, a pre-built world that is based on the Mars Facility, three dozen new skins and 22 music tracks from Mass Effect 3.

BioShock Infinite DLC Clash in the Clouds appears today, ready for battle

The first of two downloadable expansions for the game BioShock Infinite has been unveiled today for download. This download goes by the name Clash in the Clouds and is what the creators of this game call an “action-focused” expansion, it also arriving as the smaller of the two expansions that’ve been planned for this title. This game’s developers at Irrational Games have also announced the second expansion: Burial at Sea.

    infinita

This first expansion builds on the action-oriented angles in the game whose original chapter was released all the way back in 2007. With BioShock Infinite, users were asked to join a futuristic (yet retro) steampunk-like adventure complete with gadgets & and gizmos, monsters, and magic. And lots of fantasy landscapes and environments to explore.

This upgrade for the game appears for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC today, coming in at $5 USD. Clash in the Clouds brings new abilities – mostly magic – and you back down to Rapture, starting in on “the eve of the underwater city’s fall from grace.”

Explore the city when it was at the height of its beauty, meet some old “friends,” and make some new ones, all through the eyes of Booker DeWitt. Why are Booker and Elizabeth in Rapture? What was the city like before everything fell to pieces? The answers to these questions and more will be found in BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea — Episode 1.

This expansion was build “almost entirely from scratch” using the BioShock Infinite engine and modifies the gameplay format from the base game. This modification tweaks the combat experience to be a mix between the original BioShock and the newer BioShock Infinite – the best of both worlds.

EA revenue from downloads and web now overtaking that of disc-based games

    Real Racing 3

If you think EA’s bottom line is primarily driven by endless Madden sequels, think again. In reporting its fiscal first quarter results, the studio has revealed that its digital businesses — DLC, mobile and the web — now generate more official revenue ($482 million) than disc-based games and distribution ($467 million). The company isn’t breaking down these figures, although it says that DLC and mobile are the main factors. We do know that iOS plays a crucial role — EA says that Apple is now its largest retail partner in terms of pure sales. The revenue shift isn’t completely surprising when the company is big on flagship mobile games and the free-to-play model, but it suggests that discs are losing some of their luster at one of the world’s largest developers.

South Park’s Trey Parker says nay to DLC for “Stick of Truth”

Add this one to your ever-growing book of video game enthusiasts against downloadable additions (DLC) to video games connected to the internet: Trey Parker says no to the whole mess for The Stick of Truth. The South Park-themed game will be released by the end of this year – right in time for the holiday season – but it’ll be cut to a standard size where its creators originally slated it to have so much content it would have taken many, many years to complete.

    herwwwe

Speaking up at a Comic Con panel was none other than one of the two originators of the South Park universe, Parker dropping the F-bomb on the idea that they’d take the “extra content” they’d created for the game and release it as DLC. The plan instead, it’s readily understood, is that the content will be filtered into the South Park television series. The television series meanwhile has no end in sight – even if it has to be a web-based series some time in the future.

NOTE: Just in case you’re not up-to-date on the THQ bankruptcy situation – The Stick of Truth was picked up by Ubisoft. For the save!

What you’ve got with The Stick of Truth is a game that Parker reminded the audience this week is heavily inspired by the likes of The Legend of Zelda and recent epic-scale releases like Skyrim. That’s not to say it’ll be released with next-level eye-searing graphics.

    On the contrary.

South Park: The Stick of Truth will continue the construction paper cut-out legacy that is the origins of the series. You’ll see some fancy “3D” graphics as appear here and there throughout the television series, but for the most part you’ll be staying quite flat. Make it go!

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Obtains More DLC This May 14

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Obtains More DLC This May 14When it comes to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, you know that plenty about the game has been written about it so far, and earlier this year, we did talk about how Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on the PS3 would be on the receiving end of exclusive VR missions, which is a boon for those who are gaming on the PS3 platform. Well, here are additional nuggets of information on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, where it is tipped to pick up additional downloadable content later in May (May 14th, to be exact), which will make LQ-84i playable in the side story.

After all, who does not want to step into the shoes, er, paws of a robot ninja dog, right? Not only that, the LQ-84i is certainly a crowd puller, especially among the ladies, which might very well be one of the incentives for the existence of the next Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance DLC. Konami claims that this new add-on will boast of “multiple hours” of new gameplay, where it will revolve around Bladewolf and its origins. With a DLC name like “Blade Wolf,” ‘nuff said.

Nintendo’s digital game sales hit an all-time high

DNP Nintendo digital games sales more than double

Nintendo’s hardware sales may be in a bit of a stupor, but its downloadable games are a different story. During today’s financial results briefing, the company’s president, Satoru Iwata, announced that digital sales for the 2013 fiscal year, which ended in March, cruised past ¥16 billion (around $160.9 million), more than doubling transactions from the last two years. Nintendo’s frontman went on to credit the demand for downloadable game add-ons and the convenience of digital titles as contributing factors in the company’s surge. Iwata also pointed out that most 3DS owners are using their systems online. This includes 87 percent of the handheld’s owners in Japan and 83 percent in the US. While these numbers are impressive, the system’s internet use statistics start to dwindle in Europe, where its user connectivity rate is only 57 percent. The Wii U‘s user base is almost as connected, with 80 percent of the platform’s owners taking the system online The company’s e-commerce may be thriving, but we wouldn’t bet on seeing Nintendo announce a download-only console during its E3 keynote presentation.
