Dropbox Releases Update For iOS 7

Dropbox Releases Update For iOS 7Just last week, Dropbox unveiled what looked like a potentially new design for iOS 7. The good news for Dropbox users is that if you did not already set your apps to be updated automatically, you can hit up the iTunes App Store and download the update which will bring your version of Dropbox up to the latest version where not only has the app been redesigned to fit the overall flatter and minimalist theme of iOS 7, but it has also introduced a host of small tweaks that should hopefully make your Dropbox experience better.

For example Dropbox has integrated the support for AirDrop, allowing users to share links and files easily, and have also reportedly increased the speed of the app as well, such as photo loading and video playback. They have also corrected some minor bugs that caused the app to crash once in a while. In any case the visual redesign is a welcome change, so if you don’t already use Dropbox, you can download it for free via the iTunes App Store. In the meantime what do you guys make of the latest changes? Do you love the new design of the app?

Dropbox reveals iOS 7-inspired iPhone and iPad redesign

Dropbox has rolled out a redesign for the iPad and iPhone, something it says was inspired by the latest iteration of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 7. The design is simplified extensively, and is pretty streamlined in appearance, with a lot of contrast in the elements and a lot of white space. The update is […]

Dropbox gets an iOS 7 makeover with AirDrop sharing

    Dropbox 3.0 for iPad

Dropbox may be late to the iOS 7 app update party, but it’s making up for lost time with an abundance of new features in the just-launched version 3.0 release for Apple’s platform. The refresh brings the expected iOS 7-friendly look and includes AirDrop, making it easy to share links or whole files with nearby friends. It’s also easier to send files to other apps or save videos to the device library, and iPad owners can quickly open files in a full-screen view. If your cloud storage revolves around Dropbox, we’d strongly recommend swinging by the App Store for an upgrade.

Dropbox for Android makes file sharing more social with new share function, notification feed

While it doesn’t include anything groundbreaking, the newest Dropbox update for Android intros a few handy features. Perhaps most prominent is the new notifications feed, where you can access your latest account activity via the bell icon on the app menu. That could be super useful if you share folders with friends or co-workers, but if not, you can now also email them images and videos from within the app. To do so, simply find the option under the Share umbrella and go to town forwarding your memes. Finally, Dropbox, in hopes of enticing you to shell out for its services, can now auto-fill your credit card details if you take a pic of your plastic. We’ve embedded screenshots of the new features after the break for those who’d like to get a peek before downloading the update.

Dropbox Figures Out It Is Worth $8 Billion

Dropbox Figures Out It Is Worth $8 BillionI would suppose that as a company, the suits at the top would always seek out the best result in any deal. Dropbox is no different, either, although the company might have just raised an eyebrow or two with plans to raise additional money (touted to be in the region of at least $250 million in the weeks to come by those who claim to be in the know), while sporting a valuation that stands at a minimum of $8 billion – which would be more than double in its previous round that closed in October a couple of years ago.

Ana Andreescu, a Dropbox spokeswoman, when enquired concerning the funding round, said, “What we can say is that with over 200 million users and 4 million businesses, Dropbox has continued and strong momentum.” Do you think that $8 billion is thinking too highly of itself as a company? Dropbox CEO and co-founder Houston was touted to have been bragging recently that the company has not spent all of the money it raised in the previous round of funding, but could make do with a cash infusion in order to bring its growing ambitions to new heights. What do you think of Dropbox and its self evaluation? $8 billion certainly sounds like a whole lot, won’t you say so?

Dropbox Reveals New iOS 7 Design, Updates Dropbox For Business Features

Dropbox Reveals New iOS 7 Design, Updates Dropbox For Business FeaturesGood news Dropbox users for iOS! If you have been hoping that the app would be receiving an update that would put the app in line with the design language of iOS 7, you might not have to wait much longer. According to a recent post on Dropbox’s blog, they have revealed the app that looks like it has been somewhat dramatically redesigned to keep in tune with the look and feel of iOS 7. No word on when this update is expected to drop, but presumably with Dropbox being comfortable to release these images, we can only imagine it will be in the near future.

As part of the blog post, Dropbox has also announced that they will be making some changes to Dropbox for Business, its paid enterprise service that offers multiple user support, enhanced security, and team management features. According to Dropbox, this upcoming feature will allow users to connect both their personal and business account and use both simultaneously, albeit with separate folders as you can see in the image above. Dropbox claims that this particular feature will be rolled out starting this month to Dropbox for Business customers, but we’re not sure if this means that the visual update for regular Dropbox users will happen this month as well, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled nonetheless.

Dropbox update adds automatic screenshot saving, iPhoto imports

dnp Dropbox update brings automatic screenshot saving, iPhoto imports for Mac users

It’s not a huge update, but today Dropbox gains the ability to automatically save your computer screenshots. Next time you immortalize that Gchat, your screen-cap will be saved to your Dropbox account and copied to your clipboard as a link for sharing. (You’ll have the ability to opt out of this new feature, should you feel so inclined.) In a nod to Mac users, the cloud storage service is also adding automatic iPhoto imports. Dropbox has supported automatic photo uploads on Mac and Windows machines for some time now, but today’s new feature lets Mac users copy over all locally stored images — no SD card required.
