EA Looking To Transition Older Battlefield Titles From GameSpy’s Servers

EA Looking To Transition Older Battlefield Titles From GameSpys ServersAbout a week ago, we reported that GameSpy, the online gaming service, would be shutting its doors on the 31st of May. The service has been around for the longest time ever and we guess all good things must come to an end eventually, right? Unfortunately what this means is that some games might lose their multiplayer functionality, and some of the titles that utilized GameSpy’s services included some older Battlefield titles.

Now the good news is that while we doubt there are many gamers who are still playing some of the older Battlefield titles, EA has announced that they will be working on a transition that will bring the games onto other services where multiplayer games will continue to live on. According to an EA official, “We’re working on finding a transition, but still have technical hurdles to overcome. We will make an announcement when there is news to share.”

Unfortunately not every Battlefield game will be making the cut but according to EA, they have named three titles which includes Battlefield 2, Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 2142, so if you are still playing those games and would love to continue playing them with friends, hopefully EA will come up with a way to let you keep doing so.

Battlefield 4: Naval Strike Will See General Release On 15 AprilAs you might have heard from about a week ago, EA revealed that the Battlefield 4: Naval Strike DLC would be delayed for both Xbox One and PC gamers. The good news is that we now have a release date, according to a recent tweet by the official Battlefield Twitter account which revealed that the Naval Strike DLC will be available on the 15th of April to all non-premium members.

The DLC was originally meant to be released on the 25th of March for Premium members, although the delay of the Xbox One version meant that non-Premium members had their release delayed too otherwise it wouldn’t be fair to Premium members who were supposed to get their hands on it before everyone else. EA Reportedly Secures Publishing Rights For Titanfall 2 [Rumor]Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall was released not too long ago for the Xbox One and the PC, although as it stands the Xbox 360 version of the game has been delayed to April. Basically what we’re trying to say is that the game is only a little over a week old, but it seems that there are talks about a Titanfall 2.

According to the reports, EA has managed to secure the rights to be the publisher (again) for Titanfall 2. Apparently this was under the condition that the first Titanfall game had to do well in order for EA to pursue that option, but based on reports so far, it sounds like the game is enjoying a fair amount of success despite some minor hiccups.
