EA Promises To Learn From Battlefield 4 Mistakes

battlefield4When Battlefield 4 was first launched, it was marred by glitches and bugs that rendered the game almost unplayable and also highly unstable. In fact it had gotten so bad to the point where lawsuits were filed against EA, alleging that the publisher had misled investors with their comments claiming that all was good despite knowing in advance that the game would be buggy. Also there has been speculation that EA might have rushed development of the game to beat Activision’s Call of Duty: Ghosts to the market. (more…)

EA Paid YouTube Video Producers For Next-Gen Game Promotions

EA Paid YouTube Video Producers For Next Gen Game PromotionsElectronic Arts (EA) has taken the very same road that Microsoft did, by paying YouTube video producers in order for them to post footage of its games, where among the titles include Battlefield 4 and Need for Speed Rivals, at least this was what was reported by NeoGAF. This particular program from EA known as Ronku allows video producers to earn money for showing off footage of the next-gen versions of Battlefield 4 and Need For Speed Rivals.

EA Boasts 61 Billion Minutes Of Playtime On Origin

EA Boasts 61 Billion Minutes Of Playtime On OriginThere are a few different gaming platforms at the moment for PC gamers, such as Valve’s Steam and EA’s Origin, just to name a few. In fact Valve’s Gabe Newell recently boasted that Steam had 65 million users, but it looks like EA is not about to let Valve hog the limelight as they have recently released an infographic in which they are claiming that they have more than 50 million registered accounts, of which their gamers have managed to clock about 61 billion minutes in gaming in 2013 alone! If you’re wondering how long 61 billion minutes are in terms of hours, days, or years, that works out to be about 11,5981 years. Yikes!

EA managed to arrive at those numbers based on 1.3 billion gaming sessions, which after doing a bit more math, has resulted in an average gameplay time of 45 minutes per session, with gamers managing to unlock about 159 million achievements and holding about 300 million chat conversations too. Phew, those are a lot of numbers! Unfortunately EA did not mention how many users they had registered with Origin, but like we said earlier, it’s probably over 50 million since it was back in July of 2013 that EA revealed those numbers, so we can only assume with the addition of new games, the user count should be on the rise, unless of course EA’s snafu with games like Battlefield 4 and SimCity have caused Origin users to abandon ship.

SimCity Lead Engineer Explains Why Offline Mode Took So Long

SimCity Lead Engineer Explains Why Offline Mode Took So LongBack in 2013, EA and Maxis launched the latest version of their popular SimCity game. It featured some pretty nice graphics and features, but if there was one issue that bugged many gamers is the fact that it required an internet connection. SimCity, for the most part, has been a single-player game so the need for an internet connection seemed weird, and the fact that it was mandatory as opposed to option made it even worse, especially when the game was launched and there were many server issues causing it to be unplayable. EA Releases Stability Patch For Battlefield 4

EA Releases Stability Patch For Battlefield 4EA’s Battlefield 4 is a game that is riddled with bugs, to the point where there are multiple lawsuits aimed at the company, claiming that EA made false claims about the game despite knowing there were issues prior to and after the launch, which supposedly were made to inflate its stock prices. It was to the point the EA vowed to put an end to all, if not a majority of the bugs, before they start releasing DLCs which in all honesty is a good move, although we’re guessing many gamers are probably annoyed at this point. Well the good news for Battlefield 4 gamers is that EA has recently released a new patch that will address various stability issues and balances.

It is unclear how much of an improvement this patch has made the game and we doubt that it will fix it completely or address 100% of the issues out there, but we do like the sound of it so far, mainly how there are “various fixes for improving general stability”. We expect that this will not be the last update that EA will be releasing in the near future and there are probably many more to come, but Battlefield 4 gamers out there who have downloaded and updated their game, what do you guys make of the patch so far? Does it address some issues plaguing the game? Or do you think that EA has a long way to go in making it right for everyone?

EA Faces Another Potential Lawsuit Over Battlefield 4

EA Faces Another Potential Lawsuit Over Battlefield 4EA’s Battlefield 4 is currently facing a host of legal problems. Technically the first lawsuit filed against the publisher over the game was what we reported a couple of weeks ago, although before that a law firm launched their own investigations as to whether a lawsuit should be filed, but it seems that 2013 has yet to come to a close and EA has since had another lawsuit filed against them. Law firm Brower Piven has announced their plans to file a class action lawsuit against EA claiming that the publisher knew about the problems n Battlefield 4 before its release, but chose to release it anyway. The lawsuit has yet to be filed but they are currently exploring their options.

The lawsuit, if filed, is essentially the same thing we’ve been hearing in the past, which is how EA’s statements on Battlefield 4 were misleading before and after the launch of the game, which the complainants believed were made in order to raise the prices of EA’s stocks. Analyst Timothy Green of The Motley Fool now believes that the franchise has since been tarnished, and that gamers in the future are more likely to pick Activision’s Call of Duty franchise over Battlefield. For those hearing about this for the first time, EA’s Battlefield 4 has been riddled with bugs since its release to the point where the published had to put a halt to future DLCs in a bid to quash the bugs and rectify all problems before proceeding.

Some claim that EA’s rushed efforts were because they wanted to beat Activision’s Call of Duty: Ghosts to the punch, and while we guess they managed to do that, we’re not sure if we would consider that to be a victory.

Second Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against EA Over Battlefield 4

Second Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against EA Over Battlefield 4We’re not sure if it is because Battlefield 4 truly is a buggy game beyond playability, or if it is because some people are just opportunists, but it wasn’t too long after we reported that EA could face a lawsuit over Battlefield 4 that we have learnt that another law firm, Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, have filed for legal action against EA over claims that the publisher might not have been compliant with federal securities laws when issuing statements about Battlefield 4 during the period of July 24th to December 4th. EA Faces Potential Lawsuit Over Battlefield 4

EA Faces Potential Lawsuit Over Battlefield 4According to the rumors, Battlefield 4 was a rushed out game by EA and DICE in a bid to beat Activision’s Call of Duty: Ghosts to the punch. The result was a fairly buggy game that led to EA’s SVP to announce that they could have done a better job. However it seems that it might be too little too late, as law firm Holzer Holzer & Fistel have announced that they will launch an investigation against EA over Battlefield 4, or to be more specific, to see if EA has “complied with federal securities laws” when the company was making statements during the course of development, and after the launch of the game itself.

The statement made by the law firm seems to, or at least wants to, represent the interests of the shareholders of EA, who might have suffered losses due to EA’s stock prices taking a dip due to the problems plaguing the game. It wasn’t too long ago that EA announced that they would be putting a halt to future Battlefield 4 DLCs until they resolved all the problems with the game at the moment, and while this is a good move by the company, it did not sit well with investors as stock prices of EA saw a drop of 7.3% following the announcement. At the moment this does not appear to be a lawsuit yet, but it could be one.
