EA’s free-to-play FIFA 14 arrives on iOS and Android

EA's freetoplay FIFA 14 arrives on iOS and Android

Whether you refer to it as fútbol, football or soccer, there’s no denying that the FIFA franchise is one of the sports’ best options for gaming across the various existing platforms. Now, following in the footsteps of its relative Madden 25, FIFA 14 is available for iOS as well as Android. As with its sporting game sibling, the renowned title’s latest mobile edition can be downloaded at no cost, with EA hoping to bring in revenue by way of in-app purchases — which includes anything from Ultimate Team points to the unlocking of additional game modes (such as Manager and Tournament). Be prepared to make some room for FIFA 14 on your device though, since the app’s size is a little more than 1GB in both the App Store and Google Play.

Battlefield 4 for Xbox One may get Kinect-based look controls

Battlefield 4 for Xbox One may get Kinectbased look controls and voice commands

If you’ve wanted to immerse your body in a first-person shooter, you’ve typically had to use a complex simulator. Battlefield 4 may soon provide a decidedly simpler (and cheaper) alternative. DICE’s Patrick Bach has revealed to Xbox Wire that the game may use the Xbox One’s Kinect sensor for head-tracking look controls, such as leaning around a corner. Voice commands might also be available, Bach says. There’s no guarantees that BF4 will get the new input methods, but DICE may have competition as an incentive. Infinity Ward recently hinted to Official Xbox Magazine that Call of Duty: Ghosts could use Kinect for more than navigating menus, so there’s a chance that at least one of the two games will have motion control in the future.

EA Sports, Origin head Andrew Wilson named new Electronic Arts CEO

EA Sports head Andrew Wilson named Electronic Arts CEO

Following the resignation of CEO Job Riccitiello back in March, Electronic Arts has announced that the head of EA Sports, Andrew Wilson, has been named as the successor. Wilson also served as an executive producer of the FIFA franchise and EVP of Origin. Chairman of the Board and former CEO Larry Probst led the company during the search that ultimately ended up hiring from within. In a blog post, Wilson committed to delivering the outfit’s 2014 fiscal year goals with focus on “continued transformation for our digital future, delivering amazing games and services across platforms and instilling a culture of execution that will drive profitable growth.” The new chief has little time to settle in though, as the next-gen console launches are just two months away.

Gareth Bale Appears In Real Madrid Shirt In FIFA 14 Trailer

Gareth Bale Appears In Real Madrid Shirt In FIFA 14 TrailerAt the close of the transfer window in the world of football (or soccer, depending on which continent you live on), it seems that Gareth Bale of Tottenham Hotspurs has received what he has been holding out for – a move to Real Madrid. Plenty of rumors and speculation surrounding the situation have been circulating all this while, but it seems that there has been no concrete information, although it was reported earlier today that Gareth Bale has made the switch to his current dream team for a possible world record transfer fee. EA Sports seemed to have been prepared for this particular occasion, where their latest trailer for FIFA 14 showed off Gareth Bale – not in a Spurs jersey, but in his new Real Madrid kit.

The 15-second clip saw the ex-Tottenham player appear from behind Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo, where the clip ended with the words, “It Just Got Real” that added further weight to this bit of news. Hopefully Bale will be able to flourish in the Spanish capital, as English players tend to perform differently abroad than when they were back home. It remains to be seen how Bale’s move would see a change in his position on the FIFA 14 cover of the UK edition.
