These Gold plated Earphones Will Cost You $14,500If you’re looking for an accessory that will match your recently acquired gold iPhone 5s, perhaps these pair of Happy Plugs earphones will do the trick, although you should be warned that getting your hands on a pair of these earphones will set you back an eye-watering $14,500. Yup, you read that right, these pair of gold plated earphones will cost you a small fortune, and why not? After all these earphones are crafted in Sweden and feature 25 grams of gold per earbud, not in total, but per earbud, meaning that you’d be stuffing your ears with about 50 grams worth of gold!

They have also been designed to resemble the original Apple earbuds so that’s a walk down memory lane for some of you, although we’re not sure if these guys have managed to fix the issue where the earbuds keep slipping out of your ears, and for $14,500 you would think they might. If you’re interested in getting your hands on these earphones, whose audio quality we can’t attest to, hit up the Happy Plugs website where you will be able to order one for yourself. Those who do not have $14,500 to spare will be happy to know that they offer regular earphones which are priced at a more reasonable $24.99-$29.99.

Jony Ive Creates Solid Gold EarPods For Charity Auction

Jony Ive Creates Solid Gold EarPods For Charity AuctionGold plated products can come off sometimes as being a little ostentatious, but we guess there are some who love such finishes and if you’re one of them and have some money to spare, perhaps these pair of solid gold EarPods might be an item you’d want to bid on. These Apple EarPods were designed and plated in gold in a collaborative effort between Apple’s design guru, Jony Ive, and industrial designer Marc Newson. The earphones will be coated in 18k solid gold and unfortunately apart from the new paint gold, it remains the same accessory that comes bundled with every iPhone out there.

The accessory will be auctioned off on the 23rd of November in New York and will be part of the Project (RED) charity organized by U2’s Bono. According to Ive, “Each piece represents the value of thoughtful design. What we create for each other is not only a comment on our culture, but of course in many ways defines it.”  There will be other items auctioned off during the event as well, although we’re not sure how much these gold plated EarPods will fetch. Anyone have an idea how much someone might pay for these? Might go with the gold iPhone 5S!

The Pogo Concept Is The MagSafe Equivalent For Earphones

We’re sure many of you guys have experienced getting your earphone cables caught on something, like the edge of the table, the door handle, and etc., and the result is either the cables getting yanked out violently from your device, or it could pull the device from your pocket or hands and make it crash to the floor. However wouldn’t it be great if there were a way to connect our earphones to our media devices without worrying about that? Something like Apple’s MagSafe adapter where it would disconnect without causing the device to crash to the floor? Well that’s what the Pogo concept aims to achieve.

According to the Pogo’s description, “Using a neodymium magnet and 4 “pogo” pins, a strong connection is made between the two pieces, passing the signal through. The end result is a product that is universally useful, and innovates a technology that hasn’t changed much since its inception in the 60′s.” Essentially it would be similar to the MagSafe adapter in which the cable would disconnect if too much force is applied on it, but at the same time strong enough so that it will not disconnect too easily. Unfortunately the Pogo is a concept meaning that there’s no telling if and when it would be made a reality, but in the meantime you can check it out in the video above.

Muzik smart headphones let audiophiles share on Facebook and Twitter

Headphones come in all shapes and sizes, yet offer more or less the same functionality. The folks behind Muzik aim to change this, announcing the soon-to-be-available smart headphones that allow users to natively share the song they’re listening to on Facebook, Twitter, and elsewhere. This is the first of what will be a line of different wearable technology devices, says the company’s vice chairman John Cawley.

    Musiz

Unfortunately, not much was revealed in the way of specifications, with the announcement instead focusing on what Muzik offers that is different over other headphones on the market: Social Smartware functionality. As such, the headphones are being touted as the first-ever that allow listeners to share what they’re listening to on social networks from the device itself.

The company hints that the sharing functionality expands beyond just Facebook and Twitter, saying that in addition to sharing on those two networks, the headphones also allow users to “send a song anywhere in the world.” Furthermore, the Muzik website speaks of an Android and iOS app that “learns” while users listen to music.

As far as actual design goes, the headphones are over-the-ear and feature capacitive touch controls. Neither pricing nor a release date for the headphones have been released, but the company promises that a pre-order announcement will be made “shortly.” As for the actual launch, the device will hit shelves some time in the fourth quarter of this year.

Muzik President and CEO Jason Hardi said: “While the music industry has seen its challenges, technological advances have also created a world of opportunity, which Muzik is seizing to create an entirely new category. Headphones will never again just be for listening to music or talking on the phone – our headphones will improve the way we socially discover, share, listen and experience music. In addition to music exploration, I look forward to working with the developer community to create amazing applications leveraging smart headphones.”

    JBL WR2.4 headphones introduced

When it comes to the world of headphones, making a particular purchase decision is not all that easy. After all, there are so many models to choose from, and you do not want to end up forking out money for something that does not offer as much bang for your buck as you wished. Well, one name that I am quite sure is able to serve up decent value for money would be JBL, and one of their latest headphones would be the JBL WR2.4. Of course, right off the bat, most folks would notice that the JBL WR2.4 headphones is missing the cord, which is an all too common feature in majority of the headphones out there, leading us to only one conclusion – this is a wireless device which will hopefully live up to the family name.

In a nutshell, without a cable to tether the JBL WR2.4 headphones to a compatible music playback device, you will be able to enjoy untethered freedom to move around, as long as the headphones remain within range, that is. We are looking at approximately 100 feet (30 meters) of reception range, while the nuilt-in rechargeable batteries will let you extend freedom from the AC outlet, too, delivering up to eight hours of continuous playtime.

Apart from wireless convenience, the JBL WR2.4 headphones have also been specially designed to be comfortable to wear, too. It is lightweight in nature, and comes with generously sized padded cups as well as a fully adjustable headband. This would allow you to wear the wireless headphones without suffering from fatigue or feeling hot between the head despite wearing it for an extended period of time. The WR2.4 headphones comes with semi-closed back acoustics to deliver naturally enhanced sound quality via their 18 Hz to 20 kHz sound range, while it has an uncompromising 2.4 GHz digital bandwidth for reception that remains untainted by transmission noise, sporting 32-ohm impedance to deliver a wide range of listening volumes. Running on a pair of AAA batteries, the JBL WR2.4 headphones can be yours for $99.95 per pair.

Beats Studio next generation headphones slated for launch in August

Beats Electronics has rolled out the carpet for its next-generation Beats Studio headphones, announcing that they will be available for purchase in August with a price tag of $299 USD. With the latest version comes a promise of improvements across quality and design, as well as a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, something the original lacked.

    Beats Studio Headphones

As far as design goes, there are three options featured in the image above. The latest generation of Beats Studio uses a lighter material than the original version, and is designed to be both stronger and more flexible. The headphones feature no straight lines, and none of the screws are visible. Likewise, the ear cups can be adjusted to fit the wearer via an “ergonomic adjustment mechanism,” a change over the last version.

The headphones utilize adaptive noise cancellation, more commonly called ANC, which includes two modes: a music mode, and an increased noise cancellation mode that results from unplugging the cable. In the former mode, Beats Electronics says the combination between noise cancellation and music is balanced, with the materials used in the construction aiding the process.

Beats Acoustic Engine – a digital tuning software – is used to tune to Beats Studio headphones for proper sound quality, while manually swapping batteries is a thing of the past with the integrated rechargeable battery. Use time comes in around the 20 hour mark on a charge, which is achieved using either a USB cable or a standard outlet. There’s a built-in charge indicator in the form of 5 LEDs, as well as automatic shutdowns to help conserve the battery.

Said Jimmy Iovine, “With the original Studio headphone we set out to prove that people all around the world care enough about sound to invest in it – and we did. Now we are taking it a step further. The new Studio is tuned with balance, accuracy and emotion, has a breathtaking design and truly innovative technology. This is the sound of the future.”
