Flappy Bird Sold On eBay For Hundreds Of Dollars

Flappy Bird Sold On eBay For Hundreds Of DollarsInstead of reveling in the success of his game, Flappy Bird, its creator has decided to remove the game from all the app stores that it is available in at the moment, claiming that he “cannot take this anymore”. He claims it has nothing to do with legal issues, but many speculate that could be the case. Well whatever it is, if you weren’t quick on the draw in downloading the game, you will not be able to get your hands on it anymore, unless you’re willing to pay hundreds of dollars for it, of course. Nope, this isn’t the developer selling the game off, but rather enterprising iPhone owners who have taken to eBay to auction off the iPhones with the game preinstalled on it.

As you can see in the screenshot above, there are many listings on eBay for the phone with the game installed on it. The prices of the phones are around the $600-$800 mark, with one particular unit even selling for $1,500. Interestingly enough there seems to be several bids on these listings, suggesting that there is a market for iPhones with Flappy Bird preinstalled on them. We’re not sure if all these listings will be successful but what do you guys think? Is this taking the craze for the game a little too far?

Nintendo World Championships Cartridge Sold For Nearly $100,000 On eBay

nes-world-championship-goldSome time last week, we brought you word that an extremely rare Nintendo World Championships cartridge actually went up on auction, and that certainly drew a fair amount of attention, as it sold for $99,902 (!). A couple more Nintendo World Championships cartridges popped up after that as well, with one of them being a mint-condition grey edition that has an intact label, while the other is a gold edition version that you can see above. The latter is obviously a whole lot more valuable, where only 26 of the 116 cartridges produced specifically for Nintendo Power prize winners came in gold.

‘The Plaza’ Is Apparently eBay’s Online Mall For Big Brands

The Plaza Is Apparently eBays Online Mall For Big Brands

You can find almost anything on eBay, particularly knock-off items that big brands usually sell for an arm and a leg. The online marketplace is one of the biggest portals through which bargain hunters and penny pinchers can get their hands on knock-offs, something that might drive away actual big brands that want to sell their genuine products through eBay, which also happens to be one of the biggest marketplace on the internet. Ben Schachter of Macquarie reports that eBay is soon going to launch a new site, that won’t carry its moniker, but will instead by called “The Plaza.” Apparently this will serve as a separate online portal which brands can use to sell directly to potential customers.

    Buy “The Force” on eBay

The Force. It flows through all things. Now you can buy it on eBay. This “action figure” is right up there with the figures of Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen’s charred remains. The Force is a custom action figure in the style of the old Kenner Star Wars toys.

Sadly, this auction has ended. And it sold for only $13.95(USD). The Force may be powerful, but apparently it isn’t worth much. Well, someone just got Jedi powers for dirt cheap!

I imagine this invisible novelty figure will probably be offered again. Now that word is out, every scoundrel and smuggler and moisture farmer will want this power.

eBay Lowers Listing Fees, Raises Final Value Fee

This article was written on January 29, 2008 by CyberNet.

eBay Shopping Cart eBay has angered a lot of sellers over the years because they are frequently jacking up the cost of their fees to list the items. They are trying to make amends with all of the sellers by lowering fees across the board, which will become effective on February 20th, 2008. Well, maybe not all the way across the board.

Some of the listing fees have dropped by as much as 50%, and they’ve completely removed the fee for adding a gallery image (the thumbnail that’s displayed when performing a search). The biggest price reductions come to those who start their auctions under $25, and even more to those who start under $0.99.

There’s one bit of information that they failed to leave out of their mass email that was sent out to all members (I received it earlier this morning). As you would expect eBay isn’t just going to reduce the prices without making up for it somewhere else. Right now with every item that you sell eBay will take 5.25% of that revenue, and on February 20th they will start taking taking 8.75%! That’s an increase of 67%.

To help put the increased Final Value Fee into perspective lets look at an example. If you sell an item for $500 on eBay they would have previously gotten $26.25 plus the listing fees. Now they are going to get $43.75 from the final selling price plus the slightly reduced listing fees. That’s a difference of almost $17, which is doubtful that you’ll make up from the reduced listing fees.

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. eBay wants to make you think that they are putting more money in your pocket, but the only people who are really benefiting from the changes are those who have items that don’t sell.

Limited Edition 24k Gold Nikon FA Spotted On eBay For $12,000

Limited Edition 24k Gold Nikon FA Spotted On eBay For $12,000While digital appears to be the way of the future, going old school is not a bad thing. In fact there are photography enthusiasts out there who still love film cameras and use them to take photos, even though it means that they are unable to “delete” their mistakes and that it would cost them money and time to get their film washed. Either way there’s something very retro about using film cameras, and if you’re a fan of said technology, you might be interested to learn that a listing on eBay has revealed a certain Nikon FA camera, except instead of your normal Nikon FA, this particular model is a limited edition one that comes with a 24k gold plated finish with lizard skin.

According to the eBay listing, the seller is asking for $12,000 for the camera and despite the eBay listing stating that it is used, the description states that this is a camera that has never been used before. Nikon’s own description of the camera reads as such, “In commemoration of winning the “Camera Grand Prix” prize, Nikon FA Gold was released in Japan (Nippon). This was based on the FA, and its silver color parts such as top and bottom covers are gold-plated and the lizard skin was used for leather cover.” Apparently only 2,000 units were made and while we reckon it’s still in great working condition, we doubt many photographers will be using it to take photos!

Amazon drone delivery is “fantasy” eBay CEO dismisses

Amazon’s drone delivery program, “PrimeAir”, has been dismissed as fantasy by eBay’s CEO, with the outspoken exec arguing that the online retail giant’s aim to have micro-deliveries airborne isn’t practical. “We’re not really focusing on long-term fantasies,” John Donahue told Bloomberg TV when asked about Amazon’s moonshot scheme, which according to CEO Jeff Bezos has […]
