No New Unreal Tournament Game In The Works

No New Unreal Tournament Game In The WorksWe’re sure that when Epic Games took to the stage at GDC 2014 earlier yesterday, many expected them to perhaps announce a new game, like a new Unreal Tournament for example. If you have been playing FPS games long enough, Unreal Tournament was one of the more played FPS games back in the day, along with titles like Counter-Strike and Half-Life 2.

Unfortunately apart from the release of Unreal Tournament III back in 2007, we have not heard word about a new Unreal Tournament game since and given that it’s been 7 years, safe to say many think that it’s about time that a new game is announced. Sorry to disappoint but it seems that Epic Games will not be releasing a new Unreal Tournament game anytime soon. (more…)

Epic Games Partners With Staffordshire University To Help Provide Game Design Education

logoepicgamesWe’re sure there are many gamers out there who wish that they could learn how to create games just as good, if not better, than the ones that they love to play. Perhaps even land themselves a job at their favorite game studio too. Well that requires some level of education, whether self-taught or in school, but for those who are planning to enrol into a school, perhaps Staffordshire University could be one of your options. Epic Games has recently announced that they have formed a two-year partnership with Staffordshire University in which an Epic Games Centre will be create, which is basically a fully equipped space that students who are part of the university’s game design course can use.

The agreement will also provide students with the necessary hardware, the materials, as well as access to key personnel who will be able to help them further develop their game design skills. According to Staffordshire University’s Head of the Games Technology Group, Dr. Bobbie Fletcher, “We have many great courses here at Staffs but this partnership will give our students a deeper understanding of how theory is put into practice and a greater understanding of the commercial complexities of the development process.” This is a pretty cool-sounding course and will see Staffordshire join other universities in offering a comprehensive game design course.

'Infinity Blade III' hits the App Store ahead of iOS 7 launch

After almost a two-year wait, a new Infinity Blade game has hit the App Store. Chair Entertainment’s Infinity Blade III ($6.99/£4.99), the third and final chapter in the Apple-exclusive trilogy, has been designed to get the most from the iPhone 5s’ new 64-bit architecture. Available as a universal app (supported by devices running iOS 6.0 and up), the game features new rendering effects, including depth of field, blur and full-screen vignettes, utilizing the same tap-to-move controls from the previous two instalments. If the cancelation of Infinity Blade Dungeons left a dragon-shaped hole in your life, today’s release might just fill it until the next season of Game of Thrones.

Gears of War: Judgment Now Available Exclusively On Xbox 360

Gears of War: Judgment Now Available Exclusively On Xbox 360

Gears of War: Judgment has been a long time coming as the last Gears of War game, Gears of War 3, was released back in September 2011. The launch of a Gears of War game outside of the holiday season is certainly one Gears fans aren’t too familiar with, but we’re sure you’ll adapt to it quickly considering today’s release gave you more time for other holiday games, like Halo 4.

Gears of War: Judgment is the first game in the series to not only be a prequel, but it also doesn’t have you playing as Marcus or Dominic, two characters that have been been recognized as the heart and soul behind the Gears franchise. In Judgment, you follow the story of Kilo Squad which brings back fan favorites Damon Baird and Augustus Cole, while also introducing two new characters to the Gears of War games, Sofia Hendrick and Garron Paduk.

The game’s multiplayer will also introduce some firsts as Judgment will include a number of new and classic multiplayer modes that include competitive modes such as OverRun, Domination, Free-for-All and Team Deathmatch, as well as a new co-op game type called Survival.
