Evernote For iOS Updated, Now Able To Scan Business Cards And Save As Contacts
Posted in: Today's ChiliFor users who prefer keeping digital copies of notes, receipts, and the likes, chances are you might have heard of the app called Evernote which does exactly that, while syncing across a range of devices meaning that you will have access to them anytime and anywhere. Well the good news for business people who collect tons of business cards, you might be pleased to learn that Evernote has recently issued an update for its iOS app in which it will now allow users to scan business cards and converts them into a digital contact.
The app will rely on your iOS’ camera and will convert the data it scans from the cards into an editable contact card. Unfortunately it seems that this feature will only be available for Evernote Premium subscribers, so if you’re a regular Evernote user, you’d be out of luck. Apart from being able to store the card as a digital contact, it will also be able to pull additional data from social networks, allowing you to add more details to the contact, such as photo, email address, and etc. It will also allow users to automatically send an email to your new contact with your information, which can be pretty handy when you might not have your business card on your person.
Evernote For iOS Updated, Now Able To Scan Business Cards And Save As Contacts original content from Ubergizmo.
For those unfamiliar, Evernote is basically an app and service for mobile devices and computers where one can store notes, receipts, and etc. and save it in the cloud and sync it across multiple devices. It’s pretty handy for those on the go who need to have their notes with them at all times and don’t want the hassle of carrying around a flash drive or external hard drive. Despite Evernote originally starting off as a software and service-based business, interestingly it would seem that a third of their revenue is actually coming from the company’s online store, where they sell items such as backpacks, stylus, notebooks, and etc.
According to TechCrunch, the Evernote Market has managed to reach $1 million in sales in the first month alone just and now account for 30% of the company’s monthly revenue. In fact what makes this even more interesting is how some of their customers, 11% to be precise, don’t even use Evernote’s services or apps. We’re not sure if it’s the new Evernote Market, but CNET is reporting that Evernote Premium now accounts for about 61% of Evernote’s revenue, which is actually down from 89% prior to the launch of Evernote Market.
It’s actually a little bit ironic considering that Evernote was supposed to be the digital solution to notebooks, but they are now making a fair amount of money from the sales of such products. Why do you guys think that is?

Livescribe 3 Smart Pen Announced
Posted in: Today's ChiliWith tablets these days and apps such as Evernote and Paper, we guess the need to use pen and paper might soon be a thing of the past, but at the same time there is just something about writing with a pen and paper that is comforting and familiar, not to mention sometimes a tad more efficient when you need to quickly jot down something where writing on a piece of tissue is faster than pulling out your phone or tablet and launching an app. This is where the Livescribe 3 smartpen comes in. The Livescribe 3 smartpen is essentially a pen that allows the user to write down notes on a piece of paper, after which the information written on the paper will be transferred to your mobile device as a digital copy via Bluetooth.
This is thanks to a special Livescribe dot paper that can record what is being written, transferring the information instantly as you write it to the Livescribe+ app. The pen itself will also sport a built-in microphone, allowing the user to dictate notes or capture audio when writing is not possible or when it will not be fast enough. Available in two variations, the Livescribe 3’s first option will be priced at $149.95 which will include the pen, a 50-sheet Livescribe notebook, a USB charging cable and an ink cartridge. The more expensive package, priced at $199.95, will include the pen, a 100-sheet hardbound journal, a charging cable, extra ink cartridge, along with a one-year subscription to Evernote Premium. The Livescribe+ app is currently iOS-only, but an Android version is currently in the works. [Press Release]
