Facebook F8 2014 Is On April 30th

Developer conferences are a great way for the company to show off what it has been working on. Often at these events some of the biggest announcements are made, while developers, journalists and analysts get to see what a company has planned for the future. Facebook’s developer conference has gone by the f8 moniker, and the last time it was held was back in 2011. The world’s largest social network isn’t exactly big on hosting f8 annually, but its bringing it back this year, which will actually be its first developer conference after its IPO. The Facebook f8 2014 date has been confirmed, its April 30th.

    Consumer Groups Wants FTC To Investigate Facebook/WhatsApp DealA couple of weeks ago, Facebook had the industry in a frenzy when they announced that they would be acquiring instant messenger app, WhatsApp, for a whopping $19 billion, making it several more times more expensive than what they paid for Instagram which was $1 billion.

    In a way this is a good move for Facebook as they would acquire one of the world’s most popular and most used instant messaging services, but it seems that not everyone is too pleased about the deal as two consumer groups have recently filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, asking them to investigate the pending acquisition.     Facebook News Feed Gets New Fonts, Bigger Photos And More

    After having shunned its radical News Feed redesign, Facebook today started rolling out an updated look for News Feed which it hopes that users will give a warm welcome. The update is quite obviously focused on cosmetic changes, majority of the text will now be displayed using new fonts, Helvetica for Macs and Arial for Windows PCs. Stories and posts are now displayed in a “card” arrangement that is reminiscent of the social network’s mobile applications. The left-hand column has been more simplified and photos are now larger, thus bringing the desktop experience closer to its mobile counterpart.
