On the majority of forms that we fill in, chances are when it comes to gender, we only get to choose between male of female. However what if a person were transgender? How would they fill in that form? More importantly will their choice be acknowledged? Well the good news is that Facebook has decided to embrace the many types of gender identities and according to the folks at ReadWrite, they have managed to identify as many as 56 different gender identities that one can choose from to identify themselves on Facebook. So it’s Valentine’s Day (again) and you’re single (again). Even though you’ve been right-swiping your heart out on Tinder, you’ve failed to find love nearby. So what can you do? Try a new activity? Maybe meet some new people? Nah. Just move to another city where your chances are better.
A lot of the major technology firms out there are trying to do their part to help the environment and to be green. That effort often extends to encouraging their workers to use public and mass transportation. Some of those tech firms, particularly Google and Apple, even run their own bus services.
Facebook has now announced that it has started its own ferry for workers. The water taxi service will float workers from San Francisco to Redwood City and back. The Redwood City drop off is apparently only a few miles from Facebook HQ. The water taxi service launched last week and is operating under a 90-day pilot period, after which point they will decide if they’ll roll it out more permanently.
The boat is a catamaran that can hold 30 people and has Wi-Fi, coffee, and snacks aboard. The water taxi should make for a nice trip considering how congested highways tend to get.

The power of a social network cannot be underestimated, as there is potential to reach out to other humans as well as reunite long lost family ties. A mother’s love is also an extremely potent force, where we read of a Michigan mom who went ahead to create a Facebook page for her 10-year old son after he refused a birthday party simply because he does not have any friends at all to invite. This Facebook page is called “Happy Birthday Colin”, which is short and straight to the point. The Happy Birthday Colin Facebook page had just one request – to send Colin virtual birthday wishes so that his 11th birthday that falls on March 9 will be a memorable one. The Facebok page has already garnered a whopping 1.5 million likes plus, and counting, since February 2nd, and her physical mailbox has also been flooded with snail mail which (I assume) contain positive messages to spur Colin on.
