MSI tablet moseys on through the FCC, exposes its inner secrets

MSI Tablet at the FCC

What we have here, is a decidedly low-end Android tablet from the folks at MSI (possibly a member of the Enjoy family) flying through the FCC as fast as its single-core 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU and 512MB of RAM will carry it. Inside you’ll find Bluetooth and WiFi antennas, as well as enough room for a full-sized SD card, though oddly the user manual says this model (listed as MS-N0Y1) only supports sizes up to 8GB. Up front you’ll find a camera for video chatting, the requisite buttons for navigating the customized version of Gingerbread, and a 10-inch screen sporting a rather uninspiring 800×480 resolution. There’s a second camera around back, as well as the all important FCC tag. Check out the gallery below and hit up the source for the aforementioned user manual and a special treat — schematics for those Android pushing internals.

Nokia N9 arrives at FCC, opened up to see where all the MeeGo comes from

Nokia N9 arrives at FCC, opened up to see where all the MeeGo comes from

That most heavenly hunk of MeeGo, the Nokia N9, has passed through our government’s most holy of hallways, delivering full external and internal photos to show us what’s happening at every level. If you had any doubt this will be a world phone, tests confirming quadband 2G and pentaband 3G (2100/1900/1700/900/850 MHz) should put those to rest, while 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi spread over 2.4 and 5GHz means it’ll be quick to download the goods around the house. Models with 16 and 64GB are shown, though squint all we could we couldn’t count the difference on the teardown pics, which you can enjoy for yourself in the gallery below.

Look closely on the internal photos and you’ll note the petite SIM tray and a 1,450mAh battery that relies on a wired connector. It is, quite clearly, not meant for easy user accessibility. Appetite still not sated? The full user manual is also there, ready for your download. And just think, a few minutes ago you didn’t have any good reading material for this weekend.

Nokia’s N5 makes Symbian-powered procession through the FCC

Nokia N5

There’s something bittersweet about watching a Symbian phone march through the FCC knowing that Nokia is slowly thinning the herd. This particular model, the N5, made its requisite Mr. Blurrycam debut last month and now we’ve got some details about what the glossy white exterior is hiding. You’ll find Bluetooth and WiFi radios inside, which isn’t surprising, as well as NFC for all the contactless purchasing your Finland-loving heart can handle. On the mobile broadband side of things, there’s support for the 850MHz, 1700MHz, and 1900MHz bands, which means it’ll work with either T-Mobile or AT&T. Besides price and release date, the big question on our minds is whether or not anyone will buy a Symbian phone knowing the platform is destined for extinction?

Mystery Lenovo Tablet tries to sneak through the FCC, 7-inch IdeaPad on the way?

IdeaPad A1-07 and LePad A1-07

Tell Sally Kimball to grab her bike, looks like we’re gonna have to leave Idaville to solve this mystery. What appears to be a brand new tablet from the fine folks at Lenovo just tried to sneak its way through the FCC, bearing the model numbers IdeaPad A1-07 and LePad A1-07. There is a chance, however remote, this could be LePad successor CEO Yang Yuanqing said would be coming in September or October. But, with the K1 and P1 having only recently emerged from the shadowy back alleys of Leaktown, it’s hard to imagine the Chinese manufacturer is already prepping a follow up. The “07” implies this could be a 7-inch sibling of those 10-inch slates, but we’re just taking shots in the dark. The only thing we know for certain is the A1-07 sports Bluetooth — not terribly surprising. If you’re the type who likes line graphs and regulatory labels make sure to hit up the source link.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro slides through the FCC, gets turned inside out

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro

It’s been a long road for the Xperia Pro, but the little sliding QWERTY phone from Sony Ericsson finally appears to be nearing release. After getting manhandled, posing for a few glamor shots, and going up for pre-order, the 900MHz and 2100MHz HSPA friendly handset has, months after its unveiling, glided through the FCC. Granted, those bands don’t do American fans of SE’s Android customizations much good but, on the plus side, the Pro now appears to be sporting ANT+ for all your fitness tracking needs. Unfortunately, the September delivery date still stands, so our friends across the pond will just have remain patient.

HTC’s Puccini tablet passes through the FCC, has AT&T written all over it

Remember that HTC 10-inch Puccini tablet we spotted in May? It just passed through the FCC’s gates with the model number PG09410 and from the looks of things, is headed straight for AT&T’s network. The rumored Honeycomb tablet’s sporting the requisite GSM 850, 1900MHz frequencies and 3G WCDMA 850 and 1900MHz bands, but the real showstopper here are the slate’s LTE radios. With both AWS 4 and 17 bands on board, it’d be a pretty safe guess to see this launch alongside the orange-colored carrier’s LTE rollout. We should note that the FCC doesn’t test for European compatibility, so you could still see this bad boy hit across the Atlantic. What else can we glimpse from that diagram in blue? Based on the size of what appears to be a SIM card slot, we found this Android tab measuring in at the 10-inch mark. Also, you can expect a dual speaker set-up, but sadly no 3D camera. With the rumored June launch date already passed, we’re hoping this’ll hit late summer.

Nokia RM-670 swans through the FCC, gives us another ‘Zeta’ portrait to admire

We first saw the Nokia RM-670 (aka the N7 or 700 Zeta) in a batch of unflattering spy-shots, then in some leaked publicity poses, and now we also have an exquisite line drawing courtesy of the FCC. Sure, it’s not the most detailed of portraits, but it’s the first absolutely concrete evidence we have that the RM-670 exists and may be headed to the New World. The FCC paperwork lists 1700MHz AWS and 850/1900Mhz 3G bands, suggesting that the handset could potentially work on T-Mobile or AT&T. Other rumored specs doing the rounds include the new Symbian Belle OS, a 1GHz processor, NFC and a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen — as if those rounded contours weren’t pleasing enough.

[Thanks, Glenn]

ViewSonic ViewPad 10Pro hits the FCC, feds don’t mind its split personality

Who ever said multiple personality disorder was a bad thing? Certainly not ViewSonic, whose Oak Trail powered ViewPad 10Pro — which does the dual OS dance with Windows 7 and virtualized Android 2.2 — just made its way through the FCC. The government’s stamp of approval on its WiFi and AT&T-friendly WCDMA radios means it won’t fry our brains, and it shouldn’t be long before we see the 10Pro in stores. Of course, we still don’t know the price of this device… or the psychiatric costs of its OS switching ways.

BlackBerry Torch 2 slides through the FCC, bound for AT&T?

BlackBerry Torch 2 FCC

We’ve already gotten our grubby little mitts on it, and it looks like soon enough you too will be able to wrap your QWERTY-loving digits around a Torch 2. It looks like the display-centric BlackBerry just slid its way through the FCC, sporting 850MHz and 1900MHz GSM bands, indicating this particular model (listed as RDM71UW) is destined for AT&T. Obviously, even if this is in fact the Torch 2, an FCC filing is not exactly a confirmed release date — so don’t start lining up outside your local AT&T outlet just yet.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro ‘slides’ through FCC with photos in tow

It looks like Sony Ericsson needs to juice up the invisibility cloak. Not only has the handset maker been pushing a decent number of phones through for Federal approval, it’s splayed out most of them for the whole world to see. The latest device to get the thumbs-up from the feds is the Xperia Mini Pro, which appears to be on track for its promised third-quarter launch. If we don’t see a different version of the same phone hit Washington soon, it’s more than likely that the 900 / 2100MHz Mini Pro won’t see much 3G activity in the US, since we use different frequencies stateside — though it’ll still function as a 2G device when it hops the pond with Europeans on holiday. We’ve yet a little while before the QWERTY smartphone comes out to play, but check out its outer (and inner) beauty in the gallery below.
