Infiniti EMERG-E First Drive

As environmentally-friendly concepts go, Nissan’s Infiniti EMERG-E is definitely more in the BMW i8 camp of performance first, rather than the meek eco-boxes that can give EVs a bad name, and we’ve been lucky enough to grab a test drive of one of the two working cars in existence while at Nissan 360. While most […]

Nissan Autonomous Cars: We talk Self-Driving with R&D chief Carla Bailo

Nissan’s self-driving car technology works, but when will we see the first autonomous vehicles on the road, and how do you coax keen drivers out from behind the wheel and into trusting their AI chauffeur? Cars that can drive themselves are, many believe, the answer to cutting road-related fatalities and making better use of highways, […]

Nissan Leaf Self-Driving Car First-Drive

Autonomous cars aren’t just the preserve of Google and MIT; Nissan has been working on its own self-driving technology, and we took a ride in the custom Leaf EV to see just how the future feels. The technology uses a special, second-gen version of the Safety Shield technology Nissan will debut on production models this […]

It’s time to get a look at the largest of three DROID devices released this week by Motorola and Verizon: the DROID Maxx. This device takes on a form that’s remarkably similar to the DROID Ultra, including software and hardware, but brings on a significantly larger battery and slightly different backside casing to differentiate. Here […]

Nokia HERE Research: We talk Smart Cities, ethical tracking & self-driving cars

If you’re carrying a smartphone or driving a modern car, you’re a potential probe, and Nokia would love to unlock your location for its HERE Maps services. The company already has its own gathering programs in place yet, for all its gigabytes of daily data, Nokia’s HERE 3D mapping car is only one part of […]

Nokia HERE 3D v2: We ride the 68MP rig putting Google Maps on notice

Nokia may have come late to the game with Streetview-style 3D photography in its HERE Maps service, but the company is aiming to overtake Google with its second generation of mapping cars. Built using newly developed camera, LIDAR, and processing technology from 3D specialist Earthmine, which Nokia acquired last November, the updated system promises higher-resolution […]

DROID Ultra unboxing and hands-on

The full second wave of DROID devices is hitting Verizon this month, with the DROID Ultra – the device landing on SlashGear’s review bench today – sitting at the heart of the family. This device is the middle-ground, so to speak, between the DROID Maxx – with a similar size display and larger battery, and […]

Engadget's back to school guide 2013 ultraportables

Ultrabooks hit the mainstream in 2012; in 2013, they’re claiming the high end. Intel’s Haswell-based processors are giving thin laptops the extreme resolutions, all-day battery life and touchscreens we wish we’d had in full-size portables a year ago. They might just be the perfect fit for students who want high-end features without the typical high-end bulk. Accordingly, our 2013 back to school guide rounds up the more advanced Ultrabooks alongside more affordable, extra-thin PCs. No matter your budget, these ultraportables are bound to lighten your backpack.
