In typical Samsung go-big-or-go-home style, the world’s number two phone manufacturer is now expected to announce no fewer than nine new models at this month’s Mobile World Congress — and that’s just from the EDGE-powered middle of the range on down. Starting with the most interesting of the school (if we want to go with a fish analogy here), the pictured S5050 brings high style, a 3.2 megapixel cam, 2.2-inch QVGA AMOLED display, and most interestingly, dual SIM slots — an indication that this will very likely see duty in the Far East. Heading on downrange, the B5702 is almost as awesome but trades the high-tech display for a 2.4-inch TFT. Of course, there’s more than just sliders in the mix; you’ve also got bars like the S3310, which supports microSD expansion, a 2.1-inch QVGA display, and FM radio (an almost ubiquitous feature in developing market phones). The E2210 holds down the clamshell fort — but to get it, you’ll have to be cool with a meager 160 x 128 display and a weak VGA cam. Heading down to the very, very bottom of the range, you get into a couple candybars designed to be accessible to the world’s poorest: the E1125 and E1100, which rock 128 x 128 displays, a data-less GSM radio, and 300 / 200-contact phone books, respectively. That E1100 sounds suspiciously like the legendary Nokia 1100, doesn’t it? Anyhoo, expect this all to break at MWC, along with the usual array of moderately more droolworthy high-end fodder.

So KDDI’s latest lineup of new phones features the usual array of 8.1 megapixel cameras, wide VGA displays, one-seg TV tuners, and teleporters, but one particular handset stood out: Hitachi’s Wooo H001. The dual-hinge flip’s claim to fame — well, besides the bizarre color scheme — has to be the stereoscopic IPS display that presumably uses the same parallax barrier method shown off by the carrier late last year. The phone will happily serve up 3D-ified versions of various UI elements and mobile TV content, and when you start to get woozy (or Wooozy, as it were), just flip a switch and you’re back to the reassuring flatness you’re used to. It’ll launch in three colors in April, and naturally, you’ll have to be in Japan to get it.

No, it’s not a Web site award show–the Webbie is actually Sony’s new entry into the ever-broadening world of pocket camcorders.

The Webbie MHS-CM1 has an upright form factor similar to other entries in the space, like the Flip and Vado. It has a 2.5-inch LCD and a lens with 5X optical zoom (a vast improvement over most other company’s 2X digital), which swivels up to 270-degrees.

The camera also has a number of scene selection modes, include low-light and sport. Oh, and it can also take 5MB still photos.

Like RCA and Kodak‘s recent entries into the field, the MHS-CM1 is a slick-looking, slim camcorder. Users can pick from three colors: eggplant, orange, and silver. The camera’s looking like a pretty strong contender for best in class.

Another trend at this year’s CES? YouTube camcorders, of course. Illinois-based Cobra Digital has come out with their own entry into the field. The DVC950 looks a lot like a slimmer version of the original Flip, but manages to pack in a lot of features that that camera was missing–for a much lower price point.

Like the Flip, the DVC950 has a retractable USB arm, making for easy uploads to site like YouTube. The camera also has an SD card slot, and a swiveling 1.5-inch screen for those among us (read: teenagers) who like to shoot videos of themselves. The camera doesn’t have a built-in battery, however, and requires two AA batteries.

The camera ships with software, a USB cable, and a 256MB SD card. The DVC950 carries an MSRP of around $60.
