Daily Gift: Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter

StarTrekPizza.jpg

I imagine that there’s a pretty healthy overlap in the Venn
diagram of pizza lovers and Star Trek fans, and the clever kids over at Think
Geek have done a pretty great job splitting the difference.

The Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter is a realization of
the true purpose of that big round thing atop the NCC-1701 Enterprise–cutting delicious
pizza pies. The cutter is made of stainless steel and features a laser-etched four inch blade and a zinc alloy body.

The utensil is an officially licensed Star Trek item, but it’s
only available through Think Geek for $24.99. Here’s something for the Star
Trek fan in your life who has everything–save for an amusing way to break
homemade pizza into smaller portions.

Medea Vodka (and its radical programmable LED bottle) now ready to party

It may not be your birthday, but it’s most definitely the weekend. And if you’re looking to have a “good time,” there’s hardly a better place to look than your local ABC store. We mean… whatever place you can find that sells Medea. Put simply, this vodka maker has decided to wrap its spirits inside of bottles that boast programmable LED displays, and while the company has been kicking the tires for a small while now, we’ll have you know that these things are now available for purchase ($39.99 a pop) over the world wide web. Programming information is down there at the source link, and if you’ve been searching for the perfect complement to your LED rims, look no further. Man, if only Brennan Huff and Dale Doback would’ve had access to this while shooting their first and only music video…

Beam Me Up — a Slice: Introducing the Star Trek Pizza Cutter

StarTrekPizza.jpg

The really great inventions seem so obvious in hindsight. Of course, a pizza cutter shaped like the U.S.S. Enterprise. This is even better than those mailboxes shaped like R2-D2.

Think Geek is today announcing the availability of the Star Trek pizza cutter. Modeled after the Enterprise, it features an all-metal construction. The ship’s saucer is replicated by a sharp 4-inch diameter steel blade and the 4.5-inch handle mimics the warp nacelles and generators. It’s not dishwasher safe, so you’ll have to hand wash it. Or, more likely, leave it dirty.

This is an officially licensed product. You can grab one now for $24.99.

The Snail Induction Cooker May Someday Replace Your Stove

The Snail - Concept Induction CookerHigh-end kitchen appliances and gadgets can get pretty high tech if you’re willing to spend some money, and appliance manufacturers know it. Most manufacturers are always on the look out for ways to design and build next-generation products that pack more tech into smaller space. Electrolux recently held their annual Design Lab Competition, and the winner was The Snail, a concept portable induction heater that may one day replace the need for traditional stoves and cook-tops.

The Snail was the brainchild of designer Peter Alwin, who envisioned a kitchen without a range, but instead the ability to attach a gadget to the side of a pot or saucepan and use induction heating to cook the contents of the pan. It’s up to Electrolux now to decide whether The Snail is worth the investment to bring into reality, but the idea of truly portable cooking without the need to set up a camp stove, build a fire, or bring along a generator is pretty compelling.
