BlackBerry Is Reportedly Bringing Back Trackpads

BlackBerry Is Reportedly Bringing Back Trackpads

BlackBerry phones have almost always had a “belt” which contained either a trackball or a trackpad, apart from a back button, a BB button and two separate buttons for receiving or declining calls. Trackballs were phased out a long time ago and replaced by trackpads, but last year when it launched its new BB10 phones, the company eliminated this belt altogether. Now this might not have been appreciated by some BB loyalists who would have preferred that the company retained this once iconic setup. If a new report is true, apparently BlackBerry is bringing back the trackpad as well as the entire belt of buttons.

    Foxconn To Encourage Employee Startups

Foxconn To Encourage Employee StartupsWhenever people think of Foxconn, chances are they associate the company with Apple as well as overworked and underpaid employees, but perhaps that is an image that Foxconn’s boss, Terry Guo, would like to shed in the future. Founded nearly 40 years ago, Guo is hoping to change Foxconn’s image to one that supports entrepreneurship where he will encourage employees to come up with ideas to create startups in which if good enough, Foxconn will support. The goal is to create five spin-off companies on an annual basis, of which three out of these five will eventually become separate companies which Foxconn will support with orders.

According to Guo (via Want China Times), “I want Hon Hai employees to have a chance to be bosses.” Guo has also revealed that he will be reducing his influence in the company greatly and will be spending more time on health care and philanthropic endeavors. Apart from looking to help Foxconn employees realize their dream, the company will also be launching a new project called Dreams of Being Rich Come True. This initiative will be similar to what Foxconn will offer its employees, except that it will target young people and encourage them to startup their own business where the company pledges to offer young people help for free in terms of designing and developing molds.

iPhone 4 Production Resumed For Select Markets [Report]

iPhone 4 Production Resumed For Select Markets [Report]

This is something quite unusual, Apple normally does not resume production of a product that has been discontinued. The iPhone 4 was quite popular when it came out, but since then it has been succeeded by four different models, and even if some might not consider it to be an outdated product, its safe to say that it has lost its appeal to its younger brethren. A report claims that Foxconn has resumed iPhone 4 production in China as Apple looks to launch the smartphone once again in select markets.

Foxconn-Made BlackBerry With OS 10.2 Certified

Foxconn Made BlackBerry With OS 10.2 CertifiedIt was not too long ago that Foxconn chairman Terry Gou was tipped off to have mentioned that the new BlackBerry smartphones which are manufactured by his company would end up on the Mobile World Congress showfloor in Barcelona, Spain, later in February. Apparently, it seems that one of these new and upcoming smartphones would be known as the STJ100-1 where model numbers are concerned, as the Bluetooth SIG had already approved a handset which sports this particular model number, and it has been specially designed to run BlackBerry OS 10.2 – an operating system version that we have heard about for quite some time already, where it has also made its mark in recent days.

First BlackBerry-Foxconn Handset To Debut At MWC 2014

blackberry-10-pbs-univision-viacom1Back in December 2013, BlackBerry and Foxconn announced a partnership in which it would see Foxconn help BlackBerry manufacture some of their phones. Now the good news is that if you were wondering how long it would take for you to see the fruit of their efforts, it seems that you might not have to wait too long. According to Terry Guo, the chairman of Hon Hai also known as Foxconn, it looks like the first BlackBerry-Foxconn handset will be making its debut at MWC 2014.  According to Guo, “We are working with them to design a new device, and we will showcase multiple devices at the trade show in Barcelona in February.”

Unfortunately the specifics of said device was not revealed by Guo, although many speculate that it could be the BlackBerry Jakarta, a low-end BlackBerry device that interestingly enough will not sport a physical keyboard, but a full touchscreen display, thus making it a low-cost alternative for customers looking for a touchscreen smartphone on the cheap. On a side-note it is interesting that Guo mentions “multiple devices”. We’re not sure if he means multiple BlackBerry devices, or multiple devices manufactured by Foxconn which could imply Firefox OS devices as well. Either way we guess we will know more come MWC 2014, so check back with us then for the details.

Sapphire iPhone Prototypes Reportedly Manufactured By Foxconn

    iphone-5s-review-003

It was first rumored back in 2012 that Apple would opt for sapphire covered displays for the next generation iPhone, but that hasn’t materialized up till now. All iPhones since then, including the latest flagship, tout Corning’s Gorilla Glass. There’s chatter once again of Apple testing out sapphire covered iPhones, a new report coming in from Taiwan claims that Foxconn has actually manufactured 100 prototype units of an iPhone with a sapphire covered display.
