Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR 42X Optical Zoom Camera

fujifilm HS50EXR Black Front Left Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR 42X Optical Zoom Camera[CES 2013] Fujifilm has announced its new flagship compact camera at CES: the Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR ($549.95). As you may know, Fujifilm is big into the super long zoom, and this new camera has just that: a 42X optical zoom which can be supplemented by a digital zoom, with which Fujifilm can claim an astonishing 84X overall zoom. To be honest, I don’t really use digital zoom, but for someone who doesn’t want to crop the image on a computer, I can see why that could be handy. (more…)

Fujifilm Announces FinePix T550 with Long Digital Zoom

T550 Silver Front Left Fujifilm Announces FinePix T550 with Long Digital Zoom[CES 2013] While our smartphones are certainly capable of taking pretty amazing photographs, they still lack certain features that compact cameras have to offer, which is why if you’re in the market for a digital compact camera with a long zoom, Fujifilm might have something to offer in the form of the FinePix T550. Featuring a FUJINON 12x long zoom lens (24-288mm), Fujifilm boasts this camera as not only being friendly for your pocket or your bag, but at the same time offering up a long zoom lens which presumably will be useful for those who want the flexibility. Fujifilm S8200 and S8300 Mid-Range Cameras

fujifilm S8200 White Front Left Fujifilm S8200 and S8300 Mid Range Cameras[CES 2013] The Fujifilm S8200 and S8300 are digital cameras that are priced to hit a mid-range price point of $299.95 and $309.95 which makes them affordable for users who are looking for a good picture quality, including in low-light, a long-zoom and a good feature-set. Of course, those cameras won’t be a champion in any of those categories, but “performance for the dollar” is the name of the game here.

And on paper, things look rather good. With an aperture of f2.9-f6.5, those cameras should provide very decent low-light photography (at minimum zoom), and if you take into account that the Fujifilm S-Series uses a backside illuminated sensor (BSI), that helps low-light photography further. Fujifilm launches seven FinePix models at CES: bridge cams to rugged shooters

Fujifilm highlights new FinePix devices at CES: bridge cameras to rugged shooters

Fujifilm’s raft of FinePix cams at CES are headlined by the HS50EXR, which aims to please those who love point and shoots, but aren’t quite ready to make the pricey leap to a full-blown DSLR. The shooter captures photos at 16 megapixels, records 1080p video at 60fps and features a 3-inch tilting LCD screen. Loaded with a manual zoom lens and a 42x focal length range, the cam will arrive in March with a $550 price tag. With the device, Fujifilm is laying claim to the world’s fastest autofocus in the camera’s class at 0.5 seconds. For those who pinch their pennies a little harder, the firm is releasing the HS35EXR for $400, which drops 1080p recording to 30fps and optical zoom to 30x.

The 3-inch tilting screen theme continues with the FinePix SL1000, which carries a 16 megapixel sensor and a lens with 50x optical zoom. As for video, the shooter records 1080i footage at 60fps. March will see the camera arrive with an asking price of $400. Fujifilm’s S8300 joins the photo fray with a fixed 3-inch screen, 42x zoom, 1080i video capture at 60fps and will make its way to stores in March for $310. The S8200 packs the same video recoding features and display, but packs glass with 40x optical zoom and rings up at $300.

Fujfilm announces pricing and availability for X100S and X20

At Fujifilm’s press conference today, the company announced that both the X100s and X20 will hit stores at the end of March, with the X100s running you $1,300 and the X20 shipping for less than half, at roughly 600 bucks. A new 55-200mm lens will ship in April, with more options planned for later this year. We had a chance to check out both models, and while the X20 appears to be a perfectly capable shooter, the X100s is definitely the premium variant here. The camera has a very solid feel and quite an elegant retro design, as you might expect based on its predecessor. The digital split image display is mighty nifty as well, as we first saw just this afternoon. Flip through our gallery below for a closer look at both cameras, then jump past the break for a hands-on demo of the X100s from Fujifilm.

Fujifilm X100s digital split image display demoed video

Just as Fujifilm is getting under way with its CES 2013 press conference, the folks over at FujiRumors found some footage of Fujifilm’s new digital split image display from the newly announced X100s. Earlier this week, the company announced this new way of manual focusing on the X100s, in which the user overlays two images to attain proper focus. This feature seems to hit a high note for range finder camera users as it brings a certain familiarity for focusing work flow. Note that the display in the video is the rear LCD of the camera and not the prized hybrid viewfinder. Overall the movement looks smooth and usable, but we’ll confirm when we get our hands on the new X100s.

check out the video after the break.

Fujifilm announces new X20 and X100S at CES 2013

Fujifilm has announced a couple of new compact shooters here at CES, the X20 and the X100S. Camera aficionados have been waiting a while for a successor to the X100, and it’s finally here. Specifically, Fujifilm is claiming that the X100S has the world’s fastest auto-focus of any camera, with a 0.8-second AF.

The X100S also has the new X-Trans APS-C CMOS II 16MP sensor, and it appears to have the same f/2 lens as the X100, which will provide a 35mm equivalent due to the APS-C. As for aperture, the lens won’t give you the depth of field of a 35mm f/2, but rather a 24mm f/2. The sensor of the X100S promises “performance comparable to full-frame output,” as well as a hybrid viewfinder that combines both an optical and EVF. There’s also a new Digital Split Image display that displays dual images on the left and right to help with manual focusing.

The X20 is the successor to the X10, and it packs a 12MP 2/3-inch X-Trans CMOS II sensor, with a non-hybrid “advanced” optical viewfinder, and an f/2.0-2.8 4x manual barrel zoom lens. Plus, it has the ability to shoot 1080p full HD video at 60fps, which is certainly nice to have.

Fujifilm gets official with X20 and X100s cameras, promises ‘world’s fastest AF’

Fujifilm gets official with X20 and X100s cameras, promises worlds fastest AF

We saw some details leak out earlier this week, and Fujifilm has now gotten official with its two latest high-end compact cameras. That includes the X100s (pictured above), a successor to the X100 that boasts what Fujifilm claims is the “world’s fastest AF of 0.08 seconds” (compared to other cameras with an APS-C sensor and a non-interchangeable lens, at least). Otherwise, you can expect a FUJINON 23mm f/2 fixed prime lens, a 16.3 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor that promises “performance comparable to full-frame output,” a hybrid viewfinder that combines both an optical and EVF, and a new Digital Split Image display that displays dual images on the left and right to aid manual focusing. On the slightly lower-end is the company’s X10 followup, the X20, which packs a 12 megapixel 2/3-inch X-Trans CMOS II sensor, a non-hybrid but “advanced” optical viewfinder, an f/2.0-2.8 4x manual barrel zoom lens and the ability to shoot full HD video at 60 fps — all available in your choice of all-black or two-tone black and silver (as pictured after the break). Unfortunately, there’s still no word on pricing or availability for either model — hopefully Fujifilm will have more to say about that once CES officially kicks off.
